Looks good I've been doing this around my place the last two years , did the foundation, around my shed , just did a 8 ×10 paver patio with a fire pit and edged that too. One think i did discovere thought is periodically you gotta reset the no dig edging spikes they will start to come up , no big deal just gotta stay on top of them.
Nice 👍🏼 Me and my husband will be doing this tomorrow soon as rocks are delivered- these looks like the rocks we ordered, nice color combo. were replacing barks… tired of them 😉
It looks like to me that is plastic sheeting non permeable to water. Landscape fabric is not shiny like that. Plus if you look real close they’ve stapled up a little onto the fence. To me it looks like they are creating a drain for water to flow down towards the camera. Which is probably why he’s spraying it after to see if the fall under the rocks works My advice after 50 years of this stuff is that you really don’t want anything up against the fence. Rocks or tarp. I realize you are trying to catch the water off the fence but it will create more problems than it solves.
Please tell me How to stop crazy thistles and other invasive weeds coming out and under the fence from fire escape area and from my carefree neighbours’ lawns . I am an old lady and I am tired of pulling these weeds 😢
Just out of curiosity, how’s the wood at the bottom of that fence? I noticed you didn’t put any type of drain so does the water pool and eat the wood up? I’m planning on doing the same thing but was going to leave some space between the wood and the rocks. Then do a small French drain to keep the water away from the wood.
Don’t put landscaping fabric under the rocks because it keeps the water there and it will indeed rot the fence. If you don’t put the fabric, the water will drain through the ground. Landscaping fabric doesn’t even stop weeds anyway. So just apply weed killer once in a while.
@@jenshaw8085uhhh, bad advice. Nonwoven geotextile landscaping fabric does most certainly allow water to drain through it. And if installed properly should stop most weeds from growing through.
We did this last year around our foundation. Really helps with not having the rain splash mud all over which cuts back on the moss and mold from growing. Definitely worth the effort for some added curb appeal. We actually painted out foundation too. Looks like a brand new house.
Those are heavy enough not to move. And if a storm does come through that's strong enough to move them, your last concern would be those rocks because your house will be off the foundation...
You can do that as long as it’s not going to be high enough to touch your siding if you have siding. You don’t want your soil/landscaping above the foundation. Ideally you would remove the mulch but if you don’t, you should spray it first with a weed killer. Once you cover the mulch and soil it’ll be like a greenhouse under there.
I am looking to do something like this for my mom's place. What type of landscape fabric was used? And may I ask why you were spraying the rocks with a hose afterward?
Probably just water :) Sometimes the gravel for river rocks come "dirty" with a lot of sand aos them, so rinsing the rocks after laying them down helps to not only clean them but also to bring out their colors :)
Doesn't make so much sense at the fence. This gravel on weed fabric style is an antipattern in the long term: the gravel gets dirty and weeds germinate above, root in the fabric. After a few years, it will be incredible hard to remove, probably leave rags in the soil. If plants are in the gravel, removing the fabric will damage the roots. Better plant something there without weed fabric, including dense ground cover. Organic mulch can be used the first years.

As someone who had this in a house we bought......it's extremely hard to plant after adding this
What is this for? Is it decorative or to solve a problem? Rotting fence posts for example
My husband and I…. 😊

I second this.
What do you guys suggest instead, gravel boards?@@RickyB418

NICE! It seems easy enough to do and does break a back or two.

Colorful river rocks would look awesome. Thanks for saying water! 😊
Question. We have white rocks everywhere! We have the fabric everywhere too but weeds grow like crazy! Should we replace the fabric with another type?
I put mesh under mine and staked them down and it work perfectly. Weeds haven’t grown through it.
I have an old trampoline mat that I might cut up and use as the mesh
What a nice finishing touch. Been thinking about doing this around the foundation of the house.

I want to do this around the foundation of my home as well!
Looks great 👍👍
Beautiful 🤩
So nice!! I was just talking about this style offline when I saw this spooky 😊
Great!!! For a driveway, should I put holes in the fabric before laying the gravel on it?
I have so much stone left from a pond build. This is a great idea
Looks good and neat goodbye ugly weeds!
Hello did you dig before placing black plastic ?
Level the grown real good. Dig out your edging. Then use pins to keep in my place
Perty!
what are you spraying it with at the end? just water?
Wondering the same thing
I keep seeing people laying down that black fabric on the ground before putting rocks or gravel on top. What is the point of it?
If I may ask, why did you wet the rocks?
They come dusty and dirty after they are rinsed off it shows more of the stones colors
What prevents the rock from going under the fence into your neighbors property?
Which type of material do we use
👍😎
Wouldn’t the rock trap moisture by the boards and start to mold?
Water goes through rock extremly better than grass against the fence. They use rocks in drainage systems. It will go straight through the rocks.
Great idea!
Why are we spraying it? Does water go through that fabrick? Would this be a good way to keep rabbits from going under a fence?
He sprayed it to get the rocks all cleaned. Look at it before and after
Also helps it settle
How much rock was purchased? 1 Cubic Yard? Thanks!
Was it 1 cubic yard or more?
Length × width. Then take that and multiply by 2 or 3 inches tall, which ever you prefer
Great Idea 🎉🎉🎉
What’s the black plastic that’s holding rock In place called? I need something just like it but can’t find it.. what is that? Please
Geo cell ground grid
@@amritsingh-zw6fz
Geo cell ground grid is NOT being used here. That's turf fabric and common edging.
Landscape fabric.
No dig edging
What are you using to spray it? Is it just water
they trying to grow more rocks

I’m sorry, but the comments on here are 🤯
This maybe a dumb question but how do you get the rocks to stay after say a stroms do you just refill

They make a clear spray that actually glues the rocks together. Coal companies spray it over rail cars to not lose dust in transit.
Nicely done.
Can someone explain to be why he the black thing at the bottom and then rocks? What happens if you skip on the black thing and just put rocks?
Weeds!!!!!
Can i put my woven cover on top of existing mulch on my ground, then the rocks on top? Or should i remove all the mulch? Mulch is about 2 yeard old

@@RickyB418 oh yeah, its going to be well below the siding
That plastic edging will give out, bad idea
Why did you wet them?
Should you put any holes in the barrier
Well seeing as how you used paver edging I can tell it’s your first time
What size edging?
Where did you buy the boarder and what type was it?
Looks like interlock edging, for pavers usually.
I am looking to do something like this for my mom's place. What type of landscape fabric was used? And may I ask why you were spraying the rocks with a hose afterward?
Get the best landscape fabric they have it’s either 25 or 35 bucks. They sprayed it to get rid of the dust and make it look better. Hope this helps.
Забор скоро сгниёт от влаги😢
Is that plastic bags
what is reason for rock near fence? Any utility?
Weeds, easier to weedwhack and keeps dirt and water from rotting the bottom of the fence. Also it looks good
Why would you put plastic under the rocks? When it rains, water is going to pool up and rot the fence.
❤ it
Why did he spray the rocks?
I remember my first beer....
How big is this rock

What is the boarder used to hold the rocks back? Is it ok for the lawn edging machine to cut along the lawn side ?
Do you water them to help them grow?
It's too keep them comfortable in the heat.
