@@ProjectPast1565 Yeah you were big on the Florida Brigades that were from your hometown at the Chickgamuga battlefield I used to love going there it's haunted by the way lol
Very good video! My GGGF, Samuel Wiley Johnson, a married father of three minor children in (anti-secession) Walker Co. AL, was drafted into the 28th AL Infantry just after Chickamauga. Like many men of of the 28th, he was captured at Orchard Knob and imprisoned at Rock Island until early 1865. I would venture that he found it easy to restrain his enthusiasm for CSA military service.
Thank you for reminding me of the "ripple effect" of Orchard Knob's capture----the recall of troops moving towards Knoxville. I visited Orchard Knob years ago and appreciated the significance of its location and elevation.
Such a neat piece of history inside city of Chattanooga. Such a commanding view and you did a great job showing those views and telling the story . Another well done video my friend .
I’m a civil war buff living south of Nashville, just bought a cartridge case and cap box to try to recreate shooting three rounds in a minute from an 1861 Springfield. So far I don’t pass muster… 😢
Great job James! If you make a Second Seminole War video, I suggest you check out the accounts of Pvt. Ransom Clark, and 2nd Lt Henry Prince, they have some pretty interesting stories.
It's "CHATTA-NOOGA" not "CHATTAN-OOGA". Yeah it's a little sliver of history smack dab in the middle of Chattanooga alright-smack dab in the middle of one of the worst neighborhoods in the city. If you go to Orchard Knob be on your guard.
@@ProjectPast1565 Orchard Knob proper? No. The neighborhood that surrounds Orchard Knob? Yes. Be careful is all I'm saying. If you go there 10 times and nothing happens but on the 11th time you are robbed or worse, doesn't that negate the prior 10 visits?

Thanks for watching and sharing your family’s story. Do you know what regiment he was in?
I think it was 69th Indiana, but I would have to look it up to be sure.
