One of the saddest aspects of Logan as a character is that all he wanted deep down for most of his long, long, LONG life was exactly what Charles talked about: Family, friends, a peaceful life free of violence and being feared or fearing for his loved ones' safety. Were it not for the awful circumstances under which he lived, he'd be one of the sweetest, most laid back guys you ever met. He may still enjoy a drink & cigarette sometimes, but he wouldn't hurt a fly, let alone a human. The angry, animalistic, dangerous to be near while sleeping war veteran is not who Logan truly is. It's what he became as a result of centuries of physical & mental trauma + fighting + loss. The overwhelming majority of his life has been a battle. He's suffered more than most characters in fiction do and lost more loved ones than he can probably ever remember. He's been tortured by longtime nemeses like Sabretooth to the point of feeling like he's better off alone because his heart is so riddled with scars that he struggles to let himself care about ANYBODY, knowing it will inevitably end up hurting in the end. Whether these friends & family are harmed by an enemy or simply outlive him, almost nobody he's allowed into his heart can spend his eternity alongside him. Logan didn't choose to be born with these abilities and rarely enjoys them. He made peace with being a mutant but doesn't often like it. Wolverine's one of the best cautionary tales about why immortality sounds nice in concept (chiefly because it's human nature to fear death, that's the survival instinct that helped us make it as a species) but would be excruciating in practice. Despite his many years defending mutants & humans alike, Logan would most likely welcome the chance to live & die as an ordinary man with an ordinary life if that were possible.
The real nightmare scenario is a continuation of films like this where they go the "Safe edgy" route trying to pander to the anti-woke crowd. Always pulling their punches juuuust enough to not get in actual trouble with the corpo/DEI overlords, but throwing on a veneer of irreverent and transgressive jokes with no actual guts or substance to any of it. I could absolutely see this being a direction they take based on how well this film did.
Oh yeah. And you can see it still somehow worked. A lot of anti-woke people like it, and a lot of woke people took issue at the "problematic" homoerotic humor. Is THIS problematic? Really?
Deadpool and Wolverine, to me, felt like a story of Dante and an alternate universe version of Vergil that's 'supposedly' worse than the main version we all know working together to save the multiverse and have to fight multiple versions of Dante at his current power level in the third act. It just doesn't fucking work.
I think it could work if it was dmc1 through dmc4 Dante that was sad after losing Vergil or that what if where they fight an army of Trish clones would get most depressed after destroying entities that looks like your mom
This isn't about MauLer, but reading the chat throughout this clip is aneurysm-inducing. The sheer unwarranted arrogance clouded by pure naivety, pretentiousness and delusion of supposed enlightenment can get rather annoying with how utterly narcissistic the guy in there is.
That guy's dad works for Marvel or something. I've never seen someone get so butt hurt by opinions before. Like the panel backed up all of their opinions, so that guy couldn't deny reality any longer, and he lost his mind 🤣
Don't even let me get started the home Trilogy which makes every single statement they've ever said in question because it makes them look like massive hypocrites
I sincerely ask you to name these issues and how they manifest, because I legitimately didn't see it. It's not a bait, I don't want to come across as smug, I'd like to learn your perspective.
Ever since this movie was announced I knew that it was going to piss all over Logan and be nothing but references and member berries. I accepted that going in and had a decent time with the film. The writing is dog water, the humor is as low effort as ever, and Deadpool's schtick gets old very quickly. It's Mauler's fault for expecting a good story that respects what came before from Marvel
Deadpool and wolverine is a shit movie they ruined it from the beginning, if they had x23 and logan in Deadpool real timeline, it was way in the future and all the X-Men are dead, but you have Deadpool with X-Men, kinda major plot hole how did they miss that .
The Deadpool films always have been like that. In 2 they include an joke where all the mutants from the prequel era (aka Non sitting Charles, beast etc) are all partying in an room and close the door as Deadpool mentions “It’s quiet in here like we couldn’t afford the use of anymore mutants”
The closest we see to Unbridled Rage Mauler in a live setting

Hearing them describing Logan and its theme almost made me cry all over again. Such a beautifully sad film. ❤❤❤

and if it isnt marvel going in that direction you described, i can definitely see hollywood as a whole going in that direction

wtf is this thread?
....you say this as if it didnt already happen
Anti woke means normal. Sorry for telling you the truth
YOU'VE GOTTA DO BETTER, SENATA!
This is the Anti No Way Home. Everything you shouldn't do with a cameo film is in Simp Pool & Wokeverine.
And there are still people who think all he says is "it bad" and nitpicks...

Unless they really want us to believe that Vergil really is that strong and if my first playthrough of DMC5 is anything to go by…yeah.

The best part of the movie was Blade saying his iconic ice skating line and that's only good because of nostalgia and post post irony.

But guys! Ryan Reynolds makes a funny while looking at the camera!
Days of Future Past is still one of the best superhero movies of all time
No
Watchman for me
But yet MauLer likes Spider-Man: No Way Home, which as the same exact issues ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Don't even let me get started the home Trilogy which makes every single statement they've ever said in question because it makes them look like massive hypocrites
Oh god... here come the clown takes...
No it doesn’t
whose corpse did spiderman dig up?

I liked the movie
Fun movie, but it's not the type of film that I'd watch a second time you get me?
Same, and I still think it was trash

Ewww, how cringe. He trotted out that written monologue as if he came up with it on the fly.
This film really did ruin most people's character
