Felt like I was back in the 70's with this one. Nice gainy and semi overdrive tones! This thing comes in 4 colors, black, natural, olympic white and walnut. The one is this video is the Walnut, and apparently I didn't know that color existed, because I couldn't figure that out when I was filming...

I collect and modify Strats and this one is the best one out of the box I've ever bought. Came with a perfect set up from Guitar Center.
This was my very first guitar! Just upgraded, but this one will forever hold a special place in my heart. Great guitar, and great review!
Got mine yesterday. After about 30 minutes, off to tech for a complete setup. Worst setup I ever saw from the factory. I know it's a Squire, but I expected better. I'm sure it will be fine when I get it back.
Mike Corey yeah. For future purchases, I would recommend shopping at Sweetwater, because they set up your guitar before they ship it to you at no additional cost. And they have excellent customer service.
You are a gifted player. The improvisation is very imaginative and tasteful. Great chops.
Thanks man?
the colour is walnut...has a de luxe look and feel about it.
Great review and playing. I just bought one. Thanks.
Wonderful review! Made everything crystal clear. Please, make a review of Fender Classic Vibe 70’s HSS BLK maple wood fretboard. Eagerly waiting... Thanks!
Looking at one of these for a second guitar (to my LP). Really like the HSS set up
Great TRAFFIC loop !
Really enjoyed that intro. Good playing!
Thsnks
That's some Mountain Dew shredding right there!! Sweet Classic Vibe.
Wow! Thanks
Best review of this guitar, totally appropriate having those Pink Floyd inspired jams. Everyone else just tries to be John Mayer when reviewing these things. Much appreciated
Very nice guitar. Great player
Thanks Cody!
Great review,Is the 2nd tone knob usable for bridge pickup also?
Sir Loved your all videos...Just want your opinion which sounds overall good between Classic vibe 50s Strat or 70s HSS. Does HSS makes big difference or 50s tones are better?
That thing sounds great.
Just got through listening to some higher-priced HSS (Fender) Strats that seriously didn't sound as good as this damn Squier.
Is this a good guitar to play?
Whats the differences between this one and the HSH pao Ferro ??
Do you know it would be helpful to me trying to see which one to.purchase.
I know his video is 4Yrs old but to be honest I just enjoy your playing and I have watched plenty of your videos over the years.. But I have been considering purchasing a Classic Vibe Strat and I can’t decide on getting a 50’s in Fiesta Red or a 70’s HSS.. Then I remembered you made a video of the 70’s Classic Vibe so I’m watching your video again😂 I think I’m going to go for the 70’s Classic Vibe HSS it just seems more versatile?
Craig
Also I am not sure if you are sponsored or not, but it appears you demo all kinds of different guitars so I was wondering if you might consider doing a guitar demo video on the ‘Sire’ guitars mainly the Sire S3 and Sire S7? I would be very interested in what you think of the guitars and those particular model numbers I mentioned.. Thank you for your consideration..
Craig
good job
Is it possible to hear cleaner tones?
You had some great riffs but I want to hear if that guitar would be better for surf/western than say the 50s classic vibe strat.
Also, how did the Indonesia factory feel compared to the China factory?
I love the looks of a les paul. But i also love the sound of a strat...
Id say you need one of both. I know I do. YOu dont have to go big on the price. I know I dont.
Thanks for the review. It looks great, it sounds great. Some clean tones would have been nice though.
Thank! Clean tones, what are those....🤘😁
Does in position 2 three coils are activated, right? Both humbuckers coils and the middle one; that means you have not humcancelling in this posotion. Please confirm. Thanks.
I would like to know, does these models have any electronic noise? Thanks in advance.
Nice
Hello, what is the title of the last song you performed in the demo? thank you for your reply
Geat music
I'm looking for a budget(ish) guitar to play in a pop punk band (also a leftie). Is this guitar suitable do you think or would you recommend something else? Alas I have small hands and have often struggled with a Gibson-style neck despite the Epiphone's obvious appeal!
Yeah man, you'd love this guitar.
Hi! Great review! I have a question. I'm torn between this and the PRS SE Custom 24 as my first electric. If versatility is top priority, which one would you recommend? Thank you!
PRS for sure.
Whats the different clasic vibe with squier standard startocaster?
Thanks LM on my way
Is the tremolo good?
Are you sure this is not a Fender USA in disguise? This is one great guitar at any price! Pretty smooth playing.
What sort of effects were you running here?
Does this 70's hum when you turn on the volume knob?
