Thanks mate, I love pool and this is very well explained.
Merry Christmas.
Me taking these newly learned techniques over to the pool hall and getting yeld at to hurry up and shot
"I'm shooting Fats, when I miss you can shoot" ~Fast Eddie Felson
Yeld
😂
Nah I’ll just eyeball it 😂
Because you've reached that level
@@Addi_Teacha509 nah, I just eyeball it
@@Addi_Teacha509 its literally a shot youd miss one in ten if that
@@Addi_Teacha509 my ex brother-in-law used to ask me what RPM or what gear is it when you clutch your bike to get it up to ride a wheelie? I'm like man I don't know it's just a feel thing and it's kind of like that shot on that pool table there you can't tell somebody really how to do it, it's just a feel thing you know it when ya know it. What I do know is that don't make any sense but it kind of does
So with banking having a legit system doesn't hurt at times. I've found when I'm fighting off a migraine or am in pain due to my back that using a system just makes it as if im using autopilot.
Step up, find my marks, then do my best to correct for English or spin I need to use if I do.
This translates across all tables Chris? I know some systems that don't work well when moving from a 7ft to 9ft table or vice versa.
I learned that when I was 12, a trick shot book. I'm 60 now, I won alot with that technique.
Thanks for sharing. My game just got a little better. I never understood this until I watched your video.
Learning at it's best easy to watch.
Hi Lil' Chris, I tried this moment and it felt simple and keep asking myself why didn't I know this on time thinking of so many good shots I missed in the past... We call it 6by9 wow I'm a punisher now using your method thanks buddy
Best explanation ever
The best so far
Protect this man at all costs.
Great tutorial Lil’ Chris 👍🏻
That rebound angle will change drastically depending on 1 of 2 things. Angle in like you show (diamonds help if needed) or left or right spin on cueball ( edit- into object ball) I won't bother with top or draw that's another lesson by itself. If people don't hit center cueball consecutively it will make the directions you've given seem inaccurate. They won't realize they aren't hitting center. Bar rails usually don't act correctly either. Most are not very good like home tables. Great job on angle in though. English, rails, felt, correct tip chalking, body stance, proper bridge hand and stroke all matter too. But people gotta start practicing somewhere. 👍✌️.
His geometry doesn't work. When he draws a line through the three ball to the opposite cushion it's not perpendicular to the table so I don't know how he figures out where to draw the line. Also the line that intersects the two lines to each pocket doesn't intersect at a 90% line to the spot on the cushion that he hits. I was there I'd have a few questions for him!
First part, didn't get you. The first line has to be parallel to the short side of table. It looks straight, just a bit distorted by camera angle... Second part, it doesn't have to be 90° at all.. okay are you talking about the normal line? Again, it is straight, just the camera angle distorts it. Just imagine a rectangular plastic bottle, cut with a sword in a slant. The bottom of the bottle is the opposite rail, the higher edge is the pot, the lower edge is the object ball...
Watch it a few times, you can even slow it down a little. The explanation went fast the first time I heard it, but repetition and pausing the video to see the diagrams allowed me time to think about what was said and understand it better before he moved on.
The community's here to help.
His draw which his own unique one in a way is why he made it more then his geometry quiz
Camera and effect on perpendicular lines does throw it off. The tip does work though. If you just took the text of the transcript and followed it, you'd probably get it faster than looking at the video and it's perspective angles
Why, I felt like you were teaching us,,pool players, how to have an x-ray vision! 😍
:))) geometry teacher said u have passed the semester😂
Good video Lil Chris, I like to use a tip of high to a center ball hit for those bank shots with mental imagery.. heading down to try Lil Chris' technique!
Nice one bro👍🎱
❤ this video was very helpful
No, it depends in the english & how hard the stroke is..
Always great content!
My favorite shot everytime 🤘🏼
This is the method that works for me. Thanks 😊
Respect from Philly Chris you a baller.
Thank you sir, this is so helpful
A few comments touched on this. Always with every shot you have angle, english and speed. Even on straight shots all 3 are in play. The angle of this example changes based on speed and english, but the concept of this example is very good.
That's all explained in the long form version of the video this short is clipped from. You can see the long form version in the pinned comment.
best pool player ever ❤
I always wondered what ppl were doing with their cue over their balls like that.
