It seems like my comment might be a year late but this vid only just appeared in my feed. Did you replace the spitfire diff with a gt6 diff? If not the final drive gearing will be all wrong. My brother did this very same swap with his spitty 30 years ago but neglected to change the diff. As a result he had plenty of low end grunt but it topped out at about 50 mph with the engine practically on the red line.
Did something simular in the eighties, a 1600 straight in a spit MK3 biggest problem indeed, other carburators to fit under the bonnet, and getting them adjusted, hope your cooling will work, you gone need all you can get out of it, enjoy the suprised look of many other drivers for she will go like stink 😅
Hi mate sorry for the late response it’s been a while since I logged in yes there will be a update video soon it’s just a case of getting a few clips of it off of my drive!

It appears my reply is a year late. The answer is yes a gt6 diff was fitted altho 1st gear does feel as if it’s to long
love the work mate keep it up :)
Thanks mate were slowly getting there

Thanks mate still need to edit the update videos but that car is on the road and is lots of fun!
Great video, working on my 1978 Spit in bits. Need to look at seats and your new ones look interesting, where did you get them?
Got them at triumph&mg spares day but can be found on eBay but in all honesty don’t fit to well and am considering going back to original seats
Is it possible to convert a 1979 triumph spitfire Mkiv 1500 to an automatic transmission??
I’m going to be honest I’ve never done any research on converting to automatic so I wouldn’t know unfortunately
Any updates?
