Yes that is a good idea I been working on cars and airbag so long I never disconnect the battery unless I'm playing with the airbag module or the sensor. As long as your very careful removing and disconnecting the connector you won't have any problems
Very informative video, you make it look so easy. After watching, though, I would conclude that the steering wheel switches on my 2013 Fusion S aren't bad but that I have a wiring problem. I bought the car a few months ago and did not drive it all that much until recently. I now notice that the cruise control buttons randomly go dark when driving at night. I haven't noticed the buttons on the right side of the steering wheel, whether they also go dark, but what started as a random flickering is becoming more persistent.
@@Nickthecarguy On my car, several switches on both sides of the steering SEEM to be working correctly, they just don't light up at night like they should.
Im planning on using my fusion 2013 titanium as a real cockpit for race game when i'll be done paying for it in 5 years :( .. and i was wondering how i could reuse all the controls and shift pads ... now that you showed me the inside .. doesn't look too hard .. Thanks ;)
Nick, I've got a 2014, so theres no need to worry about the air bag deploying when disconnecting the connectors?... bc Ive read on fusion forums that there's a procedure to run through before disconnecting the airbag. thank you for your feedback!
I would always recommend disconnect the batter and wait for couple minutes befor playing with the airbag. In the video I never disconnect the battery I been messing with airbag for a while and knocking on wood havent had one deploy on me. Now if I were messing with the rcm I would definitely disconnect the battery the rcm detects movement if its flipped upside down it can deploy all the airbag or if the module hit hard it can also deploy airbag.
Hello my rigth side controls dosent work , i mean if i push botton to select phone the arrows up and down dosnet move. But if i push arrows left and rigth then menu moves , if i select control voice , then speaker turn off , and i cant use it, if i push phone bottons then music moves to next radio station station i
I noticed the module you installed is not the same as the module you removed. The one you installed, I thought, was for adaptive cruise where the one you pulled out is for standard cruise. Are they really interchangeable?
My cruise control wasn’t working due to the fact that I couldn’t use the left switches for some reason, couldn’t reset my oil life of accepts any message on the dash pressing ok. I decide to replace it following this tutorial, got done in 30 min. But switch still not working... any ideia ? Help!!!!
Did you happened to resolve your control issue? My Fusion arrow and ok button work fine, but the cruise control does not work. I have replaced the Brake Light Switch and the Whole Left Side Steering Wheel Buttons, and neither helped.
@@brandofromdaband0 I did end up fixing it. I had to replace the clock spring in the steering wheel. It wasn't too hard, there is videos on UA-cam showing how to do it. After that everything worked perfectly.
So was this you're fix to you're post on this video ua-cam.com/video/BHDSydRvBIc/v-deo.html I'm dealing with the same trouble with my 2017 fusion right now
I've seen that video befor I bought my car i never had that problem with mine. On the video that almost sounded like the steering module went out of he got no turnsignal no steering button and now wiper switch.
Good idea to disconnect the battery when working with the air bag.

Great video!
Do you happen to know which fuse from the driver side fuse box controls the steering wheel buttons?

@@howardkerr8174 does the paddle shifter light up? To me it sound like a wiring issue. Is the dimmer switch set all the way low
Appreciate ya got it out in 2 minutes 😊
Could you just do mine!? lol This video was very helpful and I will try!
Nice video. My controls work but some of the lights are out. Any way to open these control modules and replace the bulbs?
Unfortunately the bulbs are led not serviceable
Nice video, very helpful, thanks for posting it. 👍

Hi Nick, which dimension screw driver did u use. I need a lil bit of help here. Thanks
Did this take care of your problem? My cruise only works sometimes and my volume down turns the radio up.
Then this wouldn’t help you. It sounds like you have a bad clock spring.
Amazing, Thank you!

I'm wondering if it's a bad steering switch or steering module.

Mine i added adaptive cruise control so I had to change my switch to one with adaptive switch
Thanks a lot it worked well.
Thank you 🙏
thank you thank you!
Nice project
Where are u located
I am located in Evansville Indiana
Before Start to work on a Airbag, please disconnect car battery.
You should but i never do unless I'm working on the actual airbag module or the impact sensor
@Nick the car guy
What about the yellow connectors underneath the seat ? No need whatsoever? 🤔
The yellow connector the only yellow connector I know under the seat is for airbag
