i perfectly understand people from the west when they talk about the traffic and the apparent sight of poverty in some part of the metro but Philippines is developing and the government has invested a lot in this last decade in improving our infrasructure and even as early as now we're feeling the benefits of this. And I'll tell you Philippines is getting there in no time. I have been to other countries even to some of the most advance and rich countries and I can certainly tell you our Filipino people's attitude is way better than in the most advance countries you can think of and I wouldn't trade my country to any of these countries out there and I am proud to say we may not have the comfort you have but our people is our biggest treasure. Our genuine care for humanity is what set us apart from the rest and what most of the countries lack - meakness is what most Filipinos have and we are not ashame of our state because our meakness is our strength. God bless the Philippines.

I've been to the States and Europe. They're good but not friendly and hospitable. In Italy, I didn't feel foreigners are that welcomed. It has to do with the millions of tourists they have which doesn't make it a loss for Italians if few of the foreigners don't like being treated or don't come back but still, they shouldn't be taken for granted since they add millions to Italy's revenue.

@@miguelbalisi9952 that's another difference of the Filipino people. we know how to appreciate even the simplest thing. im working in the service industry. so many people in the west complaint a lot though they have all the comfort that most people in Asia don't. i pity them. with that observation, i don't think they understand what contentment and happiness realy mean.

Yes, it’s good to live in Philippines if you are rich/plenty of money. However, there is a few issues to live there. Holidays yes. Philippines is only good for holidays sometimes each year. Number 1 issues health care are poor in Philippines. Polluted, traffic lots of crimes it’s hot. Shopping mall has no seats once you felt tired of shopping from walking. Most of shopping mall when you use toilet they don’t provide toilet rolls🤣🤣😂😂. What happened if you don’t take your own toilet rolls/wipe what are you gonna use if it’s happened that you do poop. Use your hands? 🙌 wipe your bum? Atleast in Australia hospitals are free. Except private hospitals. Private insurance needed if you want to use private hospitals. Free medical check up/public clinic. I]Shopping centre anywhere has seats you can rest anytime when you get tired of walking from shopping. No scooters on the roads etc that caused of traffic. The Philippine government must do something to get rid the scooters. They’re all headaches and pain in the ass.

As a Filipino Aussie who has grown up in Australia since 1980, i totally agree with you.
The way you have described the living cost, culture aspects and life in Australia compared to the Philippines, i certainly know where you are coming from.
I traveled to the Philippines back in 2022 and in March 2024 and wishing to pack up my life in Australia and move permanently to the Philippines.
Yes there is traffic, pollution, crime and Philippines is not perfect but its not perfect in Australia too.
But the difference in cost of living is dramatic.
Australia has started including weekend and public holiday surcharges, 10% charge for weekends, 20% charge during public holidays.
Food in restaurants is already expensive, with smaller portions. Its not worth for average families to be going out for breakfast, lunch or dinners.
People in the Philippines are more polite, hard working, happy, have a better cultural society in terms of celebrating special calendar events and value things far more greater than Australians do.
Bang for your buck, Philippines is the way to go
I plan to travel back to the Philippines end of 2024 or 2025...

Hi Jordon. Regarding the crime rate here, it is actually lower compared to Australia. Although crime here is more concentrated in Metro Manila. So if you compare it to, say, Bangkok, Metro Manila's is much higher. But as a country overall, we are just next to Thailand in terms of safety. These are stats from Numbeo site:
    2023 Crime Index Rate Ranking:
    1 Malaysia 52.9
    2 Cambodia 52.9
    3 Myanmar 48.2
    4 Indonesia 45.9
    5 Vietnam 44.5

