8-Minute Ab Workout
Crunches - great exercise to work your upper abs.
Reverse Crunches - great exercise to work your lower abs.
Russian Twist - recline while we target internal and external obliques on each side.
Plank - draw in your stomach to target your deepest abdominal layer.
Bicycle Crunches - combining flexion with rotation in one of the best ab moves out there.
Mountain Climber - weight-bearing, anti-gravity position works all the layers of your abs.
Double Leg Raise - my favorite to target and isolate the lower abs.
Side Plank Hip Dip - the most-effective way to work the lateral core muscles.
The fastest way to shred your abs in a hurry!
Want a toned, defined tummy but lack the time to get it? You don't need a lot of time or even equipment to increase stomach definition, decrease fat, increase strength, and define that six-pack.
This ab workout requires zero equipment, hits every major muscle group in your abdomen, and is only 8 minutes long. It's the perfect way to finish off any workout or for those days when you're short on time.
So grab your timer and let's get to work!
For this "8-Minute Abs" routine, we're going to be performing 8 of my favorite at-home exercises for your abs.
We'll run through each of these 50 seconds on, 10 seconds off.
Keep in mind that because it's only 8 minutes long I want you to push as hard as you can for each exercise during the 50-seconds "on" period.
This is a great way to tone and tighten your midsection and do a lot of work in not-a-lot of time.

The Workout
1. How To Do An Ab Crunch - 50 seconds on, 10 seconds off
- Lay on your back with your knees bent, your fingertips placed behind your ears.
- Contract your abs to lift your shoulder blades up off of the floor.
- Slowly return to the starting position.
2. How To Do A Reverse Ab Crunch - 50 seconds on, 10 seconds off
- Lay on your back with a slight bend in your knees and your feet on the floor.
- Engage your abs and keep your back flat while you raise both knees up towards your chest.
- Slowly return to the starting position, but don't let your feet touch the floor.
3. How To Do A Russian Twist - 50 seconds on, 10 seconds off
- Sit in a reclined position leaning your torso back with your heels on the floor.
- Rotate your shoulders as far as you can to the left, and then back to the right.
- Continue rotating to each side.
4. How To Do A Plank - 50 seconds on, 10 seconds off
- Get in a low plank position on your elbows and toes.
- Your body should be in a straight line from your shoulders - hips - knees - ankles.
- Keep your stomach sucked in tight while holding this plank position.
5. How To Do A Bicycle Crunches - 50 seconds on, 10 seconds off
- Lay on your back with your hands placed behind your head.
- Lift your shoulder blades up off the floor and touch your right elbow to your left knee.
- Repeat to the other side by touching your left elbow to your right knee.
- Continue alternating in a slow, controlled manner.
6. How To Do A Mountain Climbers - 50 seconds on, 10 seconds off
- Get down in a tall plank position on your hands and toes.
- Bend your right knee up towards your right elbow and return to the starting position.
- Bend your left knee up towards your left elbow and return to the starting position.
7. How To Do A Double Straight-Leg Raise - 50 seconds on, 10 seconds off
- Lay on your back with your legs out straight.
- Keep your back flat, your stomach tight, and raise both straight legs up towards the ceiling.
- Slowly return to the starting position, but don't let your heels hit the ground.
8. How To Do A Side Plank with Hip Dip- 50 seconds on, 10 seconds off
- Get into a side plank position on your left elbow and outside of your left foot.
- Let your left hip drop towards the floor, then engage the left obliques to push your right hip up towards the ceiling.
- Slowly return to the "down" (left hip towards floor) position and repeat.

