I love Emmy’s subtle digs at the people who make this nonsense up 🤣🤣
“Sticking with the theory that if it looks like coke it’ll taste like coke….lets try soy sauce!!” 🤣🤣🤣
I'm loving her sarcasm with that lmao
And how she goes "terrible!" Then goes in for another sip. I love it.
I love how polite emmy is even when she is being salty!
Queen of shade
I can think of tome other brown things which to (NOT!) add to soda
which also don't taste like Coke there, eh!
See this is why I count on Emmy to try these things because I know she won't lie to me about how something really is vs what tik tok says it is.
Not to mention how others trying out odd recipes tend to overreact for content! Emmy keeps it real and gives proper details on what she tries lol
But isn't this healthy coke thing from tik tok? It registered as such in my head.
I agree. Many people on TikTok are doing things for content.
Agree. She was honest about these banana peels is tasty vegan bacon bs on tiktok too lol
true, i am so used to people trying to tell you rubbish. i feel bad when i think " so now tell me how soysauce tastes like something else than soysauce" but then 1,5 seconds in i remember i am watching emmy and she goes "jep thats soysauce with selzer...." xD
My favorite thing I’ve heard so far about people trying this is;
“Not coke, but it’s good in the way that people say Greek yogurt is good”
While reading your comment, I'm staring down at my blob of Greek yogurt and trying to decide if it would be too unpleasant to just scoop my berries and granola together, skipping the blob entirely. Ugh.
@@clairepettie I like it with Stevia lol
@@clairepettie add honey to your yogurt mixture and thank me later
Love high quality Greek yogurt, whatevs.
I actually looove yoghurt, and Greek yogurt especially. I eat it every morning with nuts, honey and berries and it's my favorite breakfast.
LOL emmy calling BS on this so hard by "trying other substances that make it look like Coke so it must taste like Coke" has me completely satisfied. 😂
I think what we've learned is that people who don't drink Coke don't remember what it tastes like.
Amen to that!
I remember what coke taste like even though its been a few months since i hade one
I used to drink coke and sodas all the time. Took me 10 years to break the habit but I had to for my health. On a hot summer day after a couple of years of not having any, I picked up an ice cold can of coke, popped it open, listened to the fizziness to with a smile, and took a big swig. Tasted like battery acid. I almost couldn't keep it in my mouth long enough to get to the sink. Never had the urge to drink it since.
BUT that may be why people who don't drink it anymore can't remember what it tastes like. When you don't drink it for a long time your tastes change.
@@robertbennett2796 no, not months. Like people who haven’t touched it in years.
^thisssss
I love that this is half testing, half absolutely roasting the original recipe.
Exactly my thought 😄
"Healthy coke" is a replacement/substitute for coke, not a doppelganger, never meant to taste like it, just to curb your craving for it and to have something that doesn't have sugar. My advice is... the caffeinnated bubly, "citrus cherry" tastes SO good with the balsamic vinegar. It reminds me of having a cocktail and is refreshing without being something that slows down my immune system. Aaight?
Also, other good flavors besides cherry with the balsamic vinegar are mango, grapefruit, and peach. Any fruit that you can put spices and salt on it make for a good pairing.
Tik Tok recipes deserve to be roasted 😂
My thoughts exactly 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I really appreciate Emmy's healthy relationship with food. She never goes out of her way to say a food is unhealthy but clarifing that in excess the food can be bad for you thus never inadvertently shaming the people who enjoys the foods. Presenting the food or drink as something neutral, that is OK to like or dislike using our own discretion. It absolutely is something to be admired. This coming from someone who was raised as if food was something to be feared. Thank you Emmy!
So wonderfully stated, yes!
Note to self
Emmy may seem small and sweet
But her subtle savagery is absolutely cutting
AND IM HERE FOR IT
love how Emmy just glosses over "ball sac vinegar" without anymore explanation of how the nickname came to be 😂
Yeah, I didn't miss that either. Had to chuckle.
I was shocked at the comment!! Emmy is so perfectly wholesome and "kindergarten teacher" family friendly! Wife and I had to rewind and listen again. Our household will, from now on have ball sac vinegar in the pantry!!
Balzac
Came here to comment this 😂
I honestly didn’t even question it 😂😂
As someone on a not for weight-loss symptom management medical diet one of my big annoyances when looking for recipes is "Tastes Just Like!" It never tastes just like. Tastes just like is a lie and instead of enjoying something for what it is you're just disappointed it's not as promised.
Agreed. If I can't have a coke, don't give me a healthy knockoff. Give me a drink that was created to work with healthy ingredients.
I've been working to lose weight too with my nutritionist and she helps me find things that I like that are healthy and will help me lose weight rather than things that "taste like whatever" for that reason - always tastes like disappointment. But finding foods I can eat and enjoy without destroying myself helps me not miss foods that aren't good for me.
Absolutely. I have tried some recipes that substitute ingredients and they claim you won't notice difference in taste. But ya do. I've tried dairy-free brownies and minced cauliflower instead of rice. Both yummy but they taste VERY different than the original.
YES. My husband and I do enjoy some of the vegetarian "meat" options out there. It does not, in fact, taste "just like" meat, but as its own food product, it's good.
Same thing with vegan meats. Like just tell the person it’s a pulled jackfruit sandwich and people probably wouldn’t hate the “pulled pork” as much
I learned about this about a year and a half ago from Dr. Steven Gundry's podcast. It's one of his videos for 2017 and he doesn't call it "coke" per se but calls it a healthier alternative to soda. (He's mentioned in another video that it was something that he picked up in Italy a few years previous to his video on this subject.) I'm a hardcore Coke drinker and it's a passable substitute when made with lime-flavored sparkling water as lime is one of the original ingredients. My recommendation is to try this again with a can of chilled lime-flavored Bubbly and use two to three tablespoons of older balsamic vinegar. It's not going to taste exactly like real Coke, but will give you a cola-ish flavor.
There’s actually some probiotic soda brands that have come out recently. I’ve tried poppi recently and though it isn’t exactly that soda flavor I’m looking for, it’s a decent flavored sparkling water. They use apple cider vinegar in their ingredients. The olipop brand has classic flavors like root beer and cola
Yes! I quite like the Olli Pop Root Beer!
I really like poppi! 😊
I thought you wrote problematic lol
I've never felt more connected to Emmy than when she said, "in my house, we call it ballsack vinegar"
I came to the comments to see if anyone else caught that!
Ballsac Vinegar is going into the food lingo rotation. Since I no longer frequent Panera, I have dropped the use of "crapples," to describe the nasty, little, apples you can opt for, as side.
I always call it balls hammock vinegar
Whoever created that has to be from a region that calls all flavors and brands of soda pop "Coke".
That’s my thought too.
I just posted the same thing...before reading comments.

