Great video and really helpful but when you drag the men’s rings over to the right under men’s accessories the purple bar disappears and so the men’s rings just flirts back to the left again. I was able to do the men’s accessories over the the right to mm a sub menu under men’s no problem. Any advice greatly appreciated.
No problem and hope it was helpful. Unfortunately, you can't change them once they have been set, the only thing you can do is delete the automated one and create a manual one using the same URL.

QUESTION: from your example...I want my "Men's Accessories" page to not have products but to instead have the collections on it (i.e., links to Watches and Rings collections) instead of all of the products that are in the Watches and Rings collections. Hi Paul - great video. I'm wondering how to display the collections when you click the middle tier as opposed to the products. So for example, when you click "Men's Accessories", instead of displaying every product, can you set it so is just displays the collects (in your case its Men's Rings and Men's Watches collection)? If you were to have 10 rings and 10 watches, instead of showing 20 products when you click "Men's Accessories", it would simply show the two collections. Thank you

Great video! From what I'm seeing, is it correct that you can't apply separate tags to product variants? For example you might have a parent product of Seiko Watch in variants of pink and black. Can you add a "men's" tag to the black variant and "women's" tag to the pink variant?

Hi, no problem, I hope you found it helpful. I think it is very theme dependant as not all themes include a sidebar and/or secondary menu, where as every theme uses the main navigation menu.
Great Video, thanks! I'm just wondering how you made the 'Mens' Collection not clickable when it is the main menu header. When I set a collection as the main menu collection (categories) it is still clickable but also has a drop down menu. The collection obviously has nothing in it so it doesn't look good if people don't just hover over it and they click through to an empty page
Thank you. I didn't do anything and I haven't been to re-create what you mentioned. With the menus in my demo store, clicking on the main menu heading just opens the dropdown menu, it doesn't go through to the page.

No problem. With Shopify, you have to do a work around to create sub-collections, as they don't allows you to do this as standard. They can be created by using the navigation menus as I showed in the video, this allows customers to see how the collections are related to each other.

If you don't want to add a section to your homepage, then you need to add it to your navigation menu. If you add an item under a main heading then it turns the heading into a drop down menu, I cover this from 9:41 in the video.

Hi, not problem. If it for your collections page, the easiest way is to increase the amount of columns which can be done in the customizer. Otherwise it is changing the code in the collections-list.liquid template and then adjusting the themes default widths but unless you know what you are doing, you can easily break your sites appearance.
I’ve tried it numerous times but from my experience as soon as you add items to the heading it turns it from a clickable link to just opening the drop down menu
I'm having a bit of trouble with adding products to collections from the product page. I have multiple collections for my store but from the product page, I can only see one collection available. All the collections were made the same way using the same template so I'm scratching my head trying to figure this out. Any guidance will be greatly appreciated
If you go in and edit the collection, in the top right hand corner (on desktop), there is a section called Collection Availability and you need to make sure that Online Store is selected, otherwise they won't be usable.

I'm not really sure what you are asking. What I did, was create a collection called men's and add that to the main navigation menu, then created the other collections that I showed in the video, then did what I showed in the video from 9:17 onwards.
Here also, you added items but did not open items. When I open/click the items it will not individual item but it will open all the items in the collection list.

The featured collections section will show products that are included in that collection. If you want to just show the collections that your store has, then you need to use the collections list section and choose which collections you want to show.

Hi, showing a list of collections in Shopify is a bit of a complicated process and it is going to be a video that I will do in the near future as it wouldn't be possible to explain how to do it in a comment unfortunately.
It wasn't something I was planning on as it requires a lot of inserting code onto pages, for breadcrumbs, installing an app is the easiest way to do it reliably.
Thank you for the detailed tutorial but unfortunately, this is describing how to create nested menus in navigation, not sub-collections. I was looking for a simple way to create sub-collection templates.
Hi, thank you for the comment. The way the core Shopify system works doesn't allow for traditional sub-collections, which is why you have to use work arounds, such as the one I have shown in this video.
You're explaining the easy part only. The thing is that if you click on the parent collection it shows you "0 products" instead of a sub-collection list... This is the tricky part that needs to be solved.

My advice would be to contact the Shopify support team and they should be able to tell you what is going on.

The featured collections section will show products that are included in that collection. If you want to just show the collections that your store has, then you need to use the collections list section and choose which collections you want to show.

You can't do it exactly the same as a typical parent/child category but if you watch from 11:13, I do explain a work around for this in Shopify