@@toneandtighten how many weeks or months would it take to show muscle gain results?
Gustavo Martinez if you’re consistent (maybe doing it every other day or at least 3 times a week) and be sure to keep eating healthy. avoid fatty foods and don’t fill your self up all the time. remember to drink LOTS OF WATER and to actually lose some weight be sure to stay active every day. go on walks often or go on a run. and make sure you get plenty of sleep (8+ hours)
and makes sure you go to bed before 12:00.
once you keep all these habits up, staying consistent with activities getting exercise, keeping a healthy diet (include protein) ..plenty of sleep and LOTS of water. stay consistent with these workouts too (try 3 times a week)
if u keep all of this up you should notice a big difference after maybe a month.
and remember you might have abs, but they’re not showing because fat is in the way. so keep working the abs to get them bigger and lose the fat to get them to show. 👊🏼👍🏼
is you don’t see results after a month. don’t stop. that’s one of the main reasons why ppl don’t get the results because they give up. keep theses habits going, stay consistent and i promise you they’ll come!

Out of the 1000’s of exercise videos, this is a 5⭐️ ab workout! At 8 minutes, it doesn’t waste a second. It’s like having a coach, showing me the correct positions, & telling me what abdominal muscles I’m working. Thank you for doing the exercises with us. It’s what pushes me to finish.

I completely agree, I love how every exercise is explained along the way and demonstrated how to correctly do it. Plus, I use this video every time to not only ensure I’m doing the correct exercise, but it helps to not stare at a timer and just listen to Jared for queues when I need to switch.

Been at this for 3 weeks, 5 times a week. Already I am able to keep up with him so much better than when I started and can see some result, still a long way to go.
I know its hard to keep going and even harder to actually start but just do what you can and try to push yourself just a little more each time before stopping for a rest.

This is a great routine. At 66 years old I go to the gym 3 or 4 days a week. This video helps me stay focused, so a couple of times a day for me. Being retired I have some time. Gotta keep moving. And yes, I like the bicycle crunches best.

Oh my goodness, I did this one right after doing your stretches for inflexible people and core exercise vids. Broke me out in a sweat and everything lol. Well it took about 5-7 days before I could even complete the full 8 minutes. The first day I don’t think I even got past the first minute and my abs and hurt pretty good for a couple of hours. But each day it got easier and my core got much stronger. By the end of 30 days my stomach was much tighter (not so much toner yet lol), it really helped my balance and core strength. I followed your plank workout each day with about 20min of yoga and could really tell the difference in my stretches and balance in the yoga flows! On day 2 now of your 8min Ab workout, I thought the planks really made day 1 feel like this was a breeze. But Day 2 smacked me right in the Abs, really really feeling it but lovin’ it at the same time! Thanks for the great routines, it’s a daily habit right after my treadmill and right before my yoga. Still waiting on the tone part, but I know and feel if I stick with it, it to will show!
The bicycle crunches and the double straight leg raises get my abs burning! I've been doing this ab workout for around 3 months now, 5 days a week and I love it. Stay on the grind!

Hello Jared. I've been doing your workouts since 2019 and I've lost a lot of weight. I was 186 lbs and now I'm down to 135. I just tried this workout and I got abs cramp for at least 5 minutes. Any advice on how to avoid this? I'm 2 min into this workout and I get cramps.

Awesome workout and awesome guidance! Tone and Tighten is the perfect channel to ignite your self-growth with. What I somehow noticed is that I tend to overuse my legs and thighs while doing bicycle crunches. Is there any way to improve this?

Hi - I'm nearly 56, a male, and I've been less than fit for a long time.
I saved this and your 'Intense Plank' videos *a long* time ago but have never done them - until today.
If I don't do something about my fitness and core strength now, I think I risk bring an overweight, unfit, and unhealthy old man.
Man, these are tough! First time doing them just now, and I couldn't complete every exercise. I'm a stubborn old goat, though, and will do them every day. I'm determined to get to the point where I can go through them entirely without stopping.
I will report back in four weeks time to let you know how I'm getting on.

This is the workout i have been searching for. Currently on second day. Taking 2-3 sec break between bicycle crunches and leg raises. Hopefully i will improve after a week or so. Thanks for the video.

My favorite, walk outs or “inch worms” as my trainer called them. I would go for a long reach. Is that an ab exercise? Your “8-minute Plank” is all I can do!