One thing about Emmy is that she has earned our trust. Emmy could tell me anything and I’d agree! Much love to you Emmy and everything your videos have done for me the past few years! ❤️
SERIOUSLY!! I trust her reviews on everything.
This was absolutely hilarious! Thanks so much for all your hard work.
You should try making Coke. We made root beer when I was a kid. One of the glass bottles wasn't sealed right and exploded. We were finding little brown spots in the kitchen for a the next decade.
Yeah that sounds like a great idea
Lol, a similar thing happened late one Christmas Eve to my late husband’s latest batch of homemade jalapeño beer. Spicy, sticky foaminess EVERYWHERE. 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
And yes, of course, our *entire* family was coming to our home the next morning.
I can still picture him, up on the ladder, trying to clean the ceiling. 🤣🤣🤣
I feel like Emmy has made cola before? Or another channel with a calm presenter did it, using the original recipe (minus the cocaine obviously). I wish I could remember it properly.
@@80PercentScottish How To Cook That did it.
When I was a kid, we forgot about a batch of root beer so it was under *extreme* pressure. We lived in the country, so my dad took them all very carefully to the driveway and popped the caps while holding them at about a 45-60 degree angle. The glass bottles were, like, more of a liter? Those things fountained, like, 30'-40' and the apex of those fountain arcs must have been 12'-14'. It was glorious. I think the ants were ecstatic.
I lost it when she pulled out soy sauce 😂 today's video really pushed her patience for these insane tiktok food tricks, emmys not having it anymore 😂
As an Arab fan I really love seeing you trying new recipes each time. I’ve been watching your videos for quite some time and you are really a nice person. God bless you and i will waiting for your next video.
I love watching you!
You are wonderful, and I really enjoy you trying all of these experiments.
i don't know what i was expecting to be honest. i saw many tiktoks trying this and none of them gave me a concrete answer on the drink, thank u for always being my beacon when it comes to these trends ^-^ much love !!
Because all they care about is views. It's a popularity contest...
I saw this earlier this week and I immediately said … “ you have to really miss soda to think that would taste like coke” 💀 when I drink sparkling water I want plain or lime the rest taste like somebody thought about the fruit while making it
"It tastes like a strawberry, but it's low on battery."
it’s almost like drinking carbonated water and someone in the other room is screaming ‘GRAPE’ ‘GRAPE FLAVOR’
It's wearing Strawberry Chapstick while drinking tonic water for me.
The shade! I love it!!!
I used to have an amazing peach drinking vinegar that was designed to be mixed with cava or selzer, it was amazing in the summertime! Way less of the vinegar smell but still super refreshing.
This is why I love watching Emmy's videos on stuff like this because she never dunks on the recipes or anything, always offers thoughtful insight and critique. Compared to people who just dunk on the things people consume which has always baffled me, because everyone's gonna like different things and that doesn't matter!
My grandpa loved a splash of grandma's pickled beet brine in his sweet tea at dinnertime. I would always cringe and pray he wouldn't say, "next time you try it you'll like it; here ya want some?"
LOL! The memories!
Thank you Emmy, for trying gross things so we don't have to!
Did you ever try it? I've read that baking soda makes sweet tea better.
Hrm, I feel like the vinegar would make the tea taste soured. Maybe he would have liked kombucha?

