Great video mate, can you tell any difference between the old door and the new one when it comes to insulation and the wind coming through? We’ve got an up and over door and currently, when it’s windy, all the wind blows through from all the side gaps. Wondering whether a door like this one on your video will sort this issue as it gets proper cold during the winter inside the garage and then eventually the air transfers into the house too.
I don't work in my garage so not sure but this is a much better seal all around than the old up and over door as that had gaps all around and at the top. This sits flush in the train tracks so hardly any wind comes through it.
It was an advert in our local magazine, I just went with that, bloke came round for a chat and he was really nice and explained it all so went with them. It’s so much better than my old door
Great review fella, I’ve got them fitting a standard electric roller door in about 3 weeks, is it decent chap? Seems a reasonable price for an electric one, they are wanting to sell me the sensor which stops the door if it senses an object,,, is it worth it in your opinion? Thanks
Been really pleased with ours as now have so much more space in the garage and I can park my Van up close but still open the garage door, couldn’t do that with an up and over. Mine will auto stop if it senses it hits something I don’t remember paying extra for that feature. I’d have it though incase a child was under it as it came down, you just never know.
@@LurgsHowToGuides no that makes total sense to have it, was just wondering if it was an added extra etc, appreciate your feedback on it. Am in a situation this morning where my car is backed right up close to the garage door and I’m having to tentatively open it (just incase it hits the boot) roll on 3 weeks Cheers…
Not sure how it would auto stop with no safety sensor fitted (no safety edge or photocell on the door shown). It wouldn't need the "hold to run/deadman" function to be used when closing, only a single press (impulse) would be required. Nice commentary and good video though.
Is there no option for a one press solution to close it ? That would put me off getting one if you have to stand there and hold the button down to close it.Surely there is a cutoff you can adjust for max open and close ?
No it's a safety feature, if you pressed it once and it closed, then if something or someone got trapped underneath it they could get hurt. It doesn't take very long to close. Maybe different manufacturers have different systems.
I guess you could secure it from the inside by maybe locking it into the ground with a padlock and bolt. Nothing is totally secure but the slats are strong. I always park up close to it as extra security anyway
Looks good. Can I ask what your height measurement was from floor to lintel? We would have to mount our top box like you have, under the lintel, but was a little worried we’d lose too much height in the opening and then be ducking every time I walked through!
Just measured it, it’s 220cm from underside of lintel to the ground. The unit which it rolls up into is about 23cm high so the bottom of that is about 197cm from the ground
Just the basic one so assume Titan. It’s been brilliant, really pleased with it. So much more space in the garage roof. I also put down a garage floor rubber strip to stop water and I’ll be making a video on that soon.
@@ashleyf1817 Total cost was £1,029 that included removing old metal door and rotten frame and complete installation of new door and rubber seal. Been very pleased with it, especially the extra room
you really do not know what you are talking about, the doors are terrible - not CE marked - the hold to run feature isnt a safety feature at all, learn your stuff
@@shonunezekiel SWS UK are one of the best roller doors on the market, especially the original version, its secured by design and offers good security - the Hormann RT08 rollmatic is a very good door also, but the outboard motor can sometimes be an issue along with the long lead times.

Many of them are insulated. I’m trying to find and choose a company to fit one at the moment
How did you choose the brand ? Company

Do you have to hold the close button if you use the internal control panel to close the door?
Yes you have to hold it whilst it closes, as soon as you let go it will stop