This is exactly what I do mentally. I've never used my cue to actually measure the halfway point between the pocket and where the object ball falls in line on the rail like you do. I've just gotten really good at judging it with trial and error over the years. 😅
I pretty much visualize all the lines too after so much practice. Sometimes, I'll still manually measure everything out.
Very helpful 👍
I never understood these calculated bank or diamond systems. Its going to go in the same angle it comes out
Then you still have to adjust for the firmness of the rails, speed of the shot, and any potential English that transferred to object ball.
So that part is going to be feel anyway
kevin it rarely goes in same angle in as same angle out unless absolutely perfect speed, no spin or no cut induced throw on the ball
You have bottom right on your cue ball.
Speed is a thing to.
It's not this simple, once you've done it plenty then yes super simple.
It was simple enough to get me from making zero bank shots to making 80% of them.
When I used to play more often this just felt like a natural thing to do, I didn't always make the bank but it worked more times than not
Force and spin also makes a difference but good technique, I do the one where you use the diamonds on the table
Ty, very helpful.
Now hit is as hard as you can and watch it miss. Speed matters on all bank shots.
Yes 100% The rubber rebounds differently at slower and faster speeds. I agree. Slower gets a more wide angle, while hitting it harder reduces the angle.
@walterhresent2295 It's not so much about the rubber rebounding, but the effect of throw at different speeds.
Throw at different speeds affects every shot in cue sports.
@@ruffdawgg Doesn't matter. It's about how rubber cushions play.
@@bob733333 all I am saying speed will also change how the cue ball throws the object ball, with both cut induced and spin induced throw. The slower the cue ball the more friction between the cue ball and object ball.
Awesome!
I have the same cue with 11.8mm shaft. Love it
How the heck would you know its the same cue
@@whirledpeas1182 It's a Predator Tuxedo SP2 with a revo shaft......
Idiot! That's way too complicated. Use an imaginary mirror on the cushion edge!!!
You are amazing!!!
That’s great now let’s try a snooker table 😅
Fuck you And your gay snooker table
I use a protractor, bisect the obtuse angle at the x axis make a mark on the rail with the chalk and then slam it and hope it goes down!🤣🤣
Thanks for sharing. 🤩👍🔥
Beautiful shot after 23 tried 👍
Nice diamond table!
Also depends on how hard you hit the Q ball English on the Q and the table
I need to try this
I use the reflections of the light in the ball as aim points, easier and more accurate
Please explain.
That is super unreliable. The light reflects differently off each ball, on every table. Not all lights are directly over center of the table
Dang something to use geometry and angles for
There is also a lot of physics in pool. Should have went to class!
@@mr.noneyabidness Nah bro f class.
The day you can use your instinct and not math or a method is the day you know how to play.
Lol even the professionals use these systems. The day you can make these shots 100% of the time, because you know exactly how it works and how to do it, is the day you know how to play.
as long as it works then do it for sure , I've never seen anything easier than a mirror system though
Do you mind explaining what that is?
@@blakepuhlman6466 well. Kinda hard verbally but just put 2 tables together and pretend your just shooting the object ball straight into an imaginary pocket , there's a few videos on here you'll find useful and explain better , but it is spot on , using no English or accesive speed .
Hit centerball .
It's quite simple, Google it and you'll get a quicker understanding
@@724riff Ok cool I'll def look it up. Thanks for the reply.
you can hit the rail exactly where you calculated it and still miss the pocket due to the spin and speed of cue ball.
Nice video.
Amazing method. This is actually mathmatically rigorous.
Need more indirect tricks
Thanks
Thanks I'll just keep guessing
Only works with center ball, bottom English. If you use top or accidental left/right on the cue ball, it will deflect and add spin to the target ball.
He shows all that in the complete video. He's pretty damn good.
Nice
I am going to try this i can use another reference system
Nevermind spin, speed, or the elasticity of the rail.
Most bisect the angle in their mind. Further, the angle is affected by cue ball speed and english.
Faster the speed, the shorter the angle because the cushion compressed more. Greater the outside english on the cue ball, the broader the angle.
I hustled 9 ball through college...not proud of it, just preferred playing pool for money versus having a more traditional job. I played just a little bit below famous players meaning I could beat an average bar or room player easily :-)
Hit it harder, won't go in.
Hit it softer, won't go in.
He finally got it on take 27
I like this. Did the white go in?
No scratch
looks like an easy task.