Umm it would be just EASIER using actual cola nuts!
@@DMSProduktions not everybody wants to drink coke though. It's filled with bad ingredients.
I think someone was aiming at Switchel- a traditional drink of vinegar and water, sweetened with molasses & often with ginger. It is pretty good, though nothing like coke. It might taste like generic cola, but not coke.
Interesting. I know drinking vinegars are also a big hit in Thailand. Where is Switchel from?
@@pattyofurniture694 Switchel first appeared in colonial North America. It may originate in England, although it's similar to a Roman drink called posca. Hot, sweaty folks have been refreshing themselves with vinegar-water for a long time.
Switchel is so tasty! It’s quite refreshing
@@pattyofurniture694 It may have originated in the Caribbean, but it was a popular New England summer drink.

Thanks for the honesty
My pleasure!
Loved the humor in this video.
"It smells like a Strawberry Shortcake friend" was a masterful reference and I appreciate it greatly.
Korean Englishman/ jolly made the coke recipe. It was pretty expensive and rather complicated but the yield was for many liters. On another note, ginger beer is really easy to make and tastes fantastic!
You are so entertaining! And it was lovely hearing you on Milk Street yesterday!
Love the fun chaotic energy in this video. This was a fun format.
That last “attempt” when you said “Yeeeah, that’s Coke”, you should send to Coca-Cola so they could use it in a commercial!

I saw this on the Today Show the other day. I wondered if what they actually used was balsamic reduction. Either way, thanks for taking one for the team, so I don't have to try it!
That is what I was thinking, cook it down and it will sweeten it.
I think they used aged balsamic (more sweet less acid more fruity

Thanks for taking one for the team Emmy!! I couldn't help cracking up when you started pulling out the different substances and trying them... I will not be trying soy sauce and seltzer anytime soon... However I found that a little bit of angostura bitters added to lemon lime soda gives a somewhat coke like flavor... I used to do it when my husband wanted lemon lime and I wanted "coke" and we were only getting one 2 liter bottle
I have been drinking diluted balsamic vinegar for years. So yummy! But never with soda water or seltzer. Just a splash of balsamic with water (sometimes sweetener, depends on the mood).

