This is highly embellished and misleading report. First, only 600 of the pilots reported fly for any type of airline, though the headline makes it sound like 5,000 airline pilots are the issue. Secondly, the FAA medical examination for a first class medical is very stringent. Quite frankly, perhaps too stringent in some areas. Airline pilots not only are HIGHLY qualified, but also have yearly in-depth trainings and flight checks. Additionally, they undergo yearly medical examinations AND medical examinations EVERY 6 MONTHS from age 40 and older. There were vague details put forth about the nature of these pilots' suspected "medical violations." While these are only "suspected" violations, the news media is framing it as if there are hundreds of thousands of rogue pilots flying without meeting the FAA's medical requirements. How many of these pilots have a proven medical violation? My guess is extremely few and this newscast has been vastly dramatized.
Much drama about nothing. Of those 5000 pilots almost all of the issues granting a VA disability check are for our knees, backs and hips…..none of those will ground you. There are a very few who have claimed PTSD. That can be grounding. Very misleading piece.
I mean if you're sitting there for a couple hours flying the plane you can't just like get up you can't pull over and hang out and just stretch I mean you got that secondary pie or whatever he's called co-pilot... But damn I mean it's like anything anybody is trying to complain about that actually going to help Society it's always shut down I'm sure people are starting to get to notice this
MHS Genesis was the start of all this mess. When the MEPS started background checking medical records and screening people before they let them in all of this crap started. MHS Genesis was mandated by congress to streamline Military Medical records between the military and the VA through an integrated EHR (Electronic Health Record). once they created that data base any of the alphabet agencies can run your ssn bday and name and you will pop for whatever they are looking for. that was the danger with this EHR stuff. Im glad when I went in I didn't have to deal with all this crap. The VA is screwing people on the backend now on their disabilities because of genesis, the whole thing is a disaster but I think the news is inflating this story tbh.

The pilots who didn’t report their medical conditions should be fired immediately and prosecuted for their conduct. If they can’t be criminally charged then they need to be sued for all their money and all their possessions.
You’re hysterical. No doubt you’re a masker and have pumped yourself with certain experimental poisons pushed by the government and Pfizer et al during the last three years.
Our military medical records are nobody’s business other than our VA doctors…
The FAA needs an update ASAP. Old ass doctors that have been there since the 60's lol.

I think I’d rather have a combat veteran with PTSD flying my plane, then there blue haired diversity hire.
Licensed to fly ≠ flying commercially this is highly dramatic

You would think that would violate HIPPA laws ?
They finally figured this out? Hahaha. I did the same thing back in 1999. Still flying today.