There are dots on the table for that case
Good ❤shot
Apparently he meant "imagine a line that goes kinda straight to the rail from there".
Bro you can basically teach geometry from pool😅
So the projection of the intersection of the lines from the other projections.
Just bank the white ball into every pocket from everywhere a million times and you'll know where to shoot. No professionals do this they just know from experience
How do I kick into a combination that also caroms before pocketing?
Let's draw on through the three ball to the opposite rail I mean so it doesn't matter where I draw that line to begin with where did you come up with that point? It doesn't matter?
Good point! I could've been more thorough on the explanation. The first line you draw through the object ball to the opposite rail must be perpendicular.
Where is Efren if you need him? 😅
Ternyata ada rumusnya 👍
I use the mirror image method.
What is that..I'm a beginner by the way lol
I played for about 30 years and I used the mirror method too. I would have to admit his method is the difference between binoculars and a microscope.
@FAST EDDIE..420 imagine a mirror alongside the pool table, you can see the pocket in the mirror... aim for that pocket.
There’s is a much simpler way lol. This is why people get confused when it comes to bank shots.
Ok that’s great. Now how do I do it when i’m drunk?
That's a lot of work. Dr. Cue has a much better and simpler way of finding the angle
I've seen LilChris do another technique. draw a line from the midway between ball and desired pocket to the opposite pocket, and shoot parallel to the line. Performed properly, they both indicate the same point but I find this way easier to visualize.
FINALLY those annoying geometry constructions can become in useful in real life
This is the guy that will quit after losing 1 set for 50 bucks at your local pool hall lmao. Cue ball scratched
Your Geometry is Not even Close
👌🏾
Why aren’t the 1st and 3rd lines straight to the rail though???
Always hated playing tournaments with amateurs that would try and lineup banks like that using their cue....and still miss.
I'd still miss somehow.
The video this is clipped from (check the pinned comment), will probably explain why.
There's actually an easier way, all you have to do is look at where your cue ball is sitting from left to right in front of you, the cue ball is setting 3 in from the right Dot on the table hit the three ball to that same location to the right of you on the other side and it will go in the side every time.
Wrong speed and you miss. That’s a medium speed shoot😎
That is not the end u have to have preparation on the next ball 😃
Does this work on every type of cloth???
In general, yes.
The system works under ideal conditions. There are environmental conditions that will cause this to not work, so there's probably some type of cloth that would force you to make minor adjustments.
How would you do this if it was for one of the corner shots?
You would use the same measurements
Does this work with center ball or any English?
Check out the long form video this is clipped from, it answers your question
ua-cam.com/video/Fm_-BunxPvA/v-deo.html
I need an answer not a hearted comment lol
Probably should check out the other reply then
@@LilChrisPoolPlayer lol my bad u replied when at the same time so it didn’t show fast enough thanks!
@@allmight6645 - short answer is that English on the cue ball will transfer some English to the object ball. So Yes, English will change the angle the ball comes off the rail
Robert Byrne illustrated this technique 30+ years ago. (It's certainly much older than Byrne even). How can you take credit, for something that you had nothing to do with?
umm who claimed credit?? Most pool tutorials are of methods that were discovered by others just like any thing else being taught just because you teach someone how to add and subtract it doesnt mean you claim it as your own see how that works :)
I hope this is real! that is a good trick
It is if you believe in yourself easy shot
still cool...but might been funnier if u had missed.
liked the good geometry lesson. rather useful in any game of pool.
Or use the diamond inserts
Don't forget all the outside English he added lol
No side spin necessary. It's a very old technique. I learned it over 30 years ago.
If you're a pool player, look up Robert Byrne. He wrote many excelent (if not the best) books on pool & billiards. (Using the technical input of mathematician/engineer/pool instructor Bob Jewett.)
This technique is in one of them. Either the Standard, or Advanced book, by Byrne. I cant remmeber which now. It's been many years ago, that I read them.
Does this work with snooker??
Yes. The main difference between table sizes would be how hard to hit the bank because of the distance the object ball would have to travel, but the measurement techniques would remain the same.
Who's going to remember all that? Lol. Still cool though.
After enough practice, you can visualize all of the lines. That's pretty much what I do now.
Yh ima just wing it
But that point you hit on the rail isn’t the point where the two lines intersected.
But the speed it hits the rail effects the angle it'll come off the rail.