HAVE THE 6O'S CHANGED OUT TUNERS SET IT UP TO FLOAT PLAYS JUST AS GOOD AS MY 2 USA STRATS AND COMES BACK TO PITCH. NEVER WAS FOND OF THE 70'S HEADSTOCK STILL GONNA CHECK IT OUT WHEN THEY COME AROUND MY AREA. IS THIS D SHAPE NECK ? NICE STUDIO AND PLAYING.
C shaped neck, thanks!
When I want a tonal reminder of what this model can do, this is the demo that beats all the rest..hands down. If Fender were smart, they'd put Rich on the payroll.
Thanks!
Just bought one in same color.
Saw it while out buying some other guitars and something about it stood out and caught my eye.It looked like a quality guitar at first glance, took it down off the wall, gave it a whirl and it spoke to me..It said BUY ME,so I bought it and haven't looked back.
It's a cool guitar in a color I wouldn't normally give a second look at and I'm still not crazy about the color, but I didn't have a guitar in Walnut,
Mine is kind of a dark maroonish color least I think so, anyway,so I said oh well, what the hey..Take it home..It looks, feels, plays and sounds like a quality guitar for the money.I really like it.. The neck feels pretty good, just wish it was rosewood or better yet a maple fingerboard..
Ahh maybe the next one will be maple.
Go check one out somewhere.
Would you consider this a good guitar for the money ? Looking to buy the black with maple fretboard hss one and wanna make sure I’m not wasting money lol. It would be my first ever electric guitar.
This is a great first guitar! Enjoy!
Hi,Rich nice video, can you do a demo of the Charvel Pro-mod DK 24 PT CM,through your Hiex effect thanks
If I can get my hands on one.
Sounds nice! I am gonna start electric guitar this year and I am considering between this and Fender Player Lead 2 Stratocaster as my first guitar. Which one would u recommend?
Thank u for reviewing this guitar! Awesome!
I'd get the player.
@@RichBischoff Thank you :)
I got mine in White ... after watching this video !!! .... Can you tell me, please, if you don't mind, about the backing track at the intro ?
I searched 70s backing track on youtube, ot Pink Floyd backing track and I found the backing track. Dont remember what it was called.
@@RichBischoff ua-cam.com/video/rEZH0t5Yozw/v-deo.html
Hi! Quality wise how different are the 50 and 70 ones and wich do you preffer? I want to buy one but i'm not sure wich one should i get.
I think overall quality on the 50's one is better, fretwork etc. I'll be releasing a comparison vid of the 50s 60s and 70s classic vibe shortly.
@@RichBischoff thanks! That would be great!
You still have the walnut guitar
Hi Rich! Wich guitars is better Squier Classic Vibe '70s Stratocaster or Mexican strat?
It really depends on which Mexican Strat you get. The custom shop inspired made in Mexico stuff is pretty good, and you usually get unique pickups etc. Just depends.
VIP JET. I have both Strats and neither one is better than the other. Both are excellent choices. They are very different from each other in feel and sounds.
What are you using for that tone? Sounds great!
Im using a fuzz in the Line 6 Helix, I don't remember which one. Sorry.
@@RichBischoff It's cool man! Just subscribed, looking forward to more awesome content from you!
Would this be suitable for pop punk? I'm torn between this, epiphone les paul (although I think I would find it uncomfortable) or a Mexican Tele...
I think you'd be happy with a Tele.
@@RichBischoff a regular one, no humbuckers? Will it have enough 'umph'?
hows the sustain on it?
It's nice to see someone review cheaper guitars but who can also play the shit out of them.
Definitely got a new sub!
Thanks!
Hi! How does the indian laurel fretboard feel on your fingers? Thank you!
Feels good!
@@RichBischoff Thank you!
@@fedestrat2caster Welcome
The first part was a bit fizzy for my tastes but good playing none the less. Is Steve Winwood a genius or what!
Well I did have a fuzz pedal on.... it's a 70s strat... see what I did there?
@@RichBischoff Yes, I knew you were fuzzing, but there's good and bad fuzz! Like the fuzz I'm getting on my ears and what is left on my head in some spots is bad fuzz! LOL Billy Corgan on the other hand is good fuzz, as is Gilmour and others.
@@RichBischoff 😁
Have you played the 70s version of this guitar? If so what are your thoughts between the two.
This is the 70's version, do you mean a real fender 70's strat?
