Hes been awaiting this moment for probably 70 when he was told he would be king of England. Imagine waiting an entire life time for this day and losing your mother at the same time.
I'm sure he's more grateful that he got to spend as much time with his mother as he did. Throughout most of history, a monarch dies early and the young prince/princess has to do so much under so much stress.

What made Queen Elizabeth so spectacular especially around the world is that she came to the throne when Britain was still an great imperial power and she retained that magic even though Britain eventually relinquished that role Charles becomes king at a different era and time for Britain
I think it would be better that Charles rules as long as he could. That way William and Kate could raise their little ones long enough without the demands of the responsibilities of a reigning monarch. At this point their children need them more.
I would argue that in terms of longevity the Japanese Imperial family has been more successful--more than twice as old as the British Monarchy--but I take your point.

Literally this. Charles has been basically his mother's regent for several years now. The only difference in his job now is that he actually has the title of King.
I don’t think enough people acknowledge how much the queen actually did her job and did it amazing considering she did it for 70 years, and really did incredible. It’s scary passing down the crown In a broken world

Everyone is different , give the man a break lol I think the public just can’t get passed the Diana incident, it was a messy affair and tragic ending thus it haunts him for the rest of his life.
Time for Canada to renounce monarchy (british empire). As a non white, I dont want my single cent to be spent on this "royal family ". I owe them NOTHING.
I think Argentine politicians cost us much more than that and at least the monarchy can be used by the country to sell stuff, tourism, etc. I laugh at the idea of people thinking that a republic will be different from a monarchy. Spoiler.. it's not.
I'd be willing to bet money that the 'mystique' and tradition of the royal family brings far more tourist dollars into Britain than the 84 million pounds that the public spends on it. When a foreigner thinks of Britain, the first thing that comes to mind is the British monarch, the pomp, and the traditions of the U.K. The monarchy is an integral part of Britain's identity as a nation. As an American, I would hate to see Britain discard the monarchy. I think it would hurt them far more than any meager financial savings would help them.
As a Brazilian, I fully agree. We live in republics, but politicians in our countries live like nobility, even more than monarchs from certain countries.

I don't think that a family scandal will bring down, or even significantly damage the monarchy. It has weathered many storms in the past. Charles III however, begins his reign on the eve of a winter of privation for the British people, largely brought on by poor political choices. His net zero green support may very well backfire on him. The love of the British people will be tempered to a great degree by the amount of freezing they do in the upcoming winter. At age 73, one would not expect his reign to be a long one, and his people I expect, will begin looking forward to William V fairly soon, unless of course their paitence runs out. I wish him well.
The government runs the show. The Monarch is a ceremonial and spiritual figure. TECHNICALLY he could overrule the government, but it is simply not done. It would raise questionas and force a constitutional crisis. From a democratic point of veiw, an unelected leader is ovveriding a legitimatly elected body. Even if we hate our own gov and WANT him to intervene, the fact is that doing so would open a can of worms nobody wants. The most he could get away with is dissolving the government and forcing a new election, but he cannot outright overrule the prime minister without MAJOR rammifications. Perhaps if the gov turned tyrannical and oppressive, but thats about it.
@@Whoami691 I understand all that, however, the British public opinion may not be so rational. Everything fine last winter under the old Queen, this winter I am freezing in my own house, that sort of thing. It's a matter of bad timing, mostly, and out of the King's hands. Having been linked to the Green Energy policies which much of the public is also likely to blame for their misery will not help him. Also, an extravagent coronation next spring or summer after a winter of suffering would only add to his difficulties, no matter how cost efficient and trimmed down, it would never be enough to satisfy critics. King Charles III will have some rough waters to navigate over the next twelve months, and the Prime Minister will as well. Thank you for your reply.
@@wellston2826 like you say it's out of his hands, and the green energy policies are the only reason we aren't looking like Germany. We need energy independence. The gov also need to restructure the way energy prices are set so that the gas price does not set the market rate for renewable energy.

Charles is my favourite royal. Yes, some think he's a flake, but that's what I like about him. If I have a complaint about the past queen, it's that she focused entirely on preserving the institution of the monarchy. With Charles I see someone who thinks about what he can use his privileged position to make the society and the world better. I don't always agree with him, but I appreciate that he tries.
I think she will be kept in. They are very close it seems. I don't think he's going to trim it down as much as they said in the video. But royals who aren't working- unless they are just too old to continue- or are too distantly related aren't going to be included. I think also he'd take into account that older royals can't exactly go and get a job like younger ones can. Harry and Andrew and their families might not make the cut
Not to be disrespectful, but I remember that there was talk several years ago of the Crown bypassing Charles and going to William instead. From what I remember, it was being considered seriously due to Charles' advancing years (and other factors). But I guess she chose the traditional route in the end. Bless the woman who was the Queen for the world (just as Diana was the Princess for the world). And bless Charles. May his reign be one of peace and prosperity.
Yeah peace, but war with France is also necessary. I don't think he should keep himself low in front of the slimey thugs and representatives of the rich masquerading as politicians. He should limit the role of the Parliament and grant veto rights to Church of England over parliamentary legislations.
Yeah I remember that too cos everyone seemed to agee. I don't think it applies now cos Williams in his 40s (not the young dashing King figure we wanted lol) and ultimately, skipping a generation undermines the importance of the role and how succession works. Otherwise, we could ask them to skip everyone and go straight to Charlotte. I think Charles is somehow way more likeable now.
The crown can’t skip a generation unless there is an abdication. Charles was the legal heir to the throne and was always destined to be king by law of succession.
In just two days I see that Charles has become Kingly. He has a new, deeper, persona. He has been underestimated in the past. I think we shall all have a surprise as he grows into his role.
Not underestimated - just under attended. He's boring - so most of the attention he gets is due to what happens in his orbit. He's not going to be any less boring now - just less encumbered by fear of disinheritance for saying the wrong thing.

