the prisoner's pov is just a random dude who's really keen to share his back story nice and emotionally but then just kills himself bizzarrely. And that's the only thing that's happened to him for 200000 years
Imagine being just a normal owlk going about your day and all of a sudden a ship crashes into your dream world and a little blue gremlin just starts going absolutely NUTS around your dream world. UFO but Hearthian version
im not sure if the devs were aware, but the runner actually messed up around 9:00. they were supposed to fly straight back to the ship from here, but they were out of fuel because they forgot to refuel earlier. they couldnt make it to the ship and ended up falling into the lower level where the archives were, and had to come up with a way to get back as quickly as possible, on the spot. they were not prepared for this at all, it was all complete improv. they were saying like "wait can i even use this elevator. oh yeah, i can use my scout!" its honestly super impressive that they managed to recover it as well as they did. if i was running on gdq and something like that happened to me, i wouldve been devastated. massive props to the runner also, tysm for recording this. i absolutely loved watching your reactions to all of this haha. thank you so much for making this game, its my absolute favorite
To answer why 1.1.11 was used, it's because it's the most recent update of the game containing the version of the "deloading" glitch used at 21:27, we need it to go out of bounds and enter the laboratory. The WR route starts with the lab but was judged too risky for a marathon so ptminsker did this instead to avoid having to do 2 loops. 1.1.11 is also great for Starlit Cove because of the "instant wake-up zone" that was added in the lower area to avoid sequence breaks (also the backup strat if the ship doesn't land right is longer to do with the recent changes to Cove) Anyway, thanks for making this! It was very fun to watch ❤️
Hi, I'm one of the commentators, and also the guy who spontaneously asked qwerty to ask you guys to do a vc of the GDQ run! I was super nervous about doing GDQ commentary, but it turned out great! I like the reaction when I pointed out the reel censoring! lol I see you brought up suitless. Oh boy, I got into the speedrun community trying a casual suitless challenge for myself about 2 years ago. I would like to see your reaction to something coming up. We solved a major milestone to suitless, possibly the last one. TheStrangePie will be attempting a certain Suitless speedrun. It's probably like 5+ hours long I really appreciate you making this game, there really is nothing quite like it!! Glad you enjoyed the run! The combination of diverse glitches, I was confident this category will wow absolutely anyone! Even the devs!
My favorite oversight is still there: Nomai aboard the Vessel in the flashback should've had blue livery with silver accents, not their Hearth-system green w/ bronze. I just handwaved it as "Hatchling wasn't paying attention". It was so funny hearing only half the team realize why pt parked the ship there.
I learnt a new word! But yeah, it's a shame we don't get to see the intact versions of those suits, like we do with the post-crash versions in the Interloper shuttle and worn by Solanum.
21:26 Alex: "I'm glad we actually... The gravity falloff almost didn't make it in!" That right there is a well deserved celebration! Mobius' foresight lead to setting-consistent and entertaining behavior in the case of speedrunning! 21:40 Alex: "... what... oh no... this is... oh my god" And THAT is the sound of it all beautifully unraveling. 22:54 Alex: "I dunno, it kind of feels thematically appropriate" And that is the sound of acceptance. Stages of Grief: COMPLETE (Jokes aside though I love how the whole team took that sequence of loads and unloads in stride and laughed about it!)
this run was so fun to watch live, and it was even more fun to listen to you guys react to it! it would be very cool if you guys did this for more categories in the future
There's a new max% suitless speedrun by thestrangepie, that he recently edited into circa 2 hours (uploaded on his UA-cam channel). Maybe you could hop into a call with him and watch some of the more interesting parts from that speedrun together? That way he could maybe e.g. explain the crazier glitches (there went a huge amount or research into getting the last few suitless ship logs).
What an idea! A game in which adjusting the settings like resolution, graphics quality, controls, adjusting these settings has an impact on the game world? Sounds like a very outer wilds type of puzzle
Oh gosh, the mention of the marking things tutorial at the elevator made me remember my own playthrough. It took me like 20 loops to realize what you were trying to tell me!
There's no such thing as non-spoiler territory in OW, for me one of the most memorable parts of the game was finding the Stranger and then entering it totally blind.
I found out on Reddit. Apparently the place where they left the ship outside the Stranger, when you go into the dream world, it loads in the same space as the rest of that map, so if you go to the right place at the right time, your ship just glitches in, and you can use your thruster and suit and fly around LOL
I love this game. The speedruns are insane. I forgot how I liked the previous iterations of Endless Canyon better than the current one, this one is just... way more straightforward. It's weird that a game whose secret sauce for me a bit lies in its trust of the player to be able to deal with its non-linearity was made actually more linear. Also haven't been able to find the entrance to the Disco guy's room.
They were all pretty chill for most of it so I wondered if someone was gonna seethe at some point and yup, 20:29 here it is LMAO 'No! NO! You're not supposed to have this!' Edit: Nvm there's a whole collision bugs segment just next where the whole team is screeching in cringe, LMAOOO
I don't see anything out of the ordinary, just lore-accurate gameplay on Hatchling's part. Of course Hatchling would be able to put stuff on a raft and catch the raft at the exact perfect timing later on, there have been enough loops to practice it.
Having fallen in line with this game recently and been watching a lot of let's plays I dunno if it's too late but the dlc ending is a bit abrupt I think most people I have watched just get so confused about the symbolic nature of the last scene
Speaking of "spoilers without context", I still think it's funny that 100% base-game runs are done _in Russian_ (because for some reason the translator "decrypts" faster in a unicode-based language rather than ascii-based), so it's a built-in spoiler shield for those that can't read vodka runes...
I would have loved the video even more if I could hear the commentary explaining what was happening instead of the random ramblings of a group of people.
eugh, pronouns next to a speaker's on-screen name... typical AGDQ, that kind of cringy bias is why I stopped watching any of their events. Sad to see it's only gotten worse. This was fun to watch though, always neat to hear an artist's reaction when their work they bled, sweated and cried over producing gets ripped open and turned inside out in the name of speed, lol.
@@snuffypop not everybody in the world subscribes to the ideology that preferred pronouns are making direct reference/adherence to. One side calls it kind and tolerant, the other calls it anti-science and grossly dishonest. AGDQ is very very aware of the polarization surrounding such things, they are extremely and insufferably biased. No need to take my word for it, though. There's been plenty of videos made documenting and showcasing drama they needlessly caused with their own attendees and political biases aggressively shoehorned into previous GDQ events. You're better off watching some of those videos until it slowly starts painting a more complete picture for you than my disgruntled comments ever could.

you have now reacted to the devs' reaction to your reaction to the devs' game
