    Nice video you should have quickly gone over some of the commonly used light modifiers and how these lights differ to a speedlite such as the light spread and colour temperatures.

    For the Test button part, do I have to press the test button on the strobe or the test button on the trigger will do the same job? Thanks

    Thanks for the video. I have a few questions as I'm still a little confused as I'm just starting to explore strobe lighting.
    1) When I hear the word "strobe", I usually think of a light that produces a continuous burst of flashes that goes off or blinks intermittently, like you might get a strobe light in a disco. Is that not what this type of strobe light for photography does? Or is it just basically an extra large and more powerful flash that can be controlled via a remote trigger in the same way as a speedlight and only flashes when you tell it to flash? So it doesn't blink on and off intermittently? Can you clarify for me?
    2) Why is the monolight called a monolight? What makes it different from other types of strobes?
    3) Can you get strobe lights that have the option to be both battery powered and mains powered so that you could use it in the studio or use it also on location without any mains source?
    Thanks.

    • @BandH
      @BandH  3 роки тому +2

      Thank you for your questions. In regards to your first question, a strobe is a larger flash unit than can be synchronized with your camera using either a radio trigger or a sync cable going to a camera that has a sync terminal. When connected with either of those methods, the strobe will fire when you press the shutter button down completely. Some strobes have TTL functions like a speedlight would give you while the vast majority operate with manual control of the light output. Strobes also measures in watt/sec or joules which is the amount of stored energy that it can store and release. Secondly, monolights are self-contained strobes, which differentiate themselves from strobes which use a separate flash head and separate power pack. Monolights have the flash and power pack in one unit, so it would be plugged in directly to a wall outlet or in some cases, you can run them off of batteries. Lastly, there are monolights/pack & head units which offer AC and battery power. In terms of the monolight options with AC and battery power, one good example is the Godox AD600Pro Witstro All-In-One Outdoor Flash
      . BH # GOAD600PRO which includes the battery and offers the Godox AC Adapter for AD600Pro Witstro Outdoor Flash
      , BH # GOAC26 separately. For the pack and head option, Godox also has their AD1200Pro Battery Powered Flash System, BH # GOAD1200PRO and its Godox AC Adapter for AD1200Pro Battery Powered Flash System
      , BH # GOAC1200. Now if these units are not within your budget, we invite you to contact us directly via Live Chat on the B&H Website until 8PM ET or call us at 1-800-606-6969 until 7PM ET so we can go over some other options with you.

      The Profoto strobes featured in this video can be utilized with a beauty dish and they would produce a daylight balanced color temperature.

    Ive just bought a neewer c180, it has the fuse missing, but it was affordable for me, what type of fuse will I need? Do modelling bulb cause fire

    • @BandH
      @BandH  3 роки тому

      Unfortunately, we do not currently carry this Neewer product. You should be able to obtain the replacement fuse from them directly. You may contact them here: bit.ly/37zBzDT
      As for the modeling lamp, it is important to install it with a barrier over your hand to prevent any premature failure and to make sure that there are no obstructions in front it that can potentially cause a fire.

    Could you kindly share brand and model of the Radio Control Unit for Canon 200D II (centre pin not available) for using multiple studio strobe lights

    • @BandH
      @BandH  2 роки тому +1

      Currently, the Canon DSLRs without a center firing pin on the hotshoe such as a 200D II could only work with the Canon ST-E3-RT II, BH # CASTE3RTV2, This transmitter fires any Canon speedlite with the RT designation.

      Use the Profoto Air Remote TTL-F for Fujifilm
      BH #PRARTTLF : bhpho.to/2AogAWw
      Maximize the potential of your AirTTL-equipped flashes through the use of an Air Remote TTL-F from Profoto. This powerful remote provides you with an outstanding set of features, including support for wireless power control and TTL, including high-speed sync, with Fujifilm cameras. Operating on a 2.4 GHz frequency, the Air Remote can sync with flashes up to 1000' away with normal triggering and 330' with TTL. TTL is useful because it offers automated shooting and exposure and brings the advantage of high-speed sync, enabling the use of shutter speeds up to 1/8000 second. Also, the controller has 8 channels and 3 groups, ensuring minimal interference with other nearby systems and equipment. Each group can be controlled independently from one another, permitting ±2 EV adjustment of power ratios for TTL systems and nine stops of manual control. You have access to remotely turn on/off the modeling lights or heads, making it easier to adjust lights in your studio. Additionally, there is a mini-USB port for installing firmware updates and it runs on just two AAA batteries.

    I don't understand. Does modeling light just switch off during exposure and be replaced by the flash function, or those are separate functions?

    • @BandH
      @BandH  2 роки тому

      Generally, the modeling lamp and the flash are two separate functions. If you had the modeling lamp turned on steadily, that can dim once you fire your strobe then turn back on after the shot has been taken. There are also instances where the flash and modeling lamp can be set proportional, where adjusting the flash output would also adjust the output of the modeling lamp.

    What kind of bulbs are in strobes or flashguns?

    • @BandH
      @BandH  2 роки тому +1

      Flashtubes, speedlights, strobes, or flashguns typically consist of transparent glass or quartz tubes filled with xenon (or, occasionally, other noble gases) and fitted with electrodes. >Mark

    Do strobe lights make your picture look more cinematic

    • @BandH
      @BandH  4 роки тому +2

      Strobes definitely offer a different look as compared to continuous light when shooting stills, due to the ability to add many different light modifiers to them more easily. However, a cinematic look is more relevant to video where continuous lights would need to be used.

    Why can't you just use a continuous light, from a source like 300?

    • @BandH
      @BandH  3 роки тому +1

      While continuous lighting sources can be useful in some instances, they are not as useful when you need to stop action in a still image, due to the lack of light output needed for that.

    I received the AD400pro 3 months ago. The inside fan started running all the time last week and never stopped after turn the unit off for hours. Called B&H Customer service next day and told me to send it back. B&H sent me a return shipping label that took 5 days to get it back to B&H. I guess this is not very important for B&H customer service. Now B&H customer service is telling me that the estimated turn-around time for repairs are 4-6 Weeks. So basically, I invested $650 on this unit at B&H and B&H customer service is “sorry” that I can’t work and use my brand new AD400pro for 2 months. Seriously? B&H really needs to learn from other retail stores about customer service. Very very disappointed

    • @BandH
      @BandH  4 роки тому

      Thank you for your order and this feedback. We regret your dissatisfaction. We do not offer rush return shipping service. If you want that, you must pay for it. We do offer pre-paid return shipping, but it is not rush. Once we receive and evaluate the return we will send it to a repair service and they will fix it as efficiently as they can. Under normal circumstances the estimated turnaround time is approximately equal to what you’d receive if you’d sent the computer to the manufacturer’s authorized service facility directly. We regret this item is not working perfectly and regret that repairs, plus round-trip shipping, take time.

    • @anghelov
      @anghelov 4 роки тому

      @@BandH Now the repair is 8 weeks, and as today there is no update as of yet, as it has not been repaired yet. So basically, I wasted my money buying this strobe 3 months ago because who know when I will get this useless strobe back
