- The A.V. Club heads west to visit downtown L.A.'s iconic Bradbury Building, a gorgeous architectural landmark from the 1890s that played an important role in films like Blade Runner, The Artist, and 500 Days of Summer.
Join The A.V. Club's Sean O'Neal as we learn how a symbol of Old Hollywood fell into total disrepair before being rejuvenated with the help of Harrison Ford and some escaped replicants. - Розваги
Thank you for this. I got a job in LA and can't wait to work in this building.
i'm a HUGE blade runner fan and that building is just epic.the mixed architectural styles of art deco, art nouveau and colonial asia just make it timeless.
I'm in love with this building and yes Blade Runner movie is my all time classic thanks for the history of the Bradbury can't wait to be able to visit this landmark
I live downtown and pass by the Bradbury building every day. As you have mentioned the building is historic and beautiful many movies and TV shows have been filmed at this location. One of my favorites that you have missed was with Robert Culp and the old Si-Fi series Outer Limits, the episode was Demon with a Glass Hand (1964). This episode won the Writer's Guild award for best screenplay in 1965, the first of four awarded to Harlan Ellison.
realizing that scene from _The Artist_ was shot in the same building as that scene from _(500) Days of Summer_ blew my mind. so cool. gotta visit one day.
First time i saw this building was in the movie wolf. Even as a kid i was impressed by the design.
Great history. We did a video here too but didn't touch on all this history like you guys did. I need to see more of those old films.
Also one of my favorite movie the 1986 film Murphy's Law with Charles Bronson was filmed at the Bradbury building
I went there many times, and took many people, to this building when I lived in Los Angeles.
can you go ine elevators?
Ever since I was a kid, I had always wanted to walk inside the Bradbury. Interestingly, I ended up visiting the building the same week Rutger Hauer died.
Aside from the many movies filmed in the Bradbury Bldg. it is only fair to mention that one of the best TV episodes of The Outer Limits was filmed here called "Demon with A Glass Hand" with Robert Culp and Arlene Martel. in the early sixties. This episode beautifully demonstrates the buildings potential for action .running and jumping shots.
Culp was great in that. And the building was a star too.
A beautiful Building - a nice overveiw of the buidling - so many movies filmed there over the years? - over in Skipton N Yorksire England they built an iro stair case very much like the Bradburys - Not as big though but it is open to the element - the wind & the rain that the Dales provides - Thanks for sharing - Steve B
beautiful staircase
The movie "Good Neighbor Sam" with Jack Lemmon and Dorothy Provine had a scene located in the Bradbury Bldg. That movie is from 1964 and the building was portrayed as a sleazy hotel/brothel set in San Francisco.
"Wolf" with Jack Nicholson was shot there too.
I’m interested in one unseen aspect of this building: the room interiors and how close they are to the scenes in Blade Runner.
Some of the Blade Runner interior scenes (I think Decker's apt) is the interior of the Ennis House (Griffith Park area, Frank Lloyd Wright), also used for MANY other movies (including the exterior for the Vincent Price "House on Haunted Hill").
Nice building :-) Keep these coming, I love these history lessons :-)
Good Neighbor Sam with Jack Lemmon was also filmed here .
Very cool!
Raymond Chandler's paradise in film noir in the 40s and 50s as the b film M was shot there as well as vanished landmarks on Bunker Hill
I found this video after watching Justin Timberlake's "say something" video. It was just beautiful.
Want to visit it
Outer Limits episode Demon With a Glass Hand
Outer Limits 1963 demon with a glass hand was shot there
Why can't they keep it the way it was in Blade Runner ?
The mood, its all about the mood .. its meant to look rundown and shadowy ...
I'm pretty sure that parts of the original film DOA were shot here.
Umm.. most people knows the building as the "Blade Runner" building so not sure what that Harry guy is talking about at the end (and you don't have to be a Blade Runner nerd)
Bladerunner
Can you go in the elevators still?
