This situation occurred because Hugh now has 2 extremely high-rated HS QBs. Good problem to have. Maybe next year AU needs to take a 3 or 4 Star HS QB from AL. Someone not expecting to start in year 1 or 2.
I wonder if Walker left because Freeze "encouraged" him to leave or if he left because he doesn't feel he can compete? If it's the former, then I get it and hope he lands at a good spot. If it's the latter situation, then I am disappointed quite frankly. No P4 school is going to give him any guarantees - he will have to prove himself there too. Maybe he can get a guarantee at the G5 level, I dunno.
The G5 idea is logical thinking but these guys have the mindset of a warrior an think they can beat out the other guy. Then when it doesn't happen they step down hoping to be back up.
C5 I've seen a few comments of White leaving because he wants to be closer to his mother due to health reasons. Have you seen anything about that or is there any validity to that?
Has Walker officially gone into the portal?? Because Walker hasn’t said anything and neither has Auburn. Everything I’ve seen says it’s being reported by someone he’s going into the portal…..
Hank Brown going to Iowa is a step down? I suggest you look at football records for both schools since 2012. Yep, you have to go that far back to find a loosing season for Iowa. How far back for Auburn? Try the last 4 seasons! To say that Walker White is afraid of competition is a joke. You don’t know what Hugh Freeze May have told him. Maybe White felt betrayed. Maybe White saw the writing on the wall. Hugh Freeze will be gone at some point next season when the loosing starts. Maybe he makes it until the end of the season. Maybe not. It doesn’t matter if you are the king of recruiting if you can’t develop those recruits into starters. If you can’t call plays to run your game plan into the win column. After two losing seasons Hugh Freeze is coaching for his job. The only reason Hugh Freeze has a job is because Auburn is still paying Brian Harsin. He stuck with a quarterback who could not make good decisions in a rpo offense. Should have made play calls that were strictly run or pass plays only, taking the decision out of Peyton Thorne hands. Which may have helped Thorne in the long run. But Hugh Freeze was to stubborn to change of modify his offense. Hugh Freeze also admitted that play calling was done by a committee of three. Sounds like a recipe for disaster and it was. If you are supposedly an offensive guru, why does it take three people to call plays? To say that Walker White or Hank Brown left because they couldn’t cut the mustard or were afraid to compete is asinine. They weren’t being developed. Several 4 and 5 star quarterbacks have failed because they weren’t molded to fit the system. Remember that Hugh Freeze recruited Walker White and Hank Brown. So if they were scrubs it calls Hugh Freeze’s judgement into consideration. Recruiting a high school star is one thing but turning said player into a college football star at a power five school is another. Something Hugh Freeze seems incapable of doing. Auburn has become the Vanderbilt of the SEC. And that is because of the pride, stubbornness and lack of judgement of a certain individual in the head coach position.
In this era of CFB, QB rooms are only 2-deep. Gone are the days of holding a blue chipper in the 3 slot. You honestly just hope to have a capable body on the practice squad.
How is going to Iowa a step down? They're going to a bowl. You do know that Auburn hasn't had a winning season since 2019, right? Face it, Pollyanna. Auburn is the step down now.
LOL we aren't really going to compare programs are we? Auburn is in a down period now down. In no reality is it not a step down to leave AU to go to Iowa
@@TheBarnAuburn We used to have down years. Now we have down periods? Worst losing streak against Bama since the '70s. Worst against Georgia in almost a hundred years. Those are pretty long periods. Well, at least we have a bigger stadium than Iowa.
The question you’re asking is most likely that these kids are wanting more money now because they’re young and not thinking like you are and want to start on the upper level now. Parents maybe as well looking at that high NIL offer as well and not thinking of a mid level school too. That should be the way to go to showcase a college highlight reel to where the big leagues look and can give you the opportunity then
I rarely criticize the young men. But Walker is making a mistake. All he is showing is he felt he couldn't compete with either Arnold or Deuce? Am I off here to think if he didn't have enough of a competitive drive to compete...is he going to be able to lead a top offense? Just ridiculous he bolted. Really think this portal is ruining a lot of CFB.
