Almost done with a resourceful bootcamp i attended and we did a good number of labs on some of the popular tools in cybersecurity. I wanted to put all these into a portofolio and here i am.....great video, thank you Sir🙏🙌
nice and simple! also i would recommend adding a " mouse highlighter " like when you said " click on the pencil " it would of been nice to have your mouse highlighted so we can follow it and see exactly where its at right away. just a nice little tip you might want to add to your videos (: ty for all of your help!
Perfect timing! I've just finishing building my Website and I wanted to know how to build my portolio on Github so I could had that to my Website. Thanks man
Great info. I need to create a profile and set up a lab....I will be following you and watching your videos as they are information and easy to understand an follow. Mahalo for all of your help.
In the tools tab, is it possible to place a XDR option below the endpoint in a new category? Or would everything be inside the endpoint? and even put more topics like tools for incident management are recomended?
Thank you Steven. Your videos have always been helpful to me. 💯💯💯💯💯 Can I use the labs I have done on Letsdefend, Cyberdefenders, and AttackIQ as Projects ? or does it have to be something I built on my SOC home lab?
Great question! I wouldn’t use the labs done as projects. If you really want to, you can have a section for “writeups” and put the labs you have completed on there. If you decide to do that, take a look at the rules for those sites before publishing your writeup/walkthrough.
So simple and useful. One question. What if we don't want to show the screenshots but the code instead for them to realistically preview and assess our portfolio? Do you have a walkthrough to that?
thanks man I really appreciate it I just wanted to ask if we can also link beginner guided projects to our portfolio from coursera aswell you know for landing an internship role as I am still a university student
Well i can just do the same on linkdin only why use GitHub... btw your teach skills are awesome just nice little Tip: for you to be perfect, whenever you give a project video do tell people how to add that project in my cv portfolio or linkdin anywhere like what description should be and what screenshots to take, as it becomes very hard to figure out
nice video , what if I want the link to go directly to the place it shows my actual certificate instead of going to the shields link meanwhile retaining the shields logo
Great question, those would be considered labs IMO to build your hands on skills. Projects would be to “showoff” your hands on skills if that makes sense haha
You would likely have to build it out yourself in a home lab. I have some videos on how to do that if you get stuck and some project videos as well for inspiration.
It has a lot of benefits - It shows potential employers that you can do the work/passionate about the field. It shows initiative. It also allows you to practice documentation which is a crucial skill to have.
Thanks! Buy yourself a coffee. Your videos have been amazing to help display and showcase my knowledge learned from your channel!
What?!?! Thank you SO much ❤️ i really do appreciate it.
You are a kind hearted person ❤️. This is a good way to give a compliment for worthy stuff.
This is perfect timing. I was literally just about to look up the best way to put projects on GitHub. Thank you again for a great walkthrough.

I would put everything under endpoint just to try and make it “neater” and yes you can put in incident management if you want
Thank you Steven. Your videos have always been helpful to me. 💯💯💯💯💯

Unfortunately i do not, sorry!

Absolutely 👍

Love the tip! You can absolutely do the same on linkedin. I encourage folks to use whichever method works best.
Thank you for doing this
Thanks for watching!
Thank you so much !
You’re most welcome! Thank you for watching 🙌
nice video , what if I want the link to go directly to the place it shows my actual certificate instead of going to the shields link meanwhile retaining the shields logo
In this case, what you need is html tags like the one used for linkedin url
What if I have a hub already that I used for web development?
Can either create a separate one dedicated to cybersecurity or add to the existing.
Thank you, Sir.
You are very welcome
❤ this is great
Thanks for watching ❤️
Thank you Steve...
Thank you!
The work am doing on try hack be consider projects?
Great question, those would be considered labs IMO to build your hands on skills. Projects would be to “showoff” your hands on skills if that makes sense haha
Thank you. I think that’s where am confused. Is there an app that I can do projects? Or is that something I have to use critical thinking
You would likely have to build it out yourself in a home lab. I have some videos on how to do that if you get stuck and some project videos as well for inspiration.
is "associated project" and "project" different??
Depends on the context and how it was written but I would say always use project.
can creating a vpn network be used as my first project ?
Yes absolutely! That is in fact, a great project to have.
i was contemplating a github portfolio versus a blog. Eh why not do both
Thats the spirit 👍 at the end of the day, it doesn’t matter. Just gotta do it!
thank you!
Thanks lad
Hey, can anyone tell me why is it important to make your portfolio?? Bcz I literally don't find any logic in it.
It has a lot of benefits - It shows potential employers that you can do the work/passionate about the field. It shows initiative. It also allows you to practice documentation which is a crucial skill to have.
@@MyDFIR ohk... This was something new that I got to know 🙂🤞🏻🙏🏻
@@tukaram4606 It is absolutely important for beginners without experience. It is a proof of solid hands-on. thank you Sir Stephen

Nice to see Github allows you to put your "pronouns" on your portfolio. I was worried🤣