I hope the Royal Family doesn't slim down, they provide an outstanding contributon to the nation and commonwealth. The political class, the legislature, the judiciary, they all need to be reigned in as they have become out of control. Unfortunatley the media enjory the benefits they have in the current system. He had some names to choose from, like Charles, Philip, Arthur. Perhaps he should have chosen Arthur, and thus be King Arthur, or no doubt King Arthur II. According to legend, King Arthur is asleep at Avalon, and will return when Britain needs him. So, it seems that time may be now, or is still to come.
He followed his mother’s footsteps. When Queen Elizabeth became Queen, Parliament wanted her to use a different name as her regnal name and she said “Why can’t I use my own name?” And I think that Charles probably felt the same way even though if he would’ve gone with King George VII, he would have been honoring his grandfather but He looks like a Charles.
All of the controversial things mentioned here goes back decades. I would argue he stated his opinions then because he was only a prince and he knew that he wouldn't be able to enact change once he ascended the throne. I have no qualms he will do his new job well.
I doubt he’ll do anything drastic or meaningful. He’ll just continue to do what he’s been doing his entire life: living the life of luxury, attending a meeting once a month, etc. His advisors do all the real work.
With this event, he finally would have the opportunity to advance his world economic forum (WeF)'s 'great reset' at faster rate. Liz would be the perfect person to execute his idea of 'build back better'.

I think the issue is that organic food is less affordable so it sounds a little tone deaf for a literal royal to rally support for it because obviously THEY can afford it.
I think he'll be quite a mellow, chilled out King. Obviously his reign won't last as long as his mother's, so once he gets his feet under the table and gets a few years under his belt he'll start preparing William for his own reign and just enjoy the role he's waited all his life for.
90,000 of your elders die each year in indifference, abandoned, especially in retirement homes. Far from the media hullabaloo of euthanasia cases. With the horrible feeling of being useless: the first death of the elderly is "a death caused by exclusion from "real life", that of people who move, who go fast, who work", the study stresses. He will never have the world behind him as Queen Elizabeth had. EnglNd will be fine if you are the WOKE people.
What's her legacy? Please tell

What to expect from the new king:
- Spiritually leadership
- become the head of big family
- be unifier of the nation and express opinions in manner
- wear golden adult diapers.
I hope the Royal Family doesn't slim down, they provide an outstanding contributon to the nation and commonwealth. The political class, the legislature, the judiciary, they all need to be reigned in as they have become out of control. Unfortunatley the media enjory the benefits they have in the current system. That could change.

