also when you want to rev up the engine while parked you have to hold down both paddle shifters and that will allow you to rev. well its at least that way in the gt models.
Nice review. I’d say the 718 Spyder manual is a better drivers car, but it is raw and not as comfortable. I would get the Targa GTS as a more comfortable daily driver/longer distance tourer.
BMWs seem to have the most German personality of all the German Brands but, I always considered Porsche to be the most impressive German brand over all the other German auto makers. My brother in-law is the original owner of a 2006 Porsche Boxster and it is still on the road and he has had zero problems with it all these years. He was able to avoid the high-dealership service fees by doing a front end brake job himself, as a DIY mechanic.
You’re not supposed to dump the clutch. You’re supposed to feather it from the bite point. In another video someone was able to get 3.5 seconds to 60 by feathering the clutch on launch.
Gorgeous car! Loved the review. It is crazy you have to spent thousands to get a car Over 100k to look like 100k and manual seats in a car that expensive is outrageous but it is Porsche
@@toddinthemiddle Thanks. The details weren't fully my decision. But paddles or stick, I'm not going to complain about being able to own a car like this.
The C8/Z51 HTC is probably a better comparison and a top trim optioned 3LT HTC is @ $103k vs $181k and TBH the Corvette interior looks better and the top up and top down look is better especially with the black top/nacelles/A pillar.
@@OMGWTFLOLSMH Well, I've got a 3LT with natural/black interior and it sure looks a hell of a lot better. The Porsche seats look more like the C8s base seats.
Now that Porsche is willing to make the GT3 Touring, I wish they’d go another step and do a GT3 Touring Targa. Plus it would take the brand to the next step in having the longest name badge of any car on the rear 😬
I love the the look of the Targa if I was in the market for one of these aka if I could afford one of these I would opt for one of the targa models over the the coupe Or convertible
Please put the length / wheelbase etc in cm in text in the video. Doug deMuro does the same with torque. He mentions ft lb, but in the video the number in nm is shown. Thanks!
Great review. I'm with you regarding the targa hoop and wheels not being satin black, unfortunately the GTS spec forces that finish on the targa hoop. Too bad you can't get the more traditional finishes with the up rated engine. That would be fun.
All sports car should just be Targas like this, the Miata RF or the C8 convertable. They would sell more and look great top up or down. Soft tops only look good top down. I would buy a Nissan Z if it was Targa like this. I will stay with my 2016 Z4 until a decent well priced alternative shows up. This one is great other than the price. If they made a 30% bigger Miata (around the size of a Z4) with a 400 HP turbo I would buy one.
It is a hardtop. It's comprised of 2 flat magnesium panels covered in a fabric to mimic the original targa. Porsche actually refers to it as the "hardtop element" in its press releases.
I've always been curious about the appeal of the Targa. What do you think is the benefit over the convertible? I assume it needs the addional rigidiy like a convertible, and therefore more weight?
Thank you for asking instead of immediately "pooh-pooh-ing" it as some of the earlier commentators have done (e.g., "coupe or convertible! - why this?") As an Owner of exactly this model, but 991.2, here are my reasons: 1. It looks better than either coupe or cab. 2. Cannot have a conversation on the freeway in a cabriolet without yelling. 3. Feel too open & 'vulnerable' in a cab a la JFK. 4. 1st car was T-tops, and it was the perfect combination; this replicates it. 5. It transforms.
I don’t understand the point of the Targa. Just get a coupe or a convertible. Not something with an uglier rear and an awkward sunroof. I’m a diehard Porsche fan but never got the point of the targa. Weighs more and costs more.
The Targa is one of the heaviest. It's why lots of people pass on them. If you don't like the sun beating down on your head, like me, or the extra weight, you don't buy a Targa. TBH, it's not my favourite body style either, the rear glass is too bulbous looking. I'm a coupe man when it comes to the 911. But if a smoking hot deal on a used Targa in the right colour came across my plate, I wouldn't turn it down. I don't hate it, it's just not my top pick. I'd probably leave the roof up 95% of the time, so why get a Targa?
Fantastic car no doubt, but really, 175 grand? Hard to get to excited, the 718 gts at 100 grand scenibly optioned is a better buy. Much less a mustang gt. After all a real mustang is More rewarding than a fantasy 911
Porsche has gone nuts. Stuff like heating steering wheel, power folding mirrors, memory seats and adaptive cruise should all be standard in a car of this stature and price. It's ridiculous and it's put me off the brand. You can find all that stuff in $40k cars. The upcharge for paint to sample in Canada is over $13k. If you want them to mix a gallon of paint at the factory they want to charge you almost $15k with tax. IDIOTIC.

Interesting take. I happen to think Porsche is one of the only brands that make an attractive convertible.
I love this car, but it's too luxurious, should be sportier.
