    I love thrifting. Uniqueness in every isle from a bygone era is so enthralling, especially the wood pieces, the diy possibilities from those beautiful vintage shapes on lamps and vases, gorgeous wood frames, and furniture pieces made from solid wood and intricate detailing. I enjoy feeling transported to the past for a time. Love your channel!

      Yes, I agree! Nothing like the thrill of the hunt in a thrift store (or yard sale) never knowing what you'll find and from what era. Thank you, glad you're here :)

    YES - Side curtains in linen would be lovely. But raise the rod up higher! In between the top of the window, and the ceiling.
    (And you should get someone to sew you proper (faux) Roman shades. It didn't look good with the rods.)
    Thank you for a great inspirational channel. I'm binge watching your Christmas decor ones. 🌟

    I think curtains on either side of your dining room windows would soften the space and help add texture and interest. I have just learned that more is more on curtains and have doubled up the widths to get a fuller, more expensive look. It made a huge difference in my rooms! I am working on curtains for my dining room window now as well!

    Isn’t it wonderful to get something inexpensive especially when it’s not even available in stores. My daughter bought me a 17 inch carved wood Loon for Christmas from an estate sale. I’ve always wanted one. It’s beautiful and really adds a needed touch to my living room. I’m older now and have a disability so I don’t get out much. But I went to estate sales for 25 years and have some wonderful things. We don’t have very many thrift stores in the Dallas Texas area.

    • @TashaatHome
      @TashaatHome  10 місяців тому

      That sounds like a great find! I'm surprised to hear you don't have many thrift stores in your area though. Not that I am familiar with the area, I just assumed it was more populated and so would have plenty. Interesting!

      There are probably 4 goodwills and the merchandise is so icky. Nothing is ever changed.a new one opened up. In a suburb but there’s not much in it and they’ve never set up the computers for checking out. I did buy 3 wooden bowls inside of each other. It was wrapped in 4 layers of Saran Wrap so it was difficult to see what it was. I took a chance and found the handmade unfinished bowls for $4. I ordered some walnut oil to use to finish them. There are several upscale clothing resale shops. But they aren’t cheap. In Dallas, shopping is a sport. Women go shopping all the time for new things. We have many estate sales here. So we must keep our crap until we die, lol.

      Hi Tasha. I loved this video. You are so lucky to have thrift stores with good prices. We just have estate sales . I love the urn , the the throw is gorgeous. I am always trying to do something with my too small laundry room. That gorgeous picture would make me happy. I loved that material . I don’t do curtains..just blinds. Our home is small and I feel like it closes off the room more. I like the Roman shade in the dining room and don’t think you need curtains. I love your style. ❤❤❤❤

      I don't have a video but I described it for another commenter so I'll paste that here! (And maybe I'll put it in a video soon too)
      I grate a 5 oz bar of fels-naptha (or another laundry soap bar will do, like Zote), and have on hand 1.5c of borax and 1.5c of washing soda. I heat a very large pot (like a crab pot) full of water on the stove and then stir in all the grated fels-naptha, and let it dissolve while stirring. Then I add the borax and let it dissolve in. Then the washing soda. It thickens as you add each part. When it's all incorporated, I set it outside for several hours to cool. It gets kind of clumpy as it cools with a thicker layer on top, so I use an immersion blender (a stick blender) to blend/smooth it all out once it's cool and then divide it up into my containers 😁 It fills two large regular size laundry detergent containers plus the four smaller ones you see on my shelves.

I heat a large pot (like a crab pot) full of water on the stove and then stir in all the grated fels-naptha, and let it dissolve while stirring. Then I add the borax and let it dissolve in. Then the washing soda. It thickens as you add each part. When it's all incorporated, I set it outside for several hours to cool. It gets kind of clumpy as it cools with a thicker layer on top, so I use an immersion blender (a stick blender) to blend/smooth it all out and then divide it up into my containers 😁 It fills two large regular size laundry detergent containers plus the four smaller ones you see on my shelves.

      Oh man sorry they were closed! I love to visit the Goodwills in Apex and Cary, and usually have good luck at the Goodwill on Barton Grove Rd in north Raleigh, especially if you're also looking at clothing 😊

    New to your channel! Are you by chance based out of Raleigh NC? Dorcas is my local thrift shop but I haven’t seen your other videos so I’m not sure :)

    How do you make your detergent?

    • @TashaatHome
      @TashaatHome  Рік тому +1

      I grate a 5 oz bar of fels-naptha (or another laundry soap bar will do, like Zote), and have on hand 1.5c of borax and 1.5c of washing soda. I heat a large crab pot full of water on the stove and then stir in all the grated fels-naptha, and let it dissolve while stirring. Then I add the borax and let it dissolve in. Then the washing soda. It thickens as you add each part. When it's all incorporated, I set it outside for several hours to cool. It gets kind of clumpy as it cools with a thicker layer on top, so I use an immersion blender to blend/smooth it all out and then divide it up into my containers 😁 It fills two large regular size laundry detergent containers plus the four smaller ones you see on my shelves.

    Just saw a gal use cheap blinds under Roman Shades to re-create faux Roman Shades. Hope this makes sense.

    “No” for the curtains.

    I would not add curtains. The view outside that window is like an art piece. It would be a shame to take away from that and the blinds add enough to it.

      That's a great point. I would definitely not want to take away any natural light or view into the woods (which are honestly a lot prettier at other times of year...the bush right outside the window is an azalea and in the springtime it has bright pink blossoms all over it right up against the window!) If I did add curtains I would definitely add them so they hung completely outside the window as a frame, but not covering any of the window up. Thanks for your point!
