I have yet to visit Greenwood and this video makes me want to see it even more! I swear NYC has some of the most beautiful cemeteries in the country from Trinity church to Woodlawn and even the little Spanish-Portuguese Jewish cemeteries. Gives you a unique perspective on NYC history
when we went to the catacombs it was at night it was part of a play. The catacombs where awesome the play not so much. Also "Baked in Brooklyn" is across the street if you want coffee or food to bring along while you walk this beautiful resting place.
as long as you are in the area Giuseppina's Brick Oven Pizza is on 6th ave and 20th street. The owner of Giuseppina's is Chris Iacono whose brother is Mark who owns Lucali. Now if if you want a classic Brooklyn Style go to Luigi's Pizza on 5th and 20th. The pizza place was also used in the Adam Sandler movie Big Daddy. GreenWood Park (Beer Garden) is also on the same street but on 7th ave.
@@HereBeBarr people in NYC are always willing to help. That's how I found Wo-Hop back in 2000. I asked a bunch construction guys in China Town if they could recommend a good chinese restaurant. They even told me what I should order lol
OMG, I would NEVER let someone close me in a mausoleum!!! I would FREAK OUT!!! My heart stopped a little just seeing you guys disappear into the blackness! Wow, that's so fascinating about Greenwood being a tourist attraction and a catalyst for Central Park! Tranquility Gardens is beautiful! Great video! So interesting to hear about this place!
I love visiting New York and I always pass this cemetery, which is very noticeable, when I travel to Coney Island on the subway. Next time I’ll definitely pay a visit.
I have family members burried there. It's truly a beautiful cemetary. HOWEVER, the groundskeeping is, shall we say, lacking in certain area. When I went to visit my father's grave last year, grass/weeds were thigh-high. Really annoying after evening rain when the everything's wet.
Omg! I live like a 15min walk from Greenwood Cemetary and only been to it 3 times! A family freinds burial, a close freinds dad cremation, and to leave flowers for a close freinds grandma who is buried there! But neva for exploring! I need to chek it out!:)
Fascinating. One of my fav videos from your channel. Love that you got the special access to see inside these beautiful tombs. Hilarious motto. Great tour
I was wondering if you visited Mount Judah cemetery in Queens, NY. There is the grave of Victor David Brenner (1871-1924) the sculptor who designed the Lincoln Penny.
My daughter's ex-boyfriend is going to be buried here on 3/19/23. He passed away on 3/14/23. We're grieving of course but it's extra hard because it was a suicide. They were talking before his passing and he wanted to see her again. They loved to go to beautiful places when they were together and I'm heartbroken. I wish this wouldn't have happened and that instead of not being here, he was alive and they could have visited it together.
Nice video, alot of older cities have these types of cemitaries. The Detroit / Pontiac have these. I grew up an a rual area and all the larger and some of the family cemitaries have war memorials.
Great topic and video. Yes, Greenwood was definitely Central Park before there was a Central Park. One small suggestion: Turn off the drum track when entering a mausoleum or showing a close up of a grave. It’s not just a park or a museum; it is also a graveyard, so a basic modicum of respect is required, just as when one visits a beautiful old church or temple.
A little more respect for the dead would be nice. You turn a graveyard into a spooky Disneyland. Standing laughing in a mausoleum shows a childish behaviour. This mausoleum was built for a certain purpose and the purpose was guaranteed not to entertain you.

Hello from New York have a great day
WHO IS THE CEMETERIES HEADSTON MASTER BACK IN THE DAYS ,, WHAT WAS THE FAMILIES NAME.. *1800' TO NOW
If you liked this cemetery you have to check out the Woodlawn cemetery in the Bronx. The statues, monuments & landscape is 👍🏽.
yes...both cemeteries are worth visiting...
I love old cemeteries. But this one in Brooklyn is very beautiful and peaceful!
This place during spring is complete magic
Thanks for the recommendation. Going to check this out next time I’m in NYC
Great idea.
when we went to the catacombs it was at night it was part of a play. The catacombs where awesome the play not so much.
Also "Baked in Brooklyn" is across the street if you want coffee or food to bring along while you walk this beautiful resting place.
I went to Greenwood cemetery in autumn 2016, it's really beautiful.
The original tourist attraction of NYC? Wow
Yeah, cemeteries were the original museums.

Carlos Lacayo Luigi’s is great! Need to get back there

I’m to brave lol
Same!! I freaked out just watching you two get shut in there😱 Oh heck no😂 But I love old cemeteries, I'll have to visit that too!👏
Jon, I love how you show us so many different places in and around NYC!
Thanks 🙏🏻
My grandparents are buried there. Very special place.
Very interesting. We have something very similar in Philly called Laurel Hill Cemetary. Historical cemetery's are so cool.
A night tour would be a little scary but I would not mind doing a tour with all that history there
I love visiting New York and I always pass this cemetery, which is very noticeable, when I travel to Coney Island on the subway. Next time I’ll definitely pay a visit.
Funny, I was just thinking a few hours ago, man I need to see one of your vids soon.
Awesome.
Thanks.
Thanks for letting me tag along!
Can’t wait to see your photo journey
I've seen that commentary in some movies, always been wanting to visit it, it looks so unique and like an escape from the craziness from the city.
Woodlawn Cemetery in the Bronx is much like Green-Wood. Perhaps you can visit that one in the spring? Thanks for another great video.
Yeah, that would be an interesting idea.
Great tour - been curious about Green-Wood for a while
I stopped by Los Broncos Tacos after (i forget the name), very solid !!

Hey saint Rayman’s cemetery near throggs neck really beautiful and has famous people buried there you should go there next ❗️
Be an idea 💡
Thanks Jon.
Such a beautiful graveyard!
This Brooklyn girls has a family grave in Greenwood! Only my grandmother is buried there since 1978! My future resting place! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
I just booked my reservations to stay there!
Well done. Some day you should hear my lecture on Death and Dying in Paris & New York: Pere Lachaise to Green-Wood Cemeteries. Cheers.
:) Let me know when it is.
What a wonderful! I love cemeteries! Thank u so much! Rosana from Brazil.

Oh my gosh, we're going to be staying near here and this video just blew away all expectations I had about the place. I can't wait to visit
I was wondering if you visited Mount Judah cemetery in Queens, NY. There is the grave of Victor David Brenner (1871-1924) the sculptor who designed the Lincoln Penny.
My grandma Angela Panichi was put in the crypt in the front of cemetery
Awesome video
Beautiful and respectful video. 🙏Thanks
@:53 UPS delivers everywhere. Cheaper than a hearse ;-)

I've lived in Sunset Park my entire life and I've yet to even set foot in Greenwood, it's sad really lol. But I gotta do it one of these days.
Always wanted to ride my bike there with all those hills. I have family buried there too, nice place but room for plots is running short I feel.
Love your channel. Plan on going for a 2 week stay with my boyfriend in August 😊
wow i didn't know about that.
Cool video Jon, didn’t know about that!
Nice video, alot of older cities have these types of cemitaries. The Detroit / Pontiac have these. I grew up an a rual area and all the larger and some of the family cemitaries have war memorials.
Jonas Loogan took me here...
I'd love to visit Greenwood and then walk across the Brooklyn Bridge. Can anyone recommend a safe, reasonably hotel to stay in while visiting??

Hi
Went here once. Left in 5 minutes. Place was Dead!
🤨🤣

Guide is low key creepy.
Maybe a bit exaggerated
