By far one of the worst missions I've EVER played in all of games. Given the shit handling and driving mechanics this single mission made me quit playing the game for over 3 years.
my tips for winning the race, 1) use the water sprays on the short-cuts in the race when your rides damaged; 2) tap the breaks and take finger off the accelerator round corners and this will help you stay in control- drifting recovery is difficult to master; 3) use boost on the straights as hitting before corners will smash you into walls 4) this is only a choice// I changed my ride to keep the acceleration higher so only had the 4th defense armor and 3rd bumper for attack (change it to help your driving style)- this you need to prepare before starting the race. Good luck all
I went without any armor. you just need speed and powerful explosions to end this race really early. Using armor and or any heavy lift, makes you lose the race

Been failing this mission a dozen times over and been spoutin curse words that don't even exist. I didn't realize you could hit him immediately from the start. That should help

For those who want to win, my method: archangel demon of speed, the best tires, the best V6 engine, level 3 grenade launcher. Immediately after the start, use the booster, ram everyone, and use the grenade launcher on the boss. 3-4 shots, and it's done in 30 seconds.
Did this about 50 times...then did Speed demon with upgraded tired and turbo'd to the front and the target in 5...took about 6 tries with the faster car.
Let me tell you, this is the easiest mission. Just don't focus on driving. Just aim the piston at him from the start and try to catch up to him. The more you hit him, the slower he gets. I finished it in 1 min

Man, I hate video games, which have no choosable difficulty level >:( The least they could do is make the race a bit easier after an X amounts of failing. But no - mines, fire, asshole enemies and a car which slides around as if on butter. Fuck this level.
This race can not be done I have tryed for 4 years on the same race I have try every known way I have put both handling and defence boots on my car haw you did it in 3 shots is beyond me
Have you tried going glass cannon. Just get your car as fast as possible. That's what I did and finished within 10 tries. Focus on getting the thundercap hits asap
It can be done! Believe me, I was about to delete the game until I read a few different posts. I ended up taking off most of the protection off the car and increased handling and acceleration and got it done first go after countless tries before it. Turns out the drive is easier than the boss you have to fight after the race! But if I could do it so can you. The trick is to get close and stick with him and having the car set-up for handling and acceleration is the key.

@@MrCarpen7er same thing happened to me but with mafia definitive edition. the mission was to destroy a turret from the a very unstable moving car. that was only a 30-40 second mission depending on whether you die or win.. it ends so fast. you and your car's health decreases even faster
This game obviously wasn't tested before release, the handling of the cars in no way relates to the environment, the level difficulty is inconsistent and borderline impossible Then there's the combat with input about as delayed as the driving, buttons don't respond at all in some cases Do better!

Initially I made a mistake, that I was restarting the game after I didn't manage to destroy Stunk Gum car right at the beginning (didn't realize we would be guaranteed to catch up with him later), but when I finally continued, paying attention not to be destroyed by others or walls, I finally destroyed that vehicle. BTW, it would be the nice feature, if after destroying his car, it would be possible to chain Stank Gum by the neck to Opus Magnum and haul him like that to the finish line. However, [SPOILERS below] the possibility of saving Hope and her daughter would be even nicer, but we can't do it neither. :(
This was my favourite game, until I tried this mission. Horribly handling car, slammed against walls, car damaged by the time I catch up. Won't be playing it again. why make an otherwise great game so hard?
I have a good friend who went through this mission once. and easily .and didnt understand at all what people want lol I imagine it's a personal matter for everyone it took me 7 times some it after 4 and share once this game is excellent and this mission should not ruin the game experience

I beat this on my first try, don't mean to brag. The max nitro boost helps a ton and improve your handling as well.

After 4 years .. i tried once again.. and i did it! just in 40 seconds xD
Let me tell you, this is the easiest mission. Just don't focus on driving. Just aim the piston at him from the start and try to catch up to him. The more you hit him, the slower he gets. I finished it in 1 min

I was able to beat it in under a minute by spamming the nitrous boost and throwing as many thunderpoons as I could once I caught up to Stank Gum
