Thanks for this. Getting the screws out and back in again from the back of the steering wheel was the hardest part. No corrosion to see, but a bit of contact cleaner and it all works fine again now.
It worked!!! :) THANK YOU! It took me 2 hours, because of the cold beers I had with me in the garage and some heavy rock music. And I did not disconnect the battery. I used professional contact cleaner spray and followed your recommendations. To all who are going to do that: Something important - Here in Europe the cars are left steering wheel. In video is right. It doesn't matter. The method is same. AND be extremely carefully when putting the control buttons together. There are very gentle contacts inside and should fit perfectly. I've opened it 5 times till get it right. BUT VERY GENTLE!!! Do not rush! No hurry! Once again - What's the music in the video? :)
Glad if worked for you aswell! no clue about music !You can go in your account/youtube studio/audio library and you have there loads of free music ! You can use it because is no copyright music!
Removed, disassembled and cleaned switch contacts with contact cleaner on cotton buds. Now working perfectly. Also caused ‘ voice control ‘ button to work.
Thanks! I have (sorry had) a non functioning volume switch and hesitated to search for the cause. After seeing your video a started today and successfully repaired the switch (after 4 years of non functioning)! Very happy and really thanks a lot for your super and well explained video. Thanks! Frank (B)
Thank you for this video! It was really useful! Unfortunately, in my case, the chip looks spotless, so it has to be an electrical issue somewhere along the wires. I tried cleaning it thoroughly, but no changes.
Just repaired my media control switch after watching the video.. There are some details to be taken care during removal of the silver bezel.. Many thanks.. 👍
Yes, thank you! Both of them hardly worked in my Fiesta Sport but now it works how it should be. The two screws on top of the steering wheel were a pain in the ass. Still didn't managed to put them back in place.
Thank u very much for this video, i prefered to replace the unit with a new one and you helped me a lot to do it on my own. I agree that the most difficult part is to put the screws (to the steering wheel) back again. The screws to be inserted and stay inside the old plastics is not an easy task, they can get loose and never fit. I bought the unit on ebay for around 50 euro while it costs around 120 in ford. Of course to clean it is better choice financially .
Thanks for the video, cleaning the contacts with contact cleaner fixed it, even though they looked clean. This was a tad harder on a car with cruise control, but still done without removing the airbag. I still disconnected the battery to stop it honking as I pressed the trim back. The two screws on the back that go in at an angle are hard to get back in, I ended up using some glue to stick them to the end of my screwdriver so I could get them in straight.
Thanks for this video, had a intermittent issue (would work for a little bit then stop). Couldn't see any corrosion but cleaned it anyways, saved at least £50 on getting a replacement part.
Just done this and it seems to have helped the music volume/track skip issue (need to try cruise control to check still working ok/better). Thank you to the video uploader! However getting the screws out and particularly back into the rear of the steering wheel is possibly the singularly most annoying and frustrating thing I’ve ever done so if you value your sanity, think about paying someone to do it for you.
Ty it might work or i may have to order new. It all worked and then i replaced the radio with another OEM used one and now steering wheel controls are useless.
@@onit5669 indeed. During the 6 months I bought my 2010 Fiesta, I had to do small fixes like this now and then. Now my final challenge is to figure out why my car makes a whistling sound when in acceleration in specific torques :D

I've just done this, thanks for the video. There was no corrosion but I sprayed it with contact cleaner anyway. When I put it back together, the volume down works but the
Only one button was working on my radio control. After cleaning it with contact cleaner, now 3 button works, but not all of them. Any idea why? Important is that Volume+ and Volume- is working. :)

Thank you sir. I could not see any obvious corrosion but just the act of opening and inspection appeared to fix the issue.
With welcome! Glad you sort it out! All the best!
Perfect description, very good, thanks

Hi, great video. Can you please clarify how to handle the airbag?
Thanks, I'm going to try this on my 2019 Fiesta ST

£76 for whole unit !
I bought a replacement button for £20

Try to clean rubber part aswell, but be carefull, don t put too much pressure! 🥂
@@onit5669 Well, I did it too. There was nothing visible on both parts.. Just small black dots on the rubber part, but not sere if this is the cause..

Good work 👍👍👍
Brilliant..
