@@philmason9653 Thanks for replying! Good to have that confirmed, although I can be right up the screen and finish last lol Maybe just not enough up the screen.
1. Battle Garegga 2. Armed Police Batrider 3. 1944: The Loop Master 4. Dimahoo 5. Terra Diver / Soukyugurentai If we count Ibara (since it feels like a Raizing game), then that'd be my #2. Cheers.
Great countdown. Yes, I introduced my cousin to shooters last year with a long play session on the Saturn port of Battle Garegga. Since then, we've been playing Sokyugurentai and Darius Gaiden whenever he visits.
Tough list to narrow down. I love Battle Garegga, and I've only played Batrider a little, but I'd say my favorite of the Raizing titles is Soukyugurentai, it just hits a sweet spot for me.
Yeah, Garegga is the best. I used to be awful at it but I've played enough to beat it on 1 credit and I still go back to it regularly. Batrider is probably the most flashy game of it's kind, I'm still waiting for a modern digital/physical version of it.
I’d love a Batrider release - here’s hoping M2 STG make one. I made a Japanese PSN account mainly so that I could buy the M2 STG ports that weren’t on PSN here. So far I’ve bought every port with every bit of DLC they released, either on PS4 or Xbox Series X, so maybe they’ll come back to Raizing again in a year or two…
Dude! What an Amazing Vid! I was able to finally get all these on my first Original Xbox Mod in 2016 with Coinops 7 Massive! I love then all, but The Mighty DIMAHOO is my Favorite! I can go back to this one everytime and get that same feeling of excitement. There all Special! What a great time for folks who have never had the chance to play all these games! With all the Newer ways to access these games like many versions of Coinops, Raspberry Pi builds, Retropie, Batocera, Emuelec, just Unreal! That opening of the video got me pumped! The music has always been a part of the Magic...
Ok this list is legit. You included Soukyu Gurentai and Armed Police Batrider. Both are super amazing! And they don't kick my ass as much as Garegga lol.
Exact opposite for me. I've got pretty good at Garegga, meanwhile I still feel like a newb when playing Batrider. Soukyugurentai lands in the middle, but somewhere closer to Garegga.
@@wigglesarcade8261 I'm pretty new to most of the Raizing games so I haven't sank in as much time with those as I have Cave and Psykio games. There all pretty damn stellar! That rank system really put me in my place when M2 ported it to PS4. I thought I was pretty good, but holy crap some people are machines in Garegga! But the Raizing library is mostly fun as hell, even games like Kingdom Grand Prix and 1944 Loop Master that didnt make the list. Even Brave Blade has its merits despite not being that great overall.
@@wigglesarcade8261 actually I think 1944 is the best in the 1942 series! 🤣🤣 I have been trying to finally get good at shooters for the past two years or so and jumped into Battle Garegga thinking that was a good starting point. Definitely got smacked down hard. Crawled back to Cave games after that! Looking forward to checking out the mahou daisakusen series too though.
Yeah and the great thing is that all the arrangements (from arcade to orchestral and in-between) that they brought together on the M2 STG port are enjoyable in their own way, making it fun to swap between them on repeated playthroughs, too.
Dimahoo was my number 6. It looks and sounds incredible, it just barely lost out to Battle Bakraid for gameplay reasons. It's still awesome though and I love playing it.
Cave is my favorite developer when it comes to shoot em ups got to finally play Akai Katana Shin Ibara Kuro Black Label Muchi Muchi Pork and Pink Sweets and holy hell wow 😍 when it comes to raizing Dimahoo and Terra Diver are my favorites
Considering that even the weaker shmups made by Raizing are still excellent, it says much about how good a developer they were. I fully agree with Battle Garegga being their best, although my personal favourite from them is Kingdom Grand Prix because I absolutely love both the concept and execution of it. Some of the backgrounds could have been a bit better considering the time it was released and the hardware it was on, but it's hardly an issue, especially when everything else is so good.
11:13 Garegga has maybe the best soundtrack of any shmup ever made? A bold statement if you compare it to games like M.U.S.H.A., Gleylancer, Gates of Thunder, Thunder Force III or IV. Each of these have much more memorable, motivational and straight out fun to listen to compositions imo.
I LOVE every OST from those games you mentioned. If I ever do a Top SHMUP soundtracks some of those games would likely end up in it. But yes, I'd still consider Garegga's soundtrack to be better.
Sadly I have little experience with raizing games. The only one I’m very familiar with is terradiver. Btw you gotta play the pretty ps1 port. It’s really ugly 😂 great video btw!
Soukyuu Gurentai has an easy mode, but does it also have unlimited continues? Or can i up the continues at least?? Cant find anything and sadly i dont speak J to look through the options...
I can't see the long thin bullets on garegga (even in the alleged """high visibility""" version[🤣]) so this game it's worth crap for me but more power to you if you can see 'em 😂. EDIT: Also I heard that arcade throws some high tier BS your way if you are good at it and that you have to manipulate the whole adaptative difficulty stuff. If this is true - no thanks. Great list and taste of course.
Subbed. If I could triple sub, I would. You sound like me blathering on about how great raizing games are. Funny fact. First shump I ever played was A.P. Batrider. Sort of made me disappointed with 90 percent of other shumps
Wtf I need Armed Police Batrider in my life :/ Also for Battle Garegga, im thinking of picking up a copy for my Saturn but apparently the PS4 version is better? That would suck because honestly I would rather play these games on my CRT lol (despite all the extras the ps4 probably offers).
I'd say the PS4 for sure given how much easier it is to play and also M2 did an excellent job porting it. It also has many customizable options the Saturn version doesn't. The Saturn version also has load times between stages, which isn't a big deal, but it's a minor issue that makes the PS4 port better.
@@wigglesarcade8261 Yeah probably should go for the PS4 version. I heard it has an option to make the bullets easier to see. I have some color blindness and it'll be a problem with those standard colors, I can already tell. Well, I guess it's off to Ebay for me to get a physical copy lol. Trying to 1CC Radiant Silvergun in the meantime though!

@@shakesquire84 I'm trying to figure out what to do about this. I read off a script for each video and my cadence is based off reading it out loud. I've been working on trying to make it more organic with how I normally talk. However the reason I write scripts for these videos in the first place is because my speech is normally occupied by ughs, umms, and likes, as well as natural pauses I have while speaking. It seems like enough people really don't like the way I talk to where I'm considering just not doing narrations at all, but I plan on getting a better feel for this later on. For now, I'm trying to work on my cadence, my vocal fry (which I have a little in my normal speech, but it's 5x worse in my videos), as well as drawing out vowels at the end of my sentences. I have very little experience presenting or script reading prior to making youtube videos and its admittedly an area I struggle with. I will continue to work on it and hopefully it shows in my future videos.
I feel like Kingdom Grand Prix never gets its due. It's such a unique game, and even has the potential to bridge the shmup & speedrunning scenes.
It is fun to play but I can never fully understand the racing mechanic and how to go faster.
