- After a short break I'll continue the uploads. And we'll stay in the late 80's early 90's for a couple of uploads to come.
This next show is Elton's tribute show to late Dee Murray. It was played in Nashville at the Grande Ole Opry House, the 15th of March 1992. Elton had obviously chosen to do concert solo and this show is got of some quite interesting points.
What is very interesting is that Elton used his Steinway grand piano for this show which he stopped using in 1986.
Also, this show was one of the first public shows without the band. Elton did a lot of Ray Cooper concerts during the 70's but never a solo show with only him and the piano (only once in Scotland in 1976 which is on my channel!). The show contains the first solo version of 'Burn Down The Mission', 'Philadelphia Freedom' (which is awesome!), 'The North' (which is rarely played - he played it during the Ray Cooper concerts in 1993 and 1994), and 'That's What Friends Are For' (which is the only performance only by Elton as far as I know).
We have to remember that this show was a memorial concert and therefor the rock songs like 'Burn Down The Mission', 'Philadelphia Freedom', and especially 'Bennie And The Jets' is a bit inappropiate.
However, this show is an excellent show and the quality is in fantastic soundboard quality.
-Enjoy!
Love this song, great to have a solo version.
Masterpiece, heartbreaking song.
The best live version, happy to find it.
Sir Elton John has been the soundtrack of my entire life since long, long time ago. Blessings to him cos'he's still standing after all this time.
I Love you Elton John!!! Brazil !!
Superb song
just spectacular....
Love this song
Voice sounds really young here for 1992. Wow.
yeah, that was strange
he hadn't done a show in 6 months so that could be a good reason .
Thank you so much for uploading. Terrific song and clear recording. That's not a Steinway, though. It is the Roland he used throughout 1992.
Esta canción es tan especial para mí...gracias por compartirla!
Good song
LOVE me too!!!!!

Have you seen the North
That cold grey place
Don't want its shadow anymore
On my face
A man grows bitter
We're a bitter race
Some of us never get to see
A better place
In the Northern Skies
There was a steel cloud
It used to follow me around
But I don't see it now
There's a farm in the rain
And a little farmhouse
There were a young man's eyes
Looking south
The North was my mother
But I no longer need her
You trade your roots and your dust
For a face in the river
And a driven rain that washes you
To a different shore
There's a North in us all
But my North can't hold me anymore
Mooi
HEY SIR ELTON CHECK OUT MY TRIBUTE TO YOU ERIC FORD DON'T LET THE SUN GO DOWN ON ME I AM ON MY WHY OUTTT I LUV YOUR PRESENT THAT YOU GAVE THE WORLD MY BE BLESSED I LUV TO MEET YOU THAT WOULD MAKE MY DAY JUST A LITTLE BIT BRIGHTER THANK ERIC FORD
Elton is using the Roland RD-1000 here. Not the Steinway.
EltonJohn1969- he used the Steinway as well on a selection of songs during this show. On this particular song he is using the RD-1000
EltonJohnGigs Yes, I know that. But there was a comment on here saying that on this song was the Steinway.
"There's a North in us all"
I feel like I'm about as far north as you can get. (I have to go through a lot of pain and stress in my life. And, other than my family, I have no one to turn to.) :(
Also, what does he mean in the song, he used to have a bad life, but now things are better?
His last great album.
I would say Songs from the West Coast was his last great one, but this is a fine album as well. The last 2 albums, Diving Board and Wonderful Crazy Night, were awful.
You're total wrong. Made ln England, The Big Picture, Songs From the West Coast are pretty good albums too. Besides, great songs later on; The Bridge, Home, A Good Heart etc...
@@wagnercabrerisso5986 The Big Picture is total garbage. Bernie said it was the worst album the pair of them ever made.
@@thefonzkiss where did he say that?
@@thefonzkiss actually Bernie said that about jump up