Sure looks like the timing was a deliberate piling on, until I hear an explicit reasonable explanation that doesn't include his mother, then it's obvious it was made for deliberate effect, he absolutely wasn't asked to leave, on the contrary is my information.
I know basketball and football portaling and money are different based on the amount of kids you're recruiting but Bruce has almost, except for a select few, quit relying on HS kids. Find a 3 star hidden HS gem to fill the backend of the roster but maybe portal QBs are the way to go. No one with potential talent wants to sit and wait their turn anymore.
Auburn needs to hurry and hire a new Linebacker coach, gonna lose more on that side of ball if not.. portal need to be reevaluated and some adjustments need to be made.
@@cameroncarr2293 well idk if they’re going to hire someone or just have the D-Line coach re-absorb that role. I think the only reason we split it out was to keep Aldridge in an on the field role after we hired DJ.
I don't mind the portal. I think kids just don't make great decisions and get bad advice by outside influences that don't really care about their well being
For the people that are saying they didn’t want to compete is false. these guys have rode with freeze from the jump and he haven’t showed any interest in playing Walker or Hank. Look how he did Hank when he threw those picks. He didn’t give Hank a chance to actually gain experience. so you think Walker would’ve had a chance?? I don’t think so, it was best for them to find a place where they have a chance to play. No one is waiting until their senior year. NO ONE
He didn't want to compete. He's basically said it. If it were what you were suggesting he would have gone into the portal when it opened and not after Jackson Arnold was announced
Kids don’t want to sit and learn anymore and we’re creating a culture of teaching kids to run from their trials. That’s exactly what we want to teach them 🤦♂️.
Can’t blame Walker White here as he’s damned either way IF Arnold was promised the job like what has been said on some forums. If Arnold works out WW sits and waste his eligibility. If Arnold doesn’t work out then CHF may not be the coach after next year. Now WW potentially is on the outside looking in with a new coach that wants “his guy” and not the previous coaches.
Love Hank and Walker.... but I do not get the gnashing of teeth. Let's see how it all plays out. We need to have some serious competition. We need to have backups that try to TAKE IT AWAY from the starter. Not those waiting for their time to come. All I can assume with Walker is that he was not aggressive enough to take it away from Thorne this year. The pecking order needs to be based on who takes the job not who waits on the job.
So Hugh didn’t have a conversation with Hank or Walker prior to the portal and check their positions….a H/C needs to have a very transparent relationship with his QB….as a former DII GOLF COACH, I would ask my captain questions about the dynamics associated with my team….that was common sense…he confirmed on many occasions what I thought. It was just info to plug into my decision process. I don’t get Hugh.

It's about competition, options, and variety. Maybe you have a package guy, your backup, and a younger guy who you'd bring the second half of G5 games to gain experience and maintain a redshirt.
It’s more for scout team and spring and fall practices.
They need the depth at QB to actually practice.
This situation occurred because Hugh now has 2 extremely high-rated HS QBs. Good problem to have. Maybe next year AU needs to take a 3 or 4 Star HS QB from AL. Someone not expecting to start in year 1 or 2.
You're probably right
High rated but we shall see how it plays out on a college field
I wonder if Walker left because Freeze "encouraged" him to leave or if he left because he doesn't feel he can compete? If it's the former, then I get it and hope he lands at a good spot. If it's the latter situation, then I am disappointed quite frankly. No P4 school is going to give him any guarantees - he will have to prove himself there too. Maybe he can get a guarantee at the G5 level, I dunno.
He was not encouraged to leave
The G5 idea is logical thinking but these guys have the mindset of a warrior an think they can beat out the other guy. Then when it doesn't happen they step down hoping to be back up.
C5 I've seen a few comments of White leaving because he wants to be closer to his mother due to health reasons. Have you seen anything about that or is there any validity to that?
One of the guys on War Rapport said that he had spoken to Walker and that being closer to his mother was not the reason that he was leaving.
Thoughts on what the Auburn Nike gear will look like?
