'Once in a Generation’ Winter Storm Hits Before Christmas

- The "once in a generation" winter storm taking over America is now a national emergency. President Biden is warning people to stay inside. Many cities across the U.S. are experiencing bone-chilling temperature drops. In Cheyenne, Wyoming, temperatures plummeted 32 degrees in just nine minutes. Meanwhile, the airports are packed but many people are going nowhere. Hundreds of flights in and out of Midwestern cities were canceled.
This is the time when I really feel for the homeless😞😞💔💔💔
Me too!
Me 3
And animals. I have taken in a couple of stray dogs before for a night during a deep freeze then took them to a shelter.
Thats how CA ended up with so many.
@@dmj9612 God the animals too!! I'm glad you did that if only more people could be so generous.
Praying for the homeless. Hope they find shelter somewhere
😢fr pray for these people, not a lot of people know what It feels like. To literally have no where to go and I mean anywhere at all it’s a crazy feeling
Yes! I am concerned about them out there. This is deadly weather
@nicktorres5540 People like to judge the homeless, but can't imagine living a day in their shoes. The hopelessness is suffocating.
Their crack and meth will keep them warm and toasty.
mother-nature's cleansing 😂😂😂
I’m a firefighter and during this storm, my ambulance got called out to an auto accident and I was trying to get my medical gloves on while getting out of the ambulance, but my gloves stiffened up the moment they hit the cold air and I almost couldn’t get them on my hands
It’s pretty cold out folks, stay safe.
Thank you for all you do! Stay safe and try to stay as warm as possible!!
Stay safe and warm! I love first responders!!❤🚒
Wow
Next year it will be worse.

I don't know why people need to travel anymore. There's facetime, zoom, and social media now. Even when people get together now, they would stare at their phone half of the time.
I ordered an uber ride, guy was nice enough to accept my ride, we crashed on the way back. Car behind us couldn't brake because of ice. I live in MN. One of the harshest states for winter.

To think I've been working outside wearing short pants and a tee-shirt. That's how weird the weather is. Good luck to everyone going through that storm.
Im from NYC and Ive experienced -20 with wind chill and it seriously hurts to even move your fingers!!! But it usually just lasts a couple days then the temps go up
From hottest summer 🥵 to coldest winter 🥶.
Florida has the hottest summer. Also on dangerous DEATH VALLEY.
Come to DEATH VALLEY this winter.
Climate change huh
I thought the globe was supposed to be warming not cooling 🤣
Wait a few years, it will be ice age and flooding. Its almost like the weather constantly changes 🤔
People living in the coldest place be like: This is just Tuesday. 😏
We hit -37 this morning on the ranch. New record, I believe. (1890s log cabin shrugging it all off) Now sun is out, climbing up to a single degree high ... then pushing 50s on Christmas Day. Won't last forever.
You could tell that number to a Canadian and they’d understand perfectly! Stay warm 🔥
@@mckernan603 Absolutely! I almost did a video then, "Why? Most can look out their window." Freak'n rising as forecast; 12 above (0600) on way to 35 then the high 40s still holding. "Git the volleyball, boys!"

@@IrishAmerican17 the usual ignorance on what climate change is - hotter summers, colder winters, more frequent extreme weather events.
this is very likely attributable to climate change.
POV: Americans experience a taste of what Canadians go through “every single damn generation”
Yes thank you. This is nothing to us.
Kind of an exaggeration. A huge part of the US is actually north of southern Ontario, where a lot of canadians live
Yup all this sounds like another winter day in the prairies🥲
Tbh I live in Michigan and so far this has been pretty normal winter weather. Though we aren't being hit with the worst of it I don't think it would be crippling. I was expecting way worse.
Worst winter we ever had was when we lost power for a week and that was a long time ago. I think it was -20s last night but that's not shocking in Michigan, usually hits the negatives at some point in winter.
As a northern Minnesota boy I’ve never had a winter where it didn’t hit -20 or -30 lol I’ve been in -56
This is just the average Canadian day😂
Not when your city doesn’t have enough supplies ex. road clearing, generators etc

@@Bunny11344 I live in Vancouver and you're right, most of Vancouver is clueless on how to deal with weather like this, but for years I've always made sure I'm prepared for it, and I always have dedicated snow tires. Hopefully everyone has heating tonight I need to contact my landlord because my apartment doesn't have any stay warm and stay safe! I bought a heater last night and I'm doing better stay warm every one!
Where do you live? I have a space heater you can have..
If your stove works cook something even if it's only boiling water. Even a small heat source will help. Let your faucets drip so they don't freeze up. Hopefully your landlord will have the heat back on soon.
I just thought about my posting and it doesn’t make since.. if you had electricity you wouldn’t need a space heater… I’m sorry I hope you find a way to stay warm..

I also live in Washington state where we live a bit passing the mountains, so luckily we haven’t had it as bad here in the Puget Sound region at least where we live but it’s been ridiculously cold.
Here in eastern Washington we had ice warning now changed to heavy snow. Bunker down over there and be safe.

Interesting advice regarding falling on your back. Once I landed on my back while skiing. It took me about a month to heal that injury...
We live in Lafayette Colorado. My brother and I were putting some extra Christmas decorations that we didn't use this year under a tarp before the snow came. Blue sky's were still out and the slight breeze felt normal. In an instant the arctic freeze hit. It was unlike anything I have ever experienced.

Meanwhile LA and Flordia ☀️🫨
If I went to fall on my back couldn’t I seriously injure my back or the back of my head? I would rather break my hand than either of those things
You have to consciously tuck your chin to your chest. But unless you're going to actively practice falling, it's pointless to listen to his advice. Usually when you fall, you don't have time to think through "how did that guy say I should fall? Oh yeah I have to fall right on my butt with my arms extended outward." All that to say, I think you're right in this being bad advice... especially for old people. Better to break an arm than suffer an occipital fracture or the dreaded hip fracture.
However you fall, you have to roll off of it.
It's all about contact surface area, learn some basic physics!
West coast : “sunshine and lollypops and rainbows is what I feel when we’re together” ☀️
But rly everyone in the east coast/mid west stay safe
Once in a lifetime? It's always this cold in Kansas lol
When you fall you don't have time to think about what body part to fall on. Unless you fall off a bridge like I did and I saw it coming and I braced myself to avoid hitting my head but I hit my head anyways
Denver lady didn’t need two hats lol. I saw people walking their dogs and walking to stores 😂. They so extra
So thankful I don't have to travel for the holidays also thankful I'm not a truck driver anymore during this type of weather. I remember pulling over alot to beat the ice off the wipers. And to think, I once had to deliver newspapers on my bike in this weather. My earlobes swelled to the size of quarters. Very unpleasant.
I live in Minnesota and it was WILD to drive on the freeway while the snow was dropping. Had to pull to the side.
30 degrees is normal in my city but never seen a winter storm this bad
It's supposed to get a but better here where I live soon, but here in British Columbia, for the past few days, it got so bad, that it was around -30 degrees celsius, with the wind chill making it feel like -40 ° Celsius. It didn't happen almost instantaneously like it seemed to have done for some places, it just happened gradually but still, it got pretty bad
Where I live, it rarely ever gets below like 30 degrees, so this kind of weather is crazy for us.