Strange that religion = monarchy when you think that C of E was only formed when Henry V111 wanted to ditch his first wife. I believe it was Thomas Cromwell’s idea!
In view of the history, Charles is not a really great name for the Anglican King of England. I agree with a name change for the new king as well.
People have known him as Charles for 70 years, it would be difficult for some to adjust to a change.
with so much media around now it's a lot harder for people to get used to a name change
All of the controversial things mentioned here goes back decades. I would argue he stated his opinions then because he was only a prince and he knew that he wouldn't be able to enact change once he ascended the throne. I have no qualms he will do his new job well.
Lets hope he does not go on selling nobility titles.
@@susanapol382 we know he will
I doubt he’ll do anything drastic or meaningful. He’ll just continue to do what he’s been doing his entire life: living the life of luxury, attending a meeting once a month, etc. His advisors do all the real work.
Once a month ? Queen had close to 120 attended events in 2021, doubt it will change for KC III
With this event, he finally would have the opportunity to advance his world economic forum (WeF)'s 'great reset' at faster rate.
Liz would be the perfect person to execute his idea of 'build back better'.
And he said he wished to make “trillions available” to the world ruler (antichrist) to come. True story
ORGANIC FOOD IS NOT SCANDALOUS. It’s the way it’s supposed to be according to nature. Humans have muddled it and he’s not wrong in his views on agriculture. It’s wrong that it’s so unaffordable. It’s a birthright not scandalous or fringe thought. I’ve never understood why his speeches on eating whole food is bad. Look how long his family lives! They practice what they preach. I wish him so much luck. He’s not as popular but he waited so so long to make his mark after being so hated in the 90s and 2000s. He deserves his chance and to do just what he feels. He’s had 70+ years of practice.
I think the issue is that organic food is less affordable so it sounds a little tone deaf for a literal royal to rally support for it because obviously THEY can afford it.
Disband the Parliament. The Monarch is the checks and balance UK has. and the crown should be able to express opinions on political matter.
I think he'll be quite a mellow, chilled out King. Obviously his reign won't last as long as his mother's, so once he gets his feet under the table and gets a few years under his belt he'll start preparing William for his own reign and just enjoy the role he's waited all his life for.
William was very lucky to have his Grandmother as a guide. He will not forget what she taught him.
This anxiety is reinforced by the "non-choice" of entering an institution, a "necessity imposed" on relatives because they cannot continue to provide care at home, which is too costly or unmanageable. Three quarters of elderly people in Ehpad (accommodation establishment for dependent elderly people) have not chosen to live there
Although a bit of a deviation from the main topic, I appreciate your willingness to spread awareness of this sad situation.
@Thomas Serein. I believe what you're saying. In my almost 5 years of living in Britain, I've noticed how children are trying to steer their elderly parents towards accommodation where they're cared for, but also out of the way, so that the children don't have to bother with taking their parents into their home.
And, not in the least, the children love to take hold of the home that is left, see?
I've had an elderly friend, living rural, whose neighbors were ordered by their children to live closer to where they were, in a city. What was the opinion of their 2 grandchildren, attending primary school? "We don't want to see grandma and granddad, they're such weird old people!" How about child education? Ughhh...
As a Muslim, I support this king. My feelings say he will be a great king.
Everyone including His Majesty King Charles has the right to express their political opinion even when there are those who disagree it doesn't mean that he has influenced in his government...
Everybody on the grounds of equality, the voice that royalty has over public issues is granted by a privileged position that they get since they are born, so is not really equal.
I am so fed up with politicians and their opinions. The WEF , WHO and the UN are the worst organizations that exist at present.
No. The reason why Queen Elizabeth II was so popular was because she kept her politics to herself. Charles will be wise to follow the suit.
@@harukrentz435
She was popular today because women jewelry, royal living intrigued people in this media heavy society..
Popularity is all about who controls the vast majority of media.. All the bad things about her were just kept from airing or overshadowed..
YEs exactly. He also has the right to be overthrown in a bloodless republican revolution if he chooses to exercise that right.
Well lets hope he is better than the last two Charlies....

We need a king who hold the government to account
He is the problem. He wants to bring Agenda 21(so does William), you will own nothing and be happy. They'll be very happy, they'll own everything.
@J1465 We also need a better system through which to do it
Hopefully he’ll be a wise and compassionate king, and work to reconcile his sons before he dies.
Sometimes dead branches need to be pruned from the tree - I hope he will have the sphericals to do it.
Big up if Charles speaks up and out about this poor government, i'd rather hear the monarch share their views publicly than in private! Honestly just think without the Prince's Trust so many people who were underpriviliged wouldn't have got a start in life and business, he already did so much for the country before even getting to the throne!

a. Remain King and build a harem,
b. Abdicate throne and become a hermit
Britain was decades ahead of its time, having a matriarchy before "Smash the Patriarchy" was even printed on a T-shirt.
Decades? I think you mean centuries. We've had a few female monarchs.
True, and I did consider rulers farther afield such as Cleopatra. However, I kept the frame of reference to the period in which t-shirts existed, for the purposes of the joke.
Sexism doesn't exist when you're rich
kings and queens belong in medieval times
Also Britain had Europe's first ever female prime minister in Margaret Thatcher and currently has a female prime minister in Liz Truss.

If Charles was already hinting at slimming down the working Royal family to just him and William it probably played a huge role in Harry’s leaving. He’s an veteran they’re wouldn’t be substantial work for him to to afford security and such for his family
I’ve read Charles initially wanted to include both sons and their families and keep it to just his immediate family.
I have the impression Harry leaving had little to do with Charles plans to streamline working royals and more to do with his own personal issues.
I am Australian & I support the Monarchy. I hope Charles III is more involved with politics & Public Service in some way, as long as with public consent. He has power to kick out corruption, solve the housing crisis (esp if laws came in future when current ppl who want high housing costs are dead), give energy over to Public Ownership (they elect CEO), ETC.
Public do not feel served by parliment at all.

@Helen Armstrong - The solution? I will tell you:
This “Windsor Family” that is currently ruling over The UK, is a FRAUD!!! If you insist on sitting a man on The Throne, at least make it the rightful heir. Please do a search on UA-cam for a film titled: “Britain’s REAL Monarch”. The man who is the rightful heir to The Throne currently lives in Australia; his name is Simon Hastings.

Commeon NOBODY would be able to be as popular as the Queen was!! Times have changed to radical, it is almost impossible to fullfille the Queen's shoes!!
The less he changes, the better. The more he follows his mother's example, the better. She was so popular and successful because she had the discipline to keep her opinions to herself. By remaining silent on matters of controversy she ensured that everyone could see her as being on their side or at least not against them. Charles has been mouthing off for decades, giving interviews, writing books, even firing off letters to government ministers. Inappropriate and risky.
Also she took the throne at a much younger age.if Charles last 10yrs William will be 50 when he takes over.queen had longevity
