WINCHESTER 🇬🇧 | Medieval Anglo-Saxon Capital | 4K Drone Footage

Winchester is a cathedral city located in the county of Hampshire. After the collapse of the Roman Empire, England fell into decline. Winchester, however, seemed to have stayed relevant throughout the dark ages according to Welsh accounts. By the mid 7th century, the city served as the seat of Anglo-Saxon rulers for centuries before the invasion of the Normans under William the Conqueror.
Winchester cathedral on the other hand was completed under the rule of the Normans in 1079. It is a gothic cathedral with a wide and long nave. The cathedral took just under 500 years to reach the completed form you see in this video, its different roof colourations and materials used for construction shows its many architects over the years
