  • This June Tailor Mug Mat kit makes 3 mug mats - I made a mug mat from one, but used the other two to make a cute zippered pouch! So simple to make as a gift or for yourself!
Get the Mug Mats on the Accuquilt site with this affiliate link: shrsl.com/4hjde
And get the beautiful Flower Fields fabric I used at this affiliate link: shrsl.com/4hpk7

Thank you for this video. I am just beginning to sew and learning to quilt. You made the box corners make sense. I appreciate the extra information as to when to do the corners. Subscribed. Lots of love from the Pacific Northwest 🧡

I love this! I can only use so many mug rugs, but I always need a zipped pouch.

I’ve never made any kind of bag, etc. before and using the June Tailor Mug Mat kit looks like a fun way to start. I’m an Accuquilt Addict (AA!!!) so am very comfortable with using their machines and dies, but I’m still on the fence with this die - I’m considering getting your template and making a few bags first to see if it all works for me before I purchase the die. These bags would be so cute as Christmas gifts for a couple friends plus making a few for our guild’s participation in a Craft Fair next November. Thank you for your nice slow and concise instructions - such a cute bag!!😁😁😁

I also love accuquilt! And you can make this bag with the template instead of the die if you prefer. ❤️

The last pattern I made boxed the corners after you sewed the sides! This looks easier!

    • @CarolinaMoore
      @CarolinaMoore  4 місяці тому

Yes, I've seen it done that way as well... this feels more accurate to me, though. ❤️

Way more accurate! Can’t wait to try it!

It sure does look so much easier, especially with the bulk!! I’m I. The bag learning stage of my life😁😁😁

Great tutorial! While I have done this technique before; your video reinforces the steps to make the bag in proper order. Thank you😊.

Oh! Now I'm interested in making three bags, but sewing the Boxed corners at a different step in the process... hmmm... need to find time to do that! ❤️

Cute, but would be so much easier to just cut the box corners with a ruler than an acquilt.

For some people, maybe. But the accuquilt is a fabulous tool for people who are at risk of cutting themselves with a rotary cutter (such as younger children - I needed stitches when I was a child because of a rotary cutter accident). It is also great for someone who doesn't have the hand strength to hold a rotary cutter and ruler, or for someone who has shaking hands and can't hold their tools still enough to cut accurately.
Different tools means that there is a tool that suits everyone. ❤️

Do we spray starch or a washing machine starch? Haven't done this and my mug rugs get off track. Thx

I spray starch. Have never heard of a washing machine starch? I'm curious... how does that work? ❤️

@@CarolinaMoore come from a military family and I remember something they put in the wash to make uniforms nice after ironing. Sta-flo is sold today's market, I don't know if it is as good as the ol-days.

@creativelychristen9955 interesting! I'm not familiar? But I was also born overseas, and while I grew up mostly in the US, my family leans towards European conventions rather than US. Maybe I'll ask my Mother in Law. She's my go-to for US conventions and traditions. ❤️

@@creativelychristen9955Sta-Flo is still available (saw it in Walmart) and several quilters I know do a 50/50 with liquid starch and water. Then put it in a good spray bottle (love these new ones that do a mist!!!). My quilt guild keeps both a regular spray starch and the 50/50 with liquid starch available for members to use whichever one they are more comfortable with. I personally prefer the pre,axe kind thst comes in a spray can. Just starch your fabric before cutting your pieces!!