@@RichBischoff Sorry, I see it now, it's a HSS. No I was talking about the 70s classic vibe. I'm trying to decide between the 60s and the 70s models. Not an easy task without playing one in person. I'm not in the country right now so that isn't an easy task.
@@Mr.56Goldtop I liked the 60s better.
@@RichBischoff Will it give me an authentic Sweet Home Alabama tone? That's what I'm after. And Ed King played it on a 1973 strat. Of course it wasn't a Squire classic vibe though, lol!
@@Mr.56Goldtop I'm sure it'll get close. I did a video on that one as well.
It comes with the whammy, correct?
Yes
I just ordered the Squier Stratocaster 70s in natural . I nevered own a fender squire Stratocaster be for can anyone tell me if I made a good choice buying one . 👍 Me up . Thanks TroyFrost / Troyster 😎 CoolRiffs 😎 Cool 🎸 🤘🤘 🤘
I am so happy whit mine🙌
The new line of Classic Vibe instruments is incredible. I had a Squier VM Strat in high school, it was pretty great for it's price. Now I've been maining one of the new Classic Vibe Jazzmasters, the quality is fantastic
Which one is more comfortable to play ? old classic vibe (60's) or this one ? Also which one hold tunning better?
I liked the 60's better.
Does it have a dedicated Tone knob for the bridge pickup?
Yes
@@davidkastin4240 I bought one 3 months ago, and no, they don't.
@@Luis-rn4ps Yeah I took mine out to check it. My bad, I thought it was wired that way ✌ The pickups are phenomenal 👍
@@davidkastin4240 Yes they are! The neck plays amazing too
Are these pickups different from the 50s CV?
I think so.
The pickups in the classic vibes are usually designed to represent the era they represent so i think the 70's are a little hotter then the singles of the 60s and 50'd
Chris Betts I read somewhere that that is no longer the case. I got a couple 50s which returned due to flaws and finally got a 60s and they sounded pretty much the same to me. But not sure..
i’m looking for a john mayer kind of sound i’m i’ve only been playing for a couple of months do you recommend it?
I'd like at the 60's classic vibe for mayer stuff, ua-cam.com/video/-59hgdk-9_U/v-deo.html and this one for queen either way, pretty decent guitars for the price.
Can i play Nirvana songs with that guitar?
You play anything you want...
or queen
... Traffic... :) ❤️
Luca Lindemann What’s the song?
@@CJ-jh9ri The Low Spark Of High Heeled Boys, fantastic tune... ❤️
Luca Lindemann You’re a hero! Thanks!
the intro is like "70's porno music" just right for the classic vibe 70's strattocarsterrrrrr...hmmmmmmmm yeahhhhhh..!
Glad to hear that classic vibe not made in china anymore
Why? Classic Vibe has been a tremendous success for Squier thanks to China. Wages for employees in mainland China have been rising rapidly though and they need to keep costs down is the reason for the move to Indonesia I bet. Vintage Modified, another series from Squier in recent years, have always been manufactured in Indonesia. And you know what? VM series guitars are widely considered to be inferior instruments. I hope this does not hurt the CV line.
@@blvckvv999 just one reason because so many good quality wood in Indonesia
@@blvckvv999 For what it's worth I have owned a bunch of em the VM's and now the CV's are the same they just increased the range and called em CV's and upped the price ! The VM's were always $200 or so cheaper than chinese CV's. I always look for Indo Squiers as they are better overall even down to the Bullet range😉
It's taken 6 months for me to finally like this thing. If you're looking for a Strat sound, this isn't it. The only decent pickup is the neck. Plan on changing them. The humbucker has no tone at all. That said, the guitar itself is good. If you've never played the tall frets, it will take some getting used to. Press too hard and you're out of tune. And you'll need a tube amp for this guitar. Solid state or digital amps just don't work with it. Maybe with different pickups.
Body?
Poplar.
I like the walnut, it's sort of like the '70s mocha brown, but I wish it was all black plastic instead of the white. I also like that it's not made in (f'ing) China.
True
nothing wrong with chinese guitar made. Nowdays Indonesia manufactoring labor is cheaper to made/also cheaper to import wood.
@@diddymies My comment has nothing to do with the quality of the guitars made in (f'ing) China. You've missed the point entirely.
Tacky that they replaced the cool Classic Vibes sticker with a Fender lessons advertisement sticker. I'd leave the Classic Vibes sticker on, but that Fender lessons sticker wouldn't last 5 minutes out of the box.
Ha
You must be tall every guitar looks little in your hands what are you like 6.6