I just had a thought, during thanksgiving I make a syrup reduction using extra stout Guinness, brown sugar, a cinnamon stick and pour that over roasted sweet butternut squash. I wonder if that reduction would make a nice addition to fizzy water?

Ooooh sounds bomb
That’s funny that you say that. H3 said the same thing. They wondered if it was supposed to be balsamic glaze instead of the vinegar
I love this video. Just Emmy goofing off and being funny. And then, ahhh, the satisfaction of drinking a coke. Love it. Perfect.
Thanks, Emmy!
Always love your polite honesty Emmy 😂 I saw so many people say it tasted like coke and all I could think was that sounds false (actually thought other words but we’ll keep it pg lol) I was really interested to know what it actually tasted like but had no desire to try it out myself, so thank you for your service!
We can get raspberry and vinegar cordial in fruit growing areas. Just fruit juice, sugar and vinegar. Great stuff. Lemon juice cordial with Epsom salt. No artificial sweeteners or colour. Balsamic vinegar is great for a topping quality vanilla ice cream. Put lemon in chicken soup. Great stuff.
Hey, could you share the epsom salt and lemon recipe? I use epsom salt and that might be a good idea!
I'll take honey & cinnamon on my vanilla ice cream thank you very much! Creeping me out, vinegar & ice cream.
Balsamic vinegar on vanilla ice cream sounds disgusting... But, it's DELICIOUS. It's also very good on peach ice cream.

I am so glad you did this. Your descriptions are awesome. Have you ever cut Coke with soda water? The best!!
Wow. Have watched shy Emmy's presence grow for what seems like a long time. Missed viewing for a little while, and catching up on some of the more recent vids I've missed has exposed how dramatic some changes can be when there is a gap in exposure. Came back to Emmy rocking Tim the Tool Man vibes with the blender, whilst humorously and totally owning it, then singing "Poopy Snowman Friends" in the outtake, and now "ball sack vinegar" flat out in the early opening of a "let's low key wreck this trend right now" vid.
I am dead. Emmy slayed me.
Emmy, have you ever tried to make the drink "Tuba", it's made from fermented coconut water/juice with some various spices.
I think my problem with this little experiment is that I detest la croix and seltzer in general. It’s very salty to my taste buds. I don’t really drink soda anymore but I feel this vinegar concoction would be to sour and salty for me. But I appreciate Emmy taking one for the team!

I grew up in Roswell and went to Georgia Tech (across the street from Coca-Cola HQ), and lived in midtown Atlanta my entire adult life until this past February. I recently moved to Columbus, OH, which is home to the largest Pepsi distributor in the US. I am *dying* here in that sense... it's so hard to find a restaurant that has food that I like that also serves Coke as opposed to Pepsi.

So, as a sparkling mineral water snob. My father got me hooked on Perrier as a kid at his favorite burger place. La Croix is not really a good *flavored* sparkling water. Everytime I have tried their flavored water it does not mix well and tastes chemically. Same for Aha, Bubly, and HEB brand.
The only flavored sparkling water that I prefer with little to no chemical flavor is Perrier ( grapefruit is my favorite ) and San Pellegrino ( Aranciata ). Be careful with the San Pellegrino flavors as some can be pretty strong like the Aranciata Rosa or blood orange. But most of the flavors are pretty tasty.
So if you try this recipe by Emmy I would use Perrier or San Pellegrino. They will probably mix better.
I forget the brand I used to like, I think it was ~~Arowhead~~ (tall pale translucent blue bottle; I forget if the neck was tapered or a cylinder). I don't remember it being artificial tasting, but, the last time I had it was long ago.