I really hope it’s the Jumpman logo
@@robbanks7393 I’m just hoping for some decent tshirts
@@robbanks7393 it’s sad Columbia makes better auburn gear than under Armour
Man that Arnold graphic looked pretty dope
No doubt
I wish we could have played Illinois, Rutgers, Purdue, Nebraska the last 10 years instead of UGA, Bammer, LSU, Ole Miss, A/M, UT, Florida
@@jdr617 If wishes were fishes, no one would go hungry. No law that says we have to stay in the SEC. If we can't compete, maybe move to the Sun Belt?
College football no longer exist!
Do you think they should try and get Murphy now?
No
Why would they when JA has been promised the job?
I thought Arnold was a redshirt freshman this year which means Arnold has 3 more years
I like WW he gud guy😮
The question you’re asking is most likely that these kids are wanting more money now because they’re young and not thinking like you are and want to start on the upper level now.
Parents maybe as well looking at that high NIL offer as well and not thinking of a mid level school too.
That should be the way to go to showcase a college highlight reel to where the big leagues look and can give you the opportunity then
“John Mateer?”
How is Iowa a step down. They win at least 7-8 games every year.
I don't mind the move. The timing just made no sense.
No doubt
Auburn needs to hurry and hire a new Linebacker coach, gonna lose more on that side of ball if not.. portal need to be reevaluated and some adjustments need to be made.
DJ Durkin is the LB coach. Josh Aldridge moved from LBs to Edge Coach when we hired DJ
@nickbryan217 well we need edge coach then. All the Reports of Aldridge taking new job said linebacker coach my bad
@@cameroncarr2293 well idk if they’re going to hire someone or just have the D-Line coach re-absorb that role. I think the only reason we split it out was to keep Aldridge in an on the field role after we hired DJ.
@nickbryan217 thats a good point
Your QB situation is far from being settled
The transfer portal is ruining college football. No one respects the commitment that a player makes.
I don't mind the portal. I think kids just don't make great decisions and get bad advice by outside influences that don't really care about their well being
@ I felt sure walker white would have stayed. Freeze has got to solidify that we position by developing someone His job depends on it!
@@TheBarnAuburn how do you see there would have been any competition for the QB position? Just no way we got JA without some promises from Freeze. 😂
Walker may had hoped they were bringing in a backup for him and he though he would be QB1
He was the only person on earth that believed that would be the case then
Right now there is no QB 1.
C5 I don’t think kj went back to Arkansas 😭 that was a fake page big dawg
Trolling is becoming an art form
Am so butt hurt about Walker White leaveing. I gotta step away from AU football until the spring. See y'all the
War Damn Eagle
Hank was terrible and Walker scared of Knight
Love Hank and Walker.... but I do not get the gnashing of teeth. Let's see how it all plays out. We need to have some serious competition. We need to have backups that try to TAKE IT AWAY from the starter. Not those waiting for their time to come. All I can assume with Walker is that he was not aggressive enough to take it away from Thorne this year. The pecking order needs to be based on who takes the job not who waits on the job.
Jefferson did not go back to Arkansas. Green is still there
My bad I got trolled
@@TheBarnAuburn I did too at first😂
So Hugh didn’t have a conversation with Hank or Walker prior to the portal and check their positions….a H/C needs to have a very transparent relationship with his QB….as a former DII GOLF COACH, I would ask my captain questions about the dynamics associated with my team….that was common sense…he confirmed on many occasions what I thought. It was just info to plug into my decision process. I don’t get Hugh.
Yes he did. Which is why the timing was so strange of WW leaving
@@TheBarnAuburn
What was exactly said?
Why is it a shock to y’all. Seriously
We have a 5 star Knight and a 5 star Arnold with experience from Oklahoma! Quit crying
Well lets replace walker white with another 5☆☆☆☆☆ and we will have an even better QB room 😆 WAR MF EAGLE
Until they regulate NIL and the portal we will live like this. They need to implement sitting a year when players jump in the portal.
Still haven't seen walker in portal
