Very interesting, I'll be trying to gain better understanding of that for a while. So the hand post prevents the uchimata/whizzer kick, the head position blocks a fireman's carry and the pressure denies the far leg kouchi/ankle pick or the near leg inside trip, right? Would you say the push out is the "main attack" in this system, with other attacks following from opponent's reactions vs the push out attempt?

Yeah, I would say that trying to make the opponent step out is the main attack. Everything else follows after a reaction for the most part.

I’d like to see a top wrestler, who was cross trained in Sumo
They could come out to center,
Then walk back to edge of mat and wash their face with a small wash cloth
Then they could return to center, only to go back to edge of mat, picking up a handful of salt to toss into air.
Then return to center and balance first on one foot while side kicking other foot up higher than their head.
On referee’s whistle, they could give a flurry of face palm strikes and head slaps (snap downs) on way to giving the bum’s rush bulldozing their opponent off the mat and into the bleachers.
I have no doubt the Iranian wrestler could defeat me in less than 10 seconds.
Maybe this jockeying for position and scoring a few step out points is a good strategy against an equally skilled opponent.
To me, there is a great deal of difference in simply pushing opponent out of bounds-and using a setup and shooting a recognized takedown with the opponent choosing to step out of bounds to avoid being taken down.
The step out rule, helps to eliminate stalling at mats edge.
I would like to see a rule change.
Lately I’ve noticed wrestlers who are gassing, after falling out of bounds, take over a minute to get up and return to center of mat.
The referee allows them to rest.
After a reasonable time (10 seconds) the wrestler in center of mat can be awarded a point. And an additional point every 5 seconds thereafter.