    9 Singapore 29.2

Well said and absolutely true. And the Philippines is an English speaking country, westernized and medium of instruction in schools or universities, newspapers, government and in all kinds of communications. Of course besides the national language which is Tagalog or Pilipino, as subject grammar in speaking & writing & reading as part of curriculum in elementary & high school only. But Manila has international schools for student foreigners. However, since the Philippines has 3 regions called , Luzon in the north where Metro Manila is located, then Visayas region in the middle part between Luzon & Mindanao, the third region in the south of the Philippines. Philippines has 7,100 islands and It has different kinds of dialects spoken whether in Luzon, Visayas like Cebu and Mindanao like Davao or Zamboanga. All the regions consists of different provinces, cities and municipalities or towns.
You have the best of both worlds a cosmopolitan living or provincial life in the provinces if you like to live near the sea or island living.
Lastly as progressives developing country a lot of foreign investors or offices are doing business in the Philippines with call centers located & established. It has a lot of beautiful malls, stores, restaurants, bars, hotels , banks modern theatres all over in Manila & other major cities in the provinces and famous, stores, like IKEA and brand names, restaurants, snack joints, etc in the U.S.
And Filipinos are very welcoming, kind, helpful, resilient & respectful people, educated and industrious.

I live on the Beach. Lapu - Lapu Cebu. It's modern, bright with little pollution or traffic. Internet has improved heaps - Now 150mbs. Otherwise I agree whole heartedly with you. In 10 years I have never felt threatened and I have ridden a motor cycle around most of the country. Most people speak English and are friendly and want to meet you and have a conversation.
The only downside for me is the litter. Traffic can be slow away from my area but the drivers are courteous. "they will stop to let you cut across or do U turns". No road rage here.
The best thing I ever did was leave Australia for here. I love the this country and it's people.

Of course comparing to western countries it's cheap, affordable prices everywhere. The locals are friendly, helpful and treated the foreigners to feel like their country. Just choose where you feel comfortable to stay of course it depends upon ur pocket. If you stay in Makati City, Taguig, Eastwood city, the prices of the condo is different but if ur in the province is better than the BGC. Well there are many options and it doesn't costs much comparing to Europe. I was in California during covid months and moved to Ohio. I only visit the Philippines every couple of years and as Jordon mentioned, it is constantly changing and developing. My biggest complaints are the traffic and high urban density in Manila but the pollution and trash issues have actually gotten better over time. The major infrastructure improvements in Manila have also been a boon. I still prefer the province and smaller cities like Cebu but the potential for business development and ventures in the Philippines is high. It also helps that almost everyone can speak some English and all the business documents are written in English as well.

Although I’m Australian Citizens now and adopted some of the Australian Cultures and Norms, but the DNA that runs through inside me is undoubtedly a Filipino.

We migrated to Australia in 1984 in the middle of political instability. Filipinos were getting tired of martial law under Marcos. Benigno Aquino was assassinated at the airpiort tarmac. We landed in Sydney and now live in Perth. I just came back from 4 weeks in the Phil. I missed the food, the people, the beautiful nature, warm sea water, the smiles, the laughter. Traffic is bad in big cities but i expected this and the smog in metro Manila. I agree with everything you said about the 2 countries. I love Australia, the big spaces particularly in WA, the blue wide sky, the white sands, the blue ocean, the cleanliness and order. But service people only care for their pay. They dont know customer service, even expensive hotels and restaurants, malls, staff are doing just the bare minimum, most of the time not even that. Warm and friendly service is more the exception than the norm here. It's like they hate their jobs and cant wait to get out of there. However my street is like a village. My neighbours come from different countries and we get along. I find Aussies easier to talk to and get along with than Americans. Filipinos learned good customer service from Americans. They say Maam and Sir with a smile. In my opinion the students became better than the teachers. Tipping culture is American but in the Philippines it's much appreciated because of the low wages of service people. Good luck with your business plans in the Phil. There are crimes everywhere. It's being at the wrong place at the wrong time. Stay safe.

Here in the Philippines, the urban(mainly Metro Manila) is filled with smog, filled with pollution, dirt, garbage and poor infrastructure. But leave Manila, and there is zero pollution, there's white sand beach everywhere in every island that is far from the urban areas. The ocean water is crystal clear blue, teaming with life. Forests everywhere. So the Philippines is only dirty in the urban locations. But the rural locations are teaming with life and pollution is non-existent.
