    I purchased the Insty Connect. I am running an ATT data plan with the SIM card attached to the Insty router IMEI number. It works great, but somehow it randomly drops or disconnects from the internet. I remove the power from the router and once it reboots it works fine until the next time. I have installed the connectivity patch. I have been talking with Nick, but so far this problem has not been solved. Any help would be appreciated.

    Great video, I'm waiting for MOFI to come out with their CAT20 unit and see how they compare with each other. People buying their units now with current technology will be behind months from now. You heard Nick say the CAT20 will lock into 7 different bands, I'm waiting 😆

      Yes, MoFi is close to releasing the new versions. They are supposed to be sending me one for testing. Also, the Insty Connect 5G is a CAT20 and if you order Nick will send you the 4G and replace it with the 5G once it's released.

      @ J V . This product is targeting mobile users. Unless you live less than a mile from a major city that has a 5g tower , I don't see any reason to upgrade to 5G technology for at least two years, probably much longer. This system is the sweet spot Cat 12 modem that can lock on three bands.
      You can buy a Cat 18 for double the price that is capable of locking onto 5 bands , however it seems most cell towers have 2-4 bands and the ones that do have 5 or more are usually going to have a few bands with heavy saturation , so this unit using 3 bands makes really good sense. The current Mofi units are farther behind with CAt 4 (Single Band) and Cat 6 (2 bands).

    • @SeleTraining
      @SeleTraining  3 роки тому

      @@jasavak It's true that full 5G is going to take some time and is limited to a shorter distance. The carriers are definitely going to make it available in large cities first. The 5G Insty Connect does provide 4G and can aggregate 7 bands so that is one benefit. MoFi has a the new 5500 model coming out soon as well.

      @@SeleTraining Many people seem to agree that the high frequency of 38Ghz will not travel nearly as well as the 1ghz of the 4G lte. I will probably not think of the upgrade for at least two years . Maybe longer if we mostly stay far away from the 5g towers.

    I need a directional roof solution where I live and I'll have to hold off until that directional antenna system mentioned is offered. Plus, I need a better phone signal inside my home as well. Are there any add-ons with the Insty that can help with this?

    • @SeleTraining

      You could get the 4G12 anytime and swap the Angel Wing antenna for the Binocular version when it is available. The Insty Connect won't enhance the cell signal but it does provide Internet from the cell signal and you can enable WiFi data calling on your phone to use it. I do that frequently. That just allows your phone to use the Wifi connection to place and receive calls. Otherwise you would need a cell repeater solution.

    My question is about gaming devices specifically a Nintendo switch. I ordered a mofi4500 based on your older videos but did not realize you recommended the Insty until after I set up the mofi4500. The mofi4500 will not work with some online games like Mario kart because I can't connect to other people. It says on reddit att internet doesn't allow you to change your Nat type from D to A or B but either way I do not know what the best solution to this problem is. I have also seen on reddit some solutions include using a VPN. In the Q&A it was mentioned the Insty router can be purchased with a VPN plan but I do not understand how Nat types work and if getting a different router with a vpn will change it so it is more open and will allow me to connect to other people on the nintendo switch or other gaming networks. On the switch I saw Nat type A-D and in other devices it shows up as NAT type 1-3. Either way I don't fully understand how to change it with either the mofi4500 or if purchasing the Insty would resolve this issue or make no difference.

    • @SeleTraining
      @SeleTraining  2 роки тому

      I’m not in front of my MoFi at the moment but I know that you’ll need to set the MoFi to Open NAT. That drops the strict setting so that it allows communication to other systems for gaming. Not sure of the specific MoFi setting but perhaps another gamer can jump in and explain.

      @@SeleTraining Thank you for the response, I also emailed the same questions to Nick's company because after watching this video it seems like this is a much better router in general I just didn't see this video until after I already purchased the mofi. I believe I would be better off returning the mofi 4500 and purchasing his router. I ordered the mofi through Amazon before Christmas for my parents and I still have a couple weeks to return it. However I still am not sure if a new or different router will change the Nat type or if it can be changed. If you can't answer I understand maybe someone else will see this and help. I am unsure if this is a router setting or if AT&T itself has restrictions on its network making it difficult to change it. If anyone knows a solution I would really appreciate the information.

    • @SeleTraining
      @SeleTraining  2 роки тому

      Since you are a T-Mobile customer it's best to add a line to your account. Just add a regular phone line or an iPad line, whichever is cheapest. Mine is $20/mo. That can be done with a free phone or they may be willing to give you the SIM card. Once you confirm the line works in your phone and is activated just plug that SIM into the Insty Connect and set it up as T-Mobile for the carrier. Make sure to go to the advanced tab on the SIM profile and set the TTL Value to Linux-2 65 to avoid any throttling.

    How many antenna ports does this have? I'm asking because I'm wondering if I can get a splitter for the angel wings and hook into one port and use another antenna for the other port. If it has 2 spots to hook antennas to

    • @SeleTraining
      @SeleTraining  3 роки тому

      It has only one connection for the antenna. The Angel Wing works a little different. The modem is installed inside the antenna and uses a USB connection to the router. This is different than most coax cable connections and prevents signal loss. The modem has two connections. One for each side of the Angel Wing. The main benefit of the Insty Connect is the design of the antenna. You can add the Binocular antennas if you want to improve the line of sight to a tower but any other antenna will not help and most likely will interfere with the design.
