Very interesting - I'd been taught a version of that last armlock in Karate classes, but tight in to the body and locking the shoulder rather than the elbow - it always felt like it wasn't much of a lock, if you've got reasonably flexible shoulders it's actually kinda comfortable... Maintaining the body space and attacking the elbow makes much more sense - exactly the same lock as I've practiced on the ground in JuJitsu (I guess maybe I should've made that connection before...). Thanks for yet another fantastic video, you've inspired me back to training my katas (now I just need to find some like-minded training partners to drill the partner work with...).
Thank you for what you do and what you wrote about this video. I was a karate student in master Plee 's academy and i used to practice a karate as an art where anything is allowed. And that is so technical so rich. If you understand the princips of karate, then you can make karate with each and every technic a body can perform. Oss.
