- So far our winter temps have been warmer than usual resulting in numerous ice rescues so far this year. On Friday night more than 100 people needed to be rescued after a chunk of ice broke free.

People are stupid. I grew up with lakes. Every Winter we all waited until the fire department said the ice was thick enough to skate on it. NO ONE EVER FELL THROUGH THE ICE, because we weren't stupid.

Every single year, same stupid story and people, and always a DNR representative telling people to be careful on thin ice. Has that EVER done any good?

Why rescue them? Just wait for the ice to freeze back over and they can walk back.
