- Renowned chess master Tunde Onakoya is in the midst of a challenging quest to set a new Guinness World Record for the longest chess marathon. Onakoya embarked on this endeavor at New York City’s iconic Times Square, beginning his marathon on Wednesday, April 17, with a goal to continuously play chess for 58 hours, concluding on April 19.
Eighteen hours into the event, Onakoya remains unbeaten, showcasing remarkable skill and endurance. He has triumphed over all challengers, including a notable victory against New York’s National Chess Master, Shawn Martinez.
