I was wrong, Thought dls was going to pull this off. This game confirmed who runs Northern California at this time. Good luck to Serra against Mater dei or Bosco in open
Great win for Serra. I remember when de La salle was an unbeatable monster. Now, not so much. Looks like they need a coaching change if they want to go back to their old winning ways.
ALF, our producer, made that comment a couple of years ago when SF defeated DLS that year. Walsh is by far the best candidate for many of these high-profile teams in need of going to the next level. But, he believes Serra and Walsh will never part, especially now that Charlie is a freshman in the Padres program. But who knows, they'll probably discuss this question you posed this week. We'll let them know.@@marcvslicinivscrassvs7536
@@GetSportsFocus Honestly, I know DLS is not going to replace Alumbaugh on account of wins and losses. The school is mission focused. Whether the football team wins state titles is clearly not a priority at this point. As long as the players go to college and become productive members of society, the football program will be seen as successful. That's the way I see it going forward.
Did you really just say there was a 9 AM freshman game? Wow that's early. The JV DLS team looked pretty good. Maybe they should move a few of the hungry lads up to Var depending on how the season goes. As for the game..... it was a good defensive performance by Serra & Monsef. This is not the DLS I remember growing up. I don't know what they're doing but they need to get the ball to their playmakers. Where was Blanche and Cunningham at for the offense? Give them the ball. 14:00 obviously coach ALabum is not taking this serious when he is out there smiling and giving big hugs after getting shut out. If this was my program I would just quickly shake hands and walk away like Saban does when he loses. Someone high up at DLS needs to have a talk with the AD Lopoz and Alabum because this program might go 1-6 since they still have St. Marys, SRV, St. Francis, Mack, and the mighty Folsom remaining on the schedule.
I’d love to see Serra bring the state open title back to NorCal, but we all know what’s in store for Serra in the open. Bosco or Mater Dei will dominate again winning 44-0. Maybe 44-7. The state open won’t be back to norcal for the foreseeable future. Those two teams down there are just on a different planet
They play top tier opposition and well coached and with great talent Folsom and serra only play norcal schools and beat up on a horrid de la salle team compared to 18-19 19-20 teams who blew them both out Its prob 10 or 15 teams in so cal who can beat serra or folsom They need to play centennial orange Lutheran, mission viejo, los alamitos. Before bosco or mater dei Serra and folsom cant score on them
@Marcel Folsom should start playing the best public schools the south has to offer and Serra should start playing the best private schools. When both programs get good enough they should start playing top tier private schools and public schools in the country for a non league schedule. Centennial being one of the best public schools in the country would roll em both up
Those guys play like college professionals level! Those guys can put a show on Serra not touch! It’s Tom Brady high school that’s what’s it all about there
Agree with all points. Serra needs to bite the bullet and try to schedule SJB, MD, or Cen10 in the preseason, just to adjust to the size and speed differential. Or get a BG series going. That's how national powers come up. They take their lumps early and grow from it. I remember when Tony Sanchez first got to Gorman and they lost to DLS, who was still on top at the time. A few years later and BG was running HS football.
@marcvs agreed. Could you imagine a non league schedule for Serra consisting of St Francis Academy (Baltimore), St Thomas Aquinas (Florida), Bishop Gorman, and Cen10? It’d be a brutal schedule but very much needed to get to the next level
Serra need to schedule atleast one top tier team from southern California to improve their power rankings and get more physical to complete with the Bosco and mater dei anyone disagree
U think this the year Pittsburg always seems like the strongest candidate I Kno u very knowledgeable about this Idk de la salle usually gets better as season goes But this is just a steep decline They was a top 10 team in nation 4 years ago
@@Celly500Armstead-jt5ut The only schools in the NCS this year are probably Pitt and San Ramon Valley. Pitt went up and handled Granite Bay pretty easily. Pitt has a new coaching staff who light be able to get more of you the program. I still wouldn't bet against DLS against any non top NorCal schools these days. Folsom Serra, St. Francis, I can see it. But if anyone could do it, Pitt can.
Soo when will we see Serra play some real competition. Why don’t Serra play more SoCal teams: Corona Centennial, Servite, Mater Dei, SJB, Los Alamitos, Oaks Christian or out of state teams like Kahuku, Bishop Gorman, Bingham.
Different levels of football. Serra is good for their area but they don’t have the size and athleticism to hang with any of the top Southern Section programs.
This is easily the worst DLS team I’ve ever seen. Way undersized on the line, slow off the ball, lacks the trademark intensity and aggression that DLS is known for. Sad to see how far they’ve fallen.
Crazy to think two former Spartans on that Serra Defense #42 and #8. Barrett balled out ♠️

Great game until that 99-yard scoring drive by Serra. Made them tap out in the fourth. #27 is a BEAST

Who'd be the perfect hire?
I was there! They got guys that are big! Half of them were like average size kinda embarrassing

It is pretty crazy to see the Spartans get shut out. Serra’s defense is loaded.
The starters will shut out every team the rest of the schedule
SRV is very good
Didn’t the Head coach of Serra go to dLS, Patrick Walsh, who ironically lived right behind my HS
Yes he’s a DLS and SJSU Alum

These schools should play schools from SoCal

All that is left is for DLS to lose to an NCS team.
