  • The Reward is a documentary about Jason Lambeth of Painted Blonde Tapes and how to make DIY cassette tapes. Over the course of creating the four part series, How to Make DIY Cassette Tapes, Jason shot over two hours of b-roll. I decided to interview him more deeply about each part of his process of how to make DIY cassette tapes; this is his story.

    Wow Mike, this video has a very satisfying sense of progression to it, very relaxing, especially with the voice-overs and smooth motion of the hands

    I do make my own music tapes. I get a NOS Type II Maxell XLIIS C-90 and record one vinyl album per side (From the same band) on my Nakamichi deck or my really nice 3 head JVC deck. Then I use my Photoshop template and make the J-Card for it. Sounds incredible, Looks incredible, and preserves the LP from unnecessary scratches from continually playing it.

    Great Video!! Very informative. I do have a question...don't the tapes come with the Tabs intact already? Because Jason was putting tape on the empty tab spaces. Every tape I ever bought always have the tabs in. Just wondering. I know this is a Great question!! Lol. Guess I don't get it about having to put tape where the tabs are suppose to be.

      For some reason, the tapes you get from National Audio Company come with the tabs popped out, to prevent them from being recorded over. Which is kind of a silly reason because you can just put tape over the holes to record on/over them anyway. So when the tabs are out, if you put the tape into a deck, you won't be able to record onto the tape without covering the holes. You could pop out the tabs to a tape you've got and experiment! Thanks for watching, JPC. Glad you dug the video

      424 Recording I think it’s just one of life’s great mysteries. No idea why the tabs are gone.

      I would imagine that NAC normally produces cassette shells without the tabs since they are a high volume manufacturer for pre-recorded or finished cassettes, which would not normally have tabs to begin with.

    Great series. I have a question regarding what type of ink you are using for the stamp. I’ve ordered a set of letter stamps and a custom logo stamp as well for my cassette shells. I’m wondering if there’s a specific type of ink that I need to order, or should the one that came with the stamps be okay. I just don’t want the printing to fade. Anyone who’s tried this, please chime in! Peace… ✌🏾

    After you stamp is the ink sensitive? Does it scratch off easily?

    • @424Recording
      @424Recording  4 роки тому

      I believe it is resilient. Normal use shouldn't make it wear off

    This video is not about tapes, it is about a polygraphy. 'Making tape' should be about magnetic layer deposition.
