Replacing Rusted out Floors in a Classic Truck

  • I've been avoiding this job for a while now. Floor repair is always such ugly, time consuming work that you just end up covering with carpet. These old Chevy trucks always rust out the same way. The rockers and cab corners will with road debris and hold moisture while rusting out everything in its path. The patch panels are cheap and relatively easy to replace, just dirty dirty work. I managed to get everything completely welded, seam sealed and painted. Now it's time to work on something fun!

Just found your channel about a week ago. Just trying to catch up with you projects.
You been working on all my favorites.
My all time favorite car is ‘55 Chevy. I don’t care if it’s a post, 2or4 door, or pick up version.
    One day I’ll own one.
Right now I am waiting to get started on a ‘68 beetle powered by a ‘98 Dodge Dakota RT powertrain. It’s what I had hangin around.
Enjoy watching you videos, keep at it.

Those new tailgates you mentioned aren't as strong as originals. A friend of mine ponied up and bought a aftermarket. He's standing on the gate backed up to a dock, picks up 150 lbs and the tailgate gave up and dumped him. Luckily he didn't get seriously hurt. He did get seriously mad lol. So its something to consider. He ended up getting an old tailgate and fixing it. Floors look great. Thanks for sharing

I know the pain of the shipping to canada. Luckily I'm by the border so I order stuff to a post office a few km over the border and then hope they dont make me pay coming back across lol.

Looking like its getting a good refresh on roaring to life again.bet youll be happy to be done with the body work and actaully get to run it.what are plans for it,flipping it or keeping for awhile just asking since you did all the hard work.??please get rid of that ugly steering wheel.if you gotta sell a motor and get one of those modular chrome complete steering wheels a nice thick spoke and rubber would look nice or even a welded chain steering wheel would be cooler than that clunky hog in it now.plus new wires n signals would be another upgrade.snookie pa.
