Awesome video! Shocked to see so much underfill covering the pads when top chip was lifted out. Looks like the underfill is the cuprit for the infamous bootloop issue.
Thank you for your very informative video, but I don't think a task this complicated should be performed by a lay person. Obviously you're skilled & knows exactly what you're doing, anyone encountering this problem should send their device to you for proper repairs.
You are probably correct, but there are many qualified techs that watch our channel as well. End Users though should definitely send their phone to us for repair and the link is in the description.
Great stuff! For desoldering, you set the hot air station to 430 °C @ 40% air flow, but to what temperature and air flow did you set the hot air station when you were soldering on the new chip and to what temperature did you set the knife-shaped tip of the soldering station when you were cleaning the contacts of the bottom chip and applying the solder paste to it? Thanks a ton!

...but not many people are gonna have a scope to magnify the electronics like you have, and seeing the solder joints could be a major problem especially given their location.
I was a PC tech for years, and 'im not sure I could make this repair... especially without the scope. Its not an easy one for sure.

I have a pair of questions: I have understood that the problem is a bad soldering of the processor, so, why is it neccessary to change the IC? Can't you use the same one? And after repairing the cellphone by doing this you're showing, the same problem doesn't happen again? Thank you!
I know this is an old video but the problem with the G3 and G4 has to do with the solder that was used (and/or the technique.) The "ball solder joints". A pin or two, or three from the CPU becomes essentially disconnected from the board after heating and cooling down over time.
Great video. If we don't have access to a new chip can we reball and clean our old chip and put it back??

We cannot know for sure, because there are many different variables, but since we started using the heat sinks we have not had any return with the same issue.

If your time is worth something that is you are being paid by hours and your throughput affects your salary as well you'll find using factory "balled" new chips a much wiser option. If you work on your own then especially in a case like this one reballing would save you a lot of money and be a much quicker fix.
Thanks for the video series, my g4 started bootlooping. i did a reflow and get it to turn on again just to make the back up and haven't used it since that. Do you think that reballing this chip and with the heatsink this phone could work normally?

2. Is worth buying a used LG G4 (on price 70-80$) that is already in bootloop and try to fix it ?
3. About heat sink, on the area over the processor, do you think that, if you add something that put a bit of pressure on processor will prevent the problem to appear again (desoldering problem) ?
4. Can you do a feedback video to tell how this fixes behaves in time, on intensive use (like gaming) and for how log they resist?

1 & 2. No this is one of the more complicated repairs and I would definitely not recommend buying one that has this issue and attempting to repair it with minimal experience and knowledge.
3. No pressure has nothing to do with the fix. What the heat sinks do, is consume and spread the heat, thus keeping the processor as cool as possible.
4. Sure, but up to date we haven't had any return with this defect. So far so good. As for gaming, that is very hard to test since I would have to employ someone to sit and play games on the unit to see if it will come back. I'm sure over the long term it will but short term, we have done hundreds of these without any issues or returns so far. Keeping my fingers crossed.

I had similar issue. my phone stuck in lg logo and won't boot. I fix it by using octopus box. and now my lg g4 h818p works fine. :)

What is the point of reballing a chip that has been damaged due to severe heat over a long period of time?

g4 working fine now just booted 3 times then after working fine almost 30 mis now working fine now it will work fine using heavy applications
I would not use heavy applications and games. I don't think this phone can handle it and might overheat again.

I have a different problem. I have a slip screen issue. Where half the screen work perfectly... And the other half works when it wants to. Everything I read online points to the processor not being seeded right. How do I fix that issue correctly?
I did exactly what I see on UA-cam trying to fix my lg v10 booth loop issue. However, I don't know what I did wrong but after I assembled the phone back instead of it to be revived, the screen now divides into two horizontal sides with one side black with the lg logo and the other half white with kind of small patches. I love this phone and barely used it for two weeks after I bought than the dreaded loop started. Is there anything that can be done to bring it back in working condition. What. Could have gone wrong.

Very informative video! Keep up the good work. I just wanted to confirm if the given processors will work the same with other models as well? I have two G4 as follows:
(1) H811 (doesn’t goes past the LG logo and starts heating up); and
(2) H815 International Version (it started this issue yesterday and as you said, I didn’t turned it on at all to avoid any more damage to the processor chip. Should I try the reflow and heat sink replacement method first before going for the processor replacement?)

great video! Just one small comment - the "processor" on the top is not a processor, but an LPDDR ram chip. Just google the part number printed on the chip will confirm this.

Yes ,can I send my phone to you and get it fixed you've got an opportunity here mate help the the masses, I like my LG to be honest I'm actually using a Galaxy S7 edge at the minute despite the massive massive distance in prices, I would still probably like them about the same, I feel LG the company should have been made called back all the phones and fix them because, I only had mine a wet day, when out of nowhere my battery drained one night and that was the end of my phone, I actually think my one could be a battery issue because, I can never get it to charge is this possible, I heard somebody saying one time that there are two ways that you can get the Boot loop 1 is of course their separation of the chip and the other apparently is the battery gone wrong and mine my battery doesn't charge at all what do you reckon
