Living Wild and Off-grid Deep in the Serra da Estrela Mountains

A snapshot of what we got up to during our stay in the Serra da Estrela mountain range, in Gouveia, Guarda - which is in North-Central Portugal. It's an incredibly beautiful region that was sadly hit by forest fires in 2017 and 2022, almost destroying the family's home that we were living at. The family (who are inspirational geniuses!) managed to restore much of their land and we were helping out for two weeks. Our work included maintaining the organic veggie garden and lots of babysitting.
We met two lovely volunteers, Rosalia and Luis, who were honestly a godsend, helping to keep our toddler occupied during times of desperation when we needed an extra hand. You might see them again in our future videos as we travelled a bit with them! Big shout out to you guys, love love love! x
