I tried writing a novel once, and I do have to say that about halfway through I did start going crazy and killed off half of the characters before abandoning the entire idea, so I agree that it's entirely possible to all of a sudden become unhinged while writing a book and have it turn out like this lol 😬 I wonder how much of this was spur of the moment and how much she had planned out because it kind of feels like she didn't know what to do with Luke and just kinda went all in at the end.
It's like partway through your own writing you start to feel like there's not enough emotional impact and suddenly everyone is dead and your book is over. Lol.

Ok, so there are a few major flaws with the story... Firstly, why is a psychiatrist seeing patients in her home??? And second, why would such a smart woman allow a patient to blackmail her with something as minor as a video of her slashing a tire? It was a lapse of judgment that could have easily been handled in court
another thing that bothered me throughout is she sounds more like a therapist in her sessions than a psychiatrist. like her patients talked to her through traumas like a patient would talk to a counselor, not a doc just describing them meds. i see a psychiatrist for 15 minutes and it's exclusively about the meds i'm taking and we schedule a follow up etc. yet Adrienne seems to be filling both roles? odd

Mainly because my therapist retired like right when I started seeing her and I couldn't find another one. But yeah I still get what you mean!

Girll you should do a BAM on a movie/book called smaller and smaller circles. It's a Filipino written and movie that is fiction but it tackles real life problems in the Philippines. It talks about the question of "why is there no serial killer in the Philippines?"
omg the whole cabin in the woods murders backstory reminds me of another BAM with the cop friend also the apple pie you made kinda reminds me of “tarte tatin” a french dessert that was originally made by mistake by flipping an apple pie over in the oven by 2 sisters (well that’s the myth anyway)

i don't think it was? i think the signs they had that someone was there were correct since luke admitted to crashing there. so he hung up the portrait when she saw it the first night, he drank from the water glass & must have put fresh food in the fridge. only thing i don't get is why she's freaked by this house as if she's never been there before or has amnesia when she clearly had and knew the body was stashed away. just seemed odd to me

While I was invested when she talked about the book, it’s nothing I would read. The book sounds a bit all over the place and like they said the ending is a bit much. I’m left asking if the house was haunted or not.
i don't think it was? i think the signs they had that someone was there were correct since luke admitted to crashing there. so he hung up the portrait when she saw it the first night, he drank from the water glass & must have put fresh food in the fridge. only thing i don't get is why she's freaked by this house as if she's never been there before or has amnesia when she clearly had and knew the body was stashed away. just seemed odd to me
