Bjorn stuff is premium, i have their seatpost and saddle. Quality and looks are Stunning, the only complain a have about the saddle is how grippy it is, once in place you can't slide
Problem with those seat size measuring tools is that they’re only measuring the width of you sit bones. Roll your hips forward, into a more aggressive position [ those measuring devices measure a ride seated upright] and it doesn’t take into consideration the more forward part of your sit bones that roll onto the mid nose of your saddle
Interesting. I always thought that measuring sit bones was a flawed method of determining how wide a saddle should be. I think there’s more to saddle width than sit bone width.
But why would you need a more aggressive seating position? It’s not as if you’re a TDF rider who needs to ride in the drops. For most of us non-TDF riders, it makes more sense to just stay upright and ride and chill for our rides.
@87togabito Personally my position is nowhere near the aggressive position of a professional rider, but I do distribute my weight over my sitbones and well the continuation of the sitbones towards the front.
Looks very similar in shape and dimensions to the Specialized Romin - I am not a Spec guy at all, but that’s the best saddle I’ve ever sat on. Nice long nose to perch on when riding slammed and a good cutout for when you’re more upright. Love it.
I've ridden the SWorks Romin for ages, to the point where I bought a couple extra since they pulled them off the market. I tried the Mirror version and as you said, I didn't like the mesh bit in the middle. I didn't think I would notice it, but maybe because the padding is softer on the 3D material, causing me to sink more, I was definitely feeling the webbing in the middle. I'll probably give these Bjorn a shot, when I break my last Romin. One issue I've had with the old school Romin is the carbon shell breaks where the carbon rails meet the shell after a couple years. They probably weren't designed to handle my large derriere.
I've been in this rabbit hole for a least a year. FINALY settled on a SELLE Italia SLR Boost Superflow in a size 130. Other saddles were too wide for me. Causing me to sit tilted causing right hip pain. 2 weeks on this saddle and the hip pain is gone. Power feels it's being spat out evenly on each leg, etc. My sit bones measure out at 115mm. Bike shops put me on a 145. No good.
I’ve got the same saddle. It’s great! The issues I had with other saddles were that some were too soft, cutting off blood flow. Some were too wide in the middle, cutting off flow at the inner thigh. Some are too slick, so I would slide forward. Then there is the angle. Tilt it forward and it’s hard to stay in position. Tilt it back and it’s uncomfortable on the sensitive parts. The Selle Italia SLR Boost has been the best at solving all these issues. Plus it’s light! That said, the cutout could be bigger. Sometimes, I think that the best saddle would be just two “cups” for the sit bones. This new, 3D saddle looks like it could work well for me in a narrower width. It seems to be even narrower at the thighs than the Selle Italia with an even more aggressive cutout. I like it!
@@JonFairhurst I never thought the SLR Boost would work for me due to the shape. It's a bit weird. Seems arrow shaped when looking at it from above. My sit bones slot right into it. Very bizarre, but so far, so good.
@@diehardbikes It's very weird that I do not fall onto a 145 saddle. But I'm telling you, this 130mm selle italia SLR boost just flat out fits VERY well. The cut out is also amazing.
Thanks, what a great saddle. I've been searching this kind of "hard" saddle forever. I have the Brooks Cambium c17 carved and that's the only one which works for me because it's rock hard to sit on.
the cheaper plastic saddles, once they get worked in really do fit better. Especially in warm weather, they just seem to sag more and be more comfortable. The carbon framed ones not so much unless you go with a really thin one
It depends how heavy you are and how big your contact patch is. For a heavy person with a large surface area contacting the saddle, a carbon shell is actually better because it deflects less and maintains its shape better to support the sit bones. A soft saddle can flex too much and press the saddle rail mounts into the soft tissue. If you like the 'hammock' style feeling, checkout Brooks saddles.
Not just what each person likes or what works for each person, you can get “used” to a saddle which may or may not be the best saddle for you. Same applies to a bike not perfectly fitted to a person, you can just get used to it.
I was lucky and brought a Fabric saddle, which was comfy but weighty. I then brought a Stella italia boost SLR thing, highly rated, but not for me. Cheap Chinese next which was light and okay weight wise, but I then picked up a cheap carbon, light and very comfy from aliexpress £24 boom!
Slightly offtopic: What bike is that at around 0:50 when you pan up towards the saddles, the one pretty close to the camera that looks to be made out of titanium and is equipped with the 6(?) spoke wheels?
I've been really curious about Bjorn. Would love to try it some day. I have a Berk Lupina Short right now, which I suppose falls in the same territory, and to date, the Berk is the best saddle I've ever tried.

Is that your Ti bike? What kind of frame is that? One of the biggest issues I face is that I creep forward...I currently use a Berk Lupina which is very similar in size/shape. You mentioned that you don't creep forward on the Bjorn...I may give this a go. Can I purchase through your shop?
Have you had any experience with the fizik models? I currently have a few of their Vento Argo models, and thinking about going their 3D print version for my new gravel ride, maybe my road bike.
@@GCPerformance18 I have wide sit bones (my wife says I just have a big a$$) and that's what made me gravitate towards them, that and the short nose. @@GCPerformance18 Thanks, I think you said the saddle was 155 mm in the video? I guess it's quite personal info that you might not feel comfortable saying here. I have a wide pelvis myself, but I can't get a good measure using the corrugated cardboard method, just varying from ~125mm to over 140mm. The Giant saddle that came with my bike is just awful for me, and so far I've tried a Brooks C17 with cutout, and an SMP TRK. Neither is great for different reasons. I am the same way I rode the romin evo saddle before going to the bjorn and now I find myself really enjoying the bigger opening, the seat really provides support where you need it and also gives me the opening for blood flow when going into a more aggressive position. if your looking for a new saddle, I am still right now reiding this saddle on the tarmac sl8
@@GCPerformance18 a cutout in the saddle is a hole, and the hole supports nothing. It means an increased pressure on your other parts, because p = weight/area.
