@@carancole5974 Well, him opening the signal is what brought the Nomai to the star system. On the Sun Station that the Nomai built, it said that the computer system shut itself off automatically after 10 minutes of inactivity from the users (likely 10 minutes after the death of the Nomai), which took place approximately 280,000 years before the first loop began.
The prisoner is telling you that you and he go together. Take a part of me with you when you go.

The Prisoner let out the eye's signal because he knew that even though it would kill them, the eye would make the next universe possible. Watch this video: ua-cam.com/video/vJUeKdL3OGE/v-deo.html The rest of the Owlks focused on their destruction, while the prisoner focused on the grass, the life that would come from their sacrifice. If it weren't for the Prisoner, there would be no next universe, and life would be impossible forever.

@cytechflow6273 the small flower portrait in the dream world, inside the burnt prisoners home, shows new life from the owlk skull they saw when scanning the eye, so he realized the truth
To add to this, someone used mods to see the upper rooms in starlit cove and saw pacing owlks looking worried next to strange ritual-things on the floor, so maybe he foresaw it in one of these things like they did
When you jump in the eye and land in the museum, there is more info in there about the Prisoner,
and after they finish the music around the camp, you can speak to them again and the Prisoner :D :D
oooo ill have to check that out! I thought about talking to him again while I was editing because It completely slipped my mind at that moment haha
The Prisoner wanted to let the Eye's signal out because they believed in a season for all things, including the universe. Their universe was in Winter, but if nobody reaches the Eye, it's possible Spring would never come. They believed that from their universe's death, an even more beautiful and wonderous one would form. There's a painting the Prisoner made in their burned-down house in the simulation, depicting an owl person skull overgrown with grass and a flower sprouting from it that is blooming into new galaxies, which I think is proof of their motivations. :)
That is really beautiful! Existence is a constant cycle of life, death and rebirth and now that you mention it, they really did a good job of simulating that here!
Again, wonderful playthrough. Thank you so much for sharing. This game truly is one of a kind. I've had other games that moved me to tears like Spiritfarer, Abzu, Edith Finch and Night in the Woods, but none that had the staying power of this game. I just hope that some day we get something we can all say gives us a similar experience again.
I recommend watching a speedrun of getting to the prisoner, its really funny to see them break the entire dream world

Agreed! It is so satisfying to slowly get closer and closer to the answer and you think you know what the answer is, or at least believe you have a good idea about it, only for it to finally be revealed and you see that you were either correct, close, or completely wrong!

NEVER! It will always hold a place in my heart and I don’t think anything will come close to how amazing this game was for a long time to come.
There's one other 'can only play once as learning how to solve it is the game', it's more of a murder mystery though, Return of the Obra Dinn. Premise: ship returns to harbour with nobody aboard. You have a logbook and a magic pocketwatch that shows the moment of a body's death. Find out what happened to every crewmember.
Oh really? Ill have to check that out because that sounds really interesting. I do love me a good mystery even though I feel lost or stupid half the time 😂 May play that one after I finish The Quarry.
Also Tunic. It's like if Outer Wilds, The Witness, Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past, Dark Souls, and a cute furry fox all had a baby together.
I gotta tell you, when i saw the grave instead of an instrument at the end there I BAWLED. I was so afraid that they wouldn't be there at all because they'd chosen to walk into the water. I thought that was going to be the message at first and actually dropped my controller and just ugly cried for a while.

Also, I find it amusing that you've been playing Outlast/Outlast Whistleblower DLC around the same time.
The Prisoner is the Whistleblower effectively, the Nomai are the ones who came to see.
wow didnt make that connection myself lol I knew I was nearing the end of both of them though. Guess it just all works out in the end
fun fact you ship remenber everything in logg because the computer was mad of the same stone than the nomai statue, a stone that can stock information.

Another nice little detail they added is if you open the sarcophagus and reawaken, the prisoner's corpse will be there with his lantern lit, but if you go back into the sim and actually meet him then come back out, the lantern will be extinguished, showing that he really did "free" himself. A nice little detail considering it isn't something that's really meant to be seen
You can brute-force all three of the locks holding the Prisoner...prisoner. If you do that, you don't have to commit sudoku on the fire to get to him.
They have since added a title card after you die after releasing the Prisoner to help finalize the DLC a bit more. When you end it now, it doesn't do the Nomai memory transfer the screen just goes black and says "Echoes of the Eye".
Idk what it is about title cards to finish games, but just like the end title of the main game, it brought me to tears.
Seeing those footprints lead away into the water is just so sad. It's completely understandable, and i think that makes it hurt more...
How about you getting all of the achievements and easter eggs of the bace game and DLC?
And do the thing I said to do in the high energy lab in one of the earlier DLC videos.

I've been trying to get my fiancé to play it! And yeah I can only imagine watching someone and listening to their wild theories thinking "Oh you have NO idea what's in store for you". 😂

@@cytechflow6273 Most of them say something philosophical, in the Prisoner's case, they state how the Orb you jump into is different than how they imagined. I'll go back and find out what the rest say if you so desire.
