    if you have the stock throttle bodies with the seocndary motor attached, this is more of a PITA, but you can pull up on the motor gently while wiggling the cover and still get it out.. i know, i just did it.

      You have to put everything back together how it was before you took it apart, otherwise it won't work. Check for kinked fuel hose and lose throttle bodies.

    • @everydayirace

      Just 4 spots is fine, it only actually leaks on the kickstand side anyways because bike leans that way when you don't ride it.

    • @everydayirace
      @everydayirace  7 років тому

      That's correct. If your engine has a lot of blow by that would cause engine to leak as well, too much crank case pressure.

    Also the bike is taking longer than usual to warm up. The only way it’s starting now is with the choke fully on and if I try and give it throttle it shuts off. The bike also seems to be sputtering. Any tips on why or what it might be?

    • @everydayirace

      In colder temps the engine takes longer to warm up, carbed engines also need to be at operating temperature to run correctly.

    The wire behind the left side block off plate there in your video has a grey connector there. Mines the wire solid yellow color and other wire is either white with yellow stripe or it is yellow with white stripe. The solid yellow wire is fine. The other wire there it broke with the pin stuck in side of connector end. Is the solid yellow connected to its end male or female end pared to yellow wire red stripe ....and yellow with white stripe pared to red wire with blue stripe ?

    So I started my 05 Zx10r in the garage during the winter. It was about 10 degrees. I let it warm up to 200 degrees. A month later I noticed oil all around the valve cover seal. I have no idea why this would happen from a simple cold start and idle. Pretty sure it wasn’t there before. Any ideas?

    • @everydayirace
      @everydayirace  5 років тому

      I honestly think your valve cover is leaking, the only way i know how to fix it is to replace the gasket. And "simple" cold starts aren't very good for the engines impo.

    • @Captndarty
      @Captndarty 5 років тому

      EVERY DAY I RACE ok thanks. I more so meant by “simple” as in no throttling at all and letting it warm up slowly and evenly to burn oil any moisture in the oil. I wonder if the gasket is a weak point on the ninja and having that large dip on the sides is more susceptible to cold weather. It is 14 years bold but only having 10k on it I’m surprised

    • @everydayirace
      @everydayirace  5 років тому

      Valve cover gasket is made out of rubber, like tires, rubber hardens up with time and cracks, but even if it's a weak point, it's easy to replace. I'd be more concerned about the other weak points of 04-05 zx10r, like frame that cracks, like valve retainers that crack and the engine goes boom, like charging system that goes out and takes out the engine with it, like front brake system that was designed for a 49cc scooter, like front duct that cracks...............there are more things that i would be concerned than a leaky valve cover lol.
