- Rc glider Flaps vs. spoileron landings.
When pointing up against the wind, aply and work the flaps or spoilerons and just wait until its down.
For flaps gliders you can dive down, but with spoilerons you have to keep the speed down on the landing speed, if you dive it just accelerate and you will feel that the spoilerons dont work at all, and it will overshoot the landing spot.
If you are on a slope with a turbolent top, then land down in front of the slope, or walk backwards until you can feel a staydy wind, (around 150- 200 feet) and land there.
We do that on a very steep coast slope at the west coast, if you dont do that its 90 % sure that you will crash.
Good luck
Best description video for these systems ive seen!
Thank you 😘
clear demonstration and pilot skills to match
Good explanation.
Thanks also for the recent videos showing various braking and landing manoeuvres.
Hi! I know that this video is 10 years old but that your page is active... I hope you see this question. So with the crow braking on those spot landings, do you also have to set the elevator for some UP positioning? Will the crow make it dive or does the elevator stay neutral in the mix? Thanks! I love this channel.
With Crow brake/ or flaps the the will need Down elevator, and around 3 mm for most of my gliders, but all need fine tuning to get the right amount of mix.
Appreciate the reply. I love your channel!@@SpeedsterDEN
i love full crow braking
Working up to spolieron landings now on my X-ALTATION... and WACO BETA electric conversion this helps a lot!
I have the crow brake, on the throttle stick with both the flaps and spoilerons at the same time.
And made a spoilerons only switch, for this demo video.
Hello from Colombia; this is The butter fly mix?
Hello from Australia! loverly flying as always :) do you fly mode one or mode two ?
Reason I ask is because I want to start learning to use crow on throttle stick but I fly mode one.. is this a good practice ?
kind regards Darrin
Darrin Ray nevermind! I just watched "Glider setup for dummies" (Me) lol..
Nice flying!
Fantastic , thank you
I notice your ailerons are way up - are they maxed out up? How do you still have roll control?
I have as much up that I can get, that when using the ailerons then the aileron going down must go down to neutral. In this way there is still around 75 % aileron control
@@SpeedsterDEN Thanks - that's what I have just set. Try it soon.
great vid, very helpful
Very helpful thank you (tak)
Very nice!!!!
Thanks much
Perfekt ..
Is that a Arthobby plane?
Yes its a Arthobby Odyssey 2,7
SpeedsterDEN
Hello!
Sorry to bother you... with dumb questions.
Between Odyssey and Thermic from ArtHobby, which one would you consider easier to fly?
They have different airfoils apparently... But from your videos I cannot say, it seems that they are the same.
