I want to love Blossom and Root as well, but I think it's a no for us. We condensed the kindergarten level into less than 6 months. My daughter is really go with the flow, but it left me wanting more. She's not the kind to ask questions so that we can venture down those rabbit trails. We are going to try Torchlight starting later this month, but my expectations are quite low.

I don't feel like Blossom and Root provides the depth we were looking for.
In case you are still perusing- Exploring the World through Story level A has great comprehension questions and connectivity conversations. It works well as a supplement to other programs, and I would recommend that! Core Knowledge has a language arts free program, and I have just started looking into that one.
My kids are definitely most engaged when we do things that they are interested in. Fairy tales, for example, are a huge win and easy to spark interest.
I hope Torchlight proves to be a good fit!

Glad you're off to a great school year! We began this past Tuesday with B+R as our main curricular resource and added in Dimensions Math and All About Reading. We're happy so far, but it's only been 3 days (we had one sick day already..booooo). I have the same SchoolNest planner and would love to see how you're using it =D

Not a sick day already!!! 😭😭
I forgot to mention that we are doing B+R science and my kids do LOVE the letters and storyline there. I think we will like B+R once I figure out the best way to implement. :) I hope it's a good fit for you guys! Are you using all components?
Will try to record a plan with me video this weekend, and dive into schoolnest planner. Definitely loving it!

@@ThatsRightIHomeschool We are! I use the copywork portion as reinforcement for the All About Reading lessons we're doing, and we're using Handwriting Without Tears. My poor boy is such a perfectionist that writing is a bit like yanking teeth, and I'm trying to not drown him in it. But the B+R component is pretty minimal with the copy work. Everything else we are using, and my kid is weirdly enjoying the Burgess Animal Book for Children; he's not put off by the language at all. He tells me he just loves bunnies lol!

@@watermelonwriter that is so precious! So great it's working so well! Are you on AAR level 1? My child LOVES this program. A really good fit!

What clock or light do you have that turns green in the morning? I’ve been looking for something like this for my boys.

@@jaclynch6312 We use a Hatch. We bought it several years ago and it's still going strong, but they don't sell the same model anymore. It was a little pricey, but very helpful!
