- This truck is new to the fleet and I wanted to share it with you. Its a 1966 Chevrolet C10 long bed pickup. It has a 292 inline 6 and a 3 speed on the column shifter. It is two wheel drive. I also give a quick walk through of how a three speed on the column manual shifter works. Let me know what you think!
57 years old. In great shape and still going. Excellent video.
Thank you! Appreciate you watching!
I’ve always liked that 3 speed column shifter. It used to be very common on both cars and trucks. I think all of the big 3 and AMC used it at one time or another You’ve got a very nice truck. Great video…
Thank you vtrack! Appreciate you watching! Hope you and your family are well!
I learned to drive in a 66, 3 on the tree, long bed stepside, but it had a 327 2barrel. I'm truly jealous of your score. Thanks Dork for linking him to your channel
Cool truck 👍. Good to see another longbed fleetside. 🏁
Man, this brings back memories. I was your son’s age when my dad brought home a 1964 C 10 short box step side. He’d worked a bunch of overtime at the mill, and bargained for the truck instead of extra money. It had a big round decal on each door, identifying it as fleet unit #9. And so, the truck was named “The Gordie”, after Gordie Howe. Same colour as yours, it had the 292 six with the three speed column shifter. Dad discovered that the transmission linkage was badly worn, which is probably the reason the truck was retired in the first place. So he converted it to a floor shifter. I learned how to work a clutch in that truck. Thanks for sharing yours with us!
My Dad had a 64 Chevy panel truck . It originally has a 250 in it and he eventually stuck a 292 in it. Drive that truck for nearly 20 years . Sadly the winters of the Northeast ate up the body
Love that truck! Great work.
It would be a great shop truck! "A little surface rust on the dash" ...not something I hear very often...lol. Personally, I would put priority on the brake system. I've twice lost complete braking with single master cylinder systems. I would convert it to a dual system, and front disk brakes would be a big step up. Oh, and I have driven a three on the tree... a friends parents had a Rambler with it. The white wheels are perfect with that paint colour.
It’s a great truck, little to no rust. Get the color code from the VIN and paint each side of the bed ,from the trim down only. You have to have a temp gauge, and wooden bed. A shop truck doesn’t need a expensive wood, just a good coating protection against the weather
Kool stuff 😎 thanks for sharing with us
Use some oil on that E-brake, she’ll come around😉👍 may have had a business or a farm name on the sides of the bed there🤔 some sort of sticker thing Check on temperature gauge wirings That shifter seems to be in Great condition I like the stance and wheels
Thank you! It’s a really fun old truck!
Great 👍
I say keep it 3 on the tree when you but the blower motor in it !!
Haha! Now that would be an interesting combo! Pretty sure that trans wouldn’t last behind a blower!
My 62 would lose fluid in the reservoir, come to find out the clutch slave used the fluid from the brake reservoir. lol keep an eye on the level
I will do that! Thank you!
At least mine had a single reservoir, yours may have a dual ??
@@elderrider9298 no, mine is also just a single reservoir.
Dealership near me is asking 7k for it what should I do. It runs and drives
