Oh where did all the talent go? Real people, real talent. No buff n puff, no CGI, auto tune, synth.. just real talent performing. Acting, dancing singing playing instruments... they don't do that today, do they?

Speaking of Harlem; I just chatted with Raquelle Chavis, former Alvin Ailey dancer; hm..when: will you show some archive clips of Ailey performances? Both the company and of himself. Love and respect, Hans.

The best quality I’ve ever seen of this number. I see so much of Young Janet Jackson and Kim Fields in Dorothy. I think it’s the dark eyes and smile ❤️❤️

It was Janet who originally wanted to portray Dorothy but Halle kind of snatched it out from under her.

John Bubbles was the finest dancer there was. Every move he did was his own. He could do things that in seconds that others would take 3 months to accomplish.

How did they do it? With those smiles & dance & poise they ushered in the era of jazz & Harlem Renaissance just after those race riots targeting African-Americans in 1919. It was so much Black culture in America. White people seated in Black clubs listening to those golden tunes.

    My Dears,
Could you imagine being a 20 year old dumb$#! Trumpet player in Boise bumfoolk Egypt in 1980 when a man invited anyone on Tues-Jam Night ,who wanted to give it a go , sit in and play a lick on a Greenwich Villagestyle session.
Being...... Everybody plays the head(MELODY) or assigned or at least an,agreed upon harmony, counter melody, rhythm etc... And then improvisations. Albeit some inspirational and some not so much.
But Gene Harris never had one discouraging word to a.n.y.b.o d.y..
    Cause they/we tried I guess.
Not knowing then of course these were the good times and if that wasn't enough ....time out!
The third act of this 8 minute show is none other that the one and only Scatman Crothers and sadly I hope they noticed he got zero credits.
    Sorry Scatman?
That I Personally, can attest, had an Aura and Charisma -A True Star
The tap dancer dude I swear it's him if I'm wrong I got to turn in my jazz card.
    Anyhoo... Long story short
1980: Filming Clint Eastwood Movie Brono Billy on location in Boise,Meridian, Star, Eagle , Ada County Idaho.
    Co-Starring Scatman Crothers .
    Time: One Tuesday Night
Without announcement , and a surreal feeling looming, Mr.Gene Harris grabs the Mic "Please Give it up for
    SCAT
    MAN
    CROTHERS!!!!!
He carried the chorus and turned to me and said "Hit it Kid" . I'm like u gotta bkiddin me. I, III , I, sounded like crab but I didn't care, Scat brushed it off . My touch of Greatness , my memory.
I was on stage with two great musicians and just thought they nice guys.
    The End
