People don't understand it's the judge's final say. That being said, he ultimately gave Stephanie leniency. With such a low bail and only 14 years given good time served. All for what!? Because I go to school and have no priors that is pitiful. It just shows how shitty the criminal justice system is.
I think the reasoning is probably balancing rehabilitation and punishment. She still has an opportunity to be a productive member of society later in life. The longer she stays in prison the more likely it is that she winds up falling into a life of crime after she gets out. Overall it’s better for society for us to rehabilitate people, and other countries do a much better job at it than we do in the US. Please don’t interpret this as defending her or excusing her actions. These are just the things judges take into consideration.

Therefore, sentencing people based on potential for rehabilitation is completely subjective and arbitrary, and ends up having more to do with bias and privilege than anything else. This was after police told her she killed two people. She was completely remorseless. Her reckless behavior and her driving drunk and killing two people only resulted in 14 years in prison. That’s if she even does all the time. What a disgrace she should have been given two life sentences. I can’t imagine how that must feel for the families of the victims.

No one is going to get what they deserve when pleading guilty but almost 15 years seems like a fair sentence. She also talked about not having snapchat (if she goes to prison), drinking in Vegas because there's no legal drinking limit in Vegas, when she could get her car back and was more concerned about whether or not she could go to school on Monday. The cop tries again to explain to her that she KILLED two innocent people with her car and she didn't even have the slightest look of remorse. To her, her personal life being interrupted by the arrest was more concerning. Intoxication and being high usually reveals a person's true side and this is her true side. "Two people died? Whatever. A 14 yr sentence, and she'll be out in less than 7 yrs. I have no idea, but I can't imagine that she's ever going to feel remorse or think about what she did. She will block it out and move forward and live a full life, while the victims' lives were ended so quickly.

There’s an account on TikTok that shows a lot of information about her and her family. She was out on bond for a whole year before her actual sentencing, and within that time she met a guy, got pregnant by him, and they got married the day before her sentencing. So I believe she’s in jail right now and she’s about eight months pregnant so they will probably transport her to a medical facility so she can give birth.

He’s doing his time, he knows what pain he caused, he knows he deserves this - so when I was watching the recording police had of her I was absolutely STUNNED to see the lack of remorse. People don't understand it's the judge's final say. That being said, he ultimately gave Stephanie leniency. With such a low bail and only 14 years given good time served. All for what!? Because I go to school and have no priors that is pitiful. It just shows how shitty the criminal justice system is.
I think the reasoning is probably balancing rehabilitation and punishment. She still has an opportunity to be a productive member of society later in life. The longer she stays in prison the more likely it is that she winds up falling into a life of crime after she gets out. Overall it’s better for society for us to rehabilitate people, and other countries do a much better job at it than we do in the US.
Please don’t interpret this as defending her or excusing her actions. These are just the things judges take into consideration.

Therefore, sentencing people based on potential for rehabilitation is completely subjective and arbitrary, and ends up having more to do with bias and privilege than anything else. I’m absolutely disgusted by this woman’s behavior when she was arrested and how she behaved in the hospital. She was laughing, singing and talking about going to Vegas for her birthday. This was after police told her she killed two people. She was completely remorseless. Her reckless behavior and her driving drunk and killing two people only resulted in 14 years in prison. That’s if she even does all the time. What a disgrace she should have been given two life sentences. I can’t imagine how that must feel for the families of the victims.

The cop tries again to explain to her that she KILLED two innocent people with her car and she didn't even have the slightest look of remorse. To her, her personal life being interrupted by the arrest was more concerning. Intoxication and being high usually reveals a person's true side and this is her true side. "Two people died? Whatever. Can I get my car back? I have class on Monday."

There’s an account on TikTok that shows a lot of information about her and her family. She was out on bond for a whole year before her actual sentencing, and within that time she met a guy, got pregnant by him, and they got married the day before her sentencing. So I believe she’s in jail right now and she’s about eight months pregnant so they will probably transport her to a medical facility so she can give birth.

A distant family member of mine is in jail currently. He lost his wife to a terminal illness, never was a drinker before, but became one after her loss. He got super wasted and drove on one of their painful anniversaries, killed a man who was a pillar in a community as he drove drunk, and as he should, he cried the whole time and begged for forgiveness. He’s doing his time, he knows what pain he caused, he knows he deserves this - so when I was watching the recording police had of her I was absolutely STUNNED to see the lack of remorse.

Pretty sad that these young adults have more common sense than the officials actually running the college.
What she did was absolutely horrible and should never have happened. I understand people not wanting her at the school and especially at graduation, but we also have a legal system and she hasn’t had her day in court yet so I understand the school not doing anything.

I've always read that if you wanna off someone, do it with a vehicle. For some reason vehicular homicide is treated like a small infaction. she got 7 years oer life, and she wont serve all of it, ill be surprised if she serves 10.
Because she wasn't a threat to society. There were strict guidelines - no driving, no alcohol, etc.

My heart and prayers go out to the 2 people who were killed and I feel for them but I also believe that the girl should be able to graduate. If convicts can get there degree after everything they did, she should be able to too 💯
