I am watching it for the second time and I am seeing this drama in a totally different light. It is so sad, how many of us have grown up strong and independent, and one day we fall in love and get smaller each day to try to fit in another person's world, we lose ourselves day by day and we do not even realize that. Is it really happiness? FL was such an amazing person in her 18, how did such a happy person became like that? This man was like poison in her life, he took all her light and it is such a real thing in the world. He is so self-centered that he thinks she wants to divorce him because of another man when in reality when a woman leaves a man it is never because of another man, of course, she can find another at some point but we only give up the person we love after fighting for a long, long time to be together with the one we love, we give up ourselves first and only when all hope is gone we finally let it go. They were a married couple and he just told her to get rid of his own child (words are powerful, it does not matter that he did not know she was pregnant, nothing changes what he said to her), if it is not abuse I do not know what it is, sincerely I think mental abuse is much worse than physical abuse, it is harder to heal. I think I liked and was more hopeful the first time I watched this drama, now I just feel sad. FL deserves much better. I feel sorry for her, I feel sorry for every woman that is living it now, I feel sorry for every woman that has been through it.

Funny. In that scene when he was asking the doctor about her memory loss, he said he loved her. He didn't want to divorce her. But he treated her like dirt and let his mistress ruin their 6 years of marriage. Now that his wife has a backbone and the truth is coming out little by little, he says he loves her and doesn't want to lose her. Is this character serious, or is he just delusional? The girl tried to commit suicide but he said she was pretending. Knowing and seeing every time he grabbed her wrist she started bleeding. Then again maybe her character losing her memory was a good thing. It helped him see how obsessed and delusional his mistress is and what kind of character his wife is.

I don't see this as a man is the abuser type of movie. It's two very flawed people who only really start to understand each other when she gets amnesia. He's very cold and aloof but does love her deeply, just doesn't express it. It's like he said he never said he didn't love her. She loves him very much, but her insecurities and behavior cause problems. They have regular amounts of sex(from his questioning her in the office and her responses at the end, they're healthy in their sex life), and he's unable to sleep without her. You can tell he tolerates the 2fl due to her grandfather but doesn't like her. But his behavior caused others to believe the 2fl rhetoric. In my opinion, her getting amnesia was the best thing for them to happen. It forced him to be less cold and more open about his feelings and acknowledge the pain he's caused her. It forced her to grow up and become stronger and more independent. If not for the amnesia, they would be stuck in this cycle or worse.
It's also that the 2FL is relentless in pushing her rhetoric - because it causes the FL to get mad - and the ML has a distinct lack of emoting ability. The 2FL also has completely bought into her own narrative, due to the 'successes' she's seen earlier, which she attributes to interest in her, even in the face of his repeated explanations that it's because of his grandfather's debt. The ML actor is playing the character so closed off to most people emotionally, leaning into his naturally impassive face, and never smiling But - h's not completely closed off to the FL though. He does convey minute emotional cues when he's dealing with the FL.
It may seem, at first, that their sex life is a bit toxic, but it isn't. The ML becomes uncomfortable when the FL doesn't respond to the more rough style you first seem him employ. There is also dialogue later that expresses the ideas that the FL has always been adventurous in that area. It's her upset and crying response that gets the ML to realize that there is something very wrong with her memory. It also pays with the ML to pay close attention to his vocal tone. A lot is conveyed with that.
In 137:35, when the FL snorts because - as she says - it's the first time she's ever seen Mr. Lu (ML) rude, you realize that he's never been rude to anyone in this whole piece. And that's also a turning point in the drama. It's here where you see - and can look back - that the ML really does love the FL. He just doesn't express in verbally. He expresses it physically. Or tries to.
I've found that I am quite invested with the Gu brothers. The older one deftly uses the situation between FL and 2FL to destroy the 2FLs industry leading cosmetic brand (with her own words). Yet, he also seems to be genuinely concerned with the FL as a friend - perhaps more, but he recognizes her emotional investment in her marriage, even when she doesn't. He's got a ruthless bent though, which could be troubling. (We already know that the younger brother considers her his bestie. )

I watched this again and yeah, they both are at fault. Like you said he doesn't show his affection and even though it's his wife he didn't see how the 2FL was acting. And watching the flashback I could see how the ML was annoyed by the FL insecurities.
You hit it right on. Also him treating the 2fl the way he did in front of everyone allowed them all to bully her and or not treat her nice. Her being from the country didn't have that city street smarts to deal with aholes. He was the cause of their bd relationship 98%. Her reactions to it all was the 2%.
Because you have mentality of certain countries you can not comprehend what healthy men meant to be. All sorts of abuse going on here as well as coercion and manipulation to opress

I like this story , I’ve been watching a lot Chinese Drama lately mostly FL is a battered wife , slashing bad word from MIL and Mistress but here MIL is so understanding and kind and the Mistress is not so much violence , I love how they write the story, here the FL is so funny and have eager to fight the ML , glad she had Amnesia she is Brave facing the Mistress and Husband 😂

Ok this is surprisingly a nice drama. Not like those other toxic ones... It's was really pleasant to watch no over the top sister replacement or toxic parents. The mil was actually nice and any problem with the couple occured due to their different temperament. So this was nice esp the ending 🎉🎉🎉🎉

She was pregnant and that was her last straw. I suspect she was depressed due to 6 years of neglect, abuse, and cold violence. For instance he hugged her at night and they had sex every day. He basically broke her -(she was happy and cheerful and confident at the wedding )her to be his sex toy for 6 years. That’s why everything she said annoyed him and he always talked down to her.

When I saw one of my very favorite FL actresses and one of my favorite ML actors, I knew this had to be a great drama and I wasn't wrong. Well worth watching. Different from most What a great couple they make.

She was dumb at the end taking his dumb ass back. I don’t care what his reason is but he wasn’t a good husband to her at all. He didn’t love her like he claimed He just wanted to control her.

His friends and subordinates all tell her how worthless she is as soon as she wakes up from a suicide attempt. Walk away. Suicide isn’t a joke like they make it out to be here. This should come with trigger warnings and parental guidance notices.
Lots of other dramas where FLs Mom is forced to suicide the way this girl was... Though the men in those instances generally don't regret.
This one is not only tame by comparison, but also suggests that resorting to suicide is a bad idea as is assuming someone is joking about it.

when he figured out she had amnesia and went to the dr - that convo should've opened his eyes. even the dr was like you don't like her you like sfl and was shocked when he said he liked her. if thats how an outsider sees their relationship, shouldn't that be a clue to how he treats her? the ambiguous relationship with the sfl for whatever obligations he has is the one i hate the most. though the private relationship wasn't at all the same as the public one he should do some serious grovelling and re-examine his behaviour. Though really i disagree she shouldve divorced his ass

The only thing I liked about this was the very near the end when he said baby I'm your daddy. That was cute. Otherwise this wasn't so good. More on the psychological side of things. They both had personality issues. He dealt with them his way and she hers. All in all there was no real communication between them. She tried to kill herself because she was pregnant and he told her to abort it if she was. Cutting her wrist was a stupid thing. She didn't want to abort the baby but she would cut her wrist? Baby would die in the process
