If only Sasha could skate clean (Like she did in Marshalls 2004) more often, she would have given Kwan a major run for her money. Cohen was supremely talented but Kwan was exceedingly competitive.
It's always so weird to watch this program and hear the commentators kind of rip it apart. I thought she looked absolutely radiant and even with the dip forward on the loop landing and the fall on the lutz, this program is exquisite. She looked genuinely happy in the spiral and at the finish. So naturally balletic- just beautiful!
What you mean is that Kwan made it LOOK easy. Sasha's program, while beautiful, had 2 major errors vs. a minor one from Kwan. This one was a no-brainer. The only Nationals victory that's truly up for debate is 2000.
Primarily I think they "rip it apart," because they are kind of disappointed b/c she rarely delievered a flawless LP. She almost always delivered w/ her presentation and the other parts of the first mark. Although this isn't figure jumping, jumps are a significant part of the first mark. Secondly, we should correct Mr Button. The fall was on a Triple Flutz. From that angle, it is a clear flutz.
One thing i notice is, and Zueva inadvertently highlighted this but, her transitions were net nil. She was the back crossover queen. The artistry was her softness, positions, elegance etc. Zueva’s free skates for singles skaters never really did it for me and while with Sasha , you don’t have to “ do much”, it was super basic
This was the first year a Nationals that used the overhead moveable camera eye (like they have at NFL games) .... it sucks for figure skating. That's some of the worst camera angles ever. When Michelle was doing her straight line footwork they lost track of her. Just terrible camera work.
Sasha always made her programs look slow. I love her, she's a gorgeous skater, but it always looked glacially slow. If she had better speed going into her jumps, she'd potentially miss them less often. Same for her edgework.
She is amazing. Her spins are incredible and her lay backs are just flawless! LOVE HER! xxx
I really admire Sasha Cohen's athleticism, artistry, and creativity. Her performance was very inspiring.
Her spiral sequences are iconic! ❤

I agree with you! Only Tara really gave Michelle a run for her money because she was equally as competitive.
Sasha had the artistry, the grace, the beauty but those jumps were always her downfall. Nobody was as beautiful.
Arguably the most talented skater there ever was. Such artistry.
She is freaking fantastic!

Awesomeness!!!! Love the double final combination spin at 4:19

Meghan Elizabeth yeah. In 2000 it was a splat fest. Kwan made 1 error, but Sasha made 3.

beautiful moments in this. even the mistakes.

Love it
great

I don't get it. She's got all the goods, yet she's completely out of sync with the music. I
If it was better than Kwan’s free skate she would have won but she didn’t
Better than Kwan's FS
